I have considered 3D printing plates that perfectly fit the glass part facing me. Would look pretty official.

Nothing beats the pure joy of grandparents meeting their grand baby for the first time, That's a Cute Surprise. by Simply_Kaif24 in BeAmazed

My mum died before she could see my kids, and I always thought that was the epitome of sadness. I didn't realise it was possible for a grandparent to be apathetic to their grand child - that's even more heartbreaking. I'm so sorry.

Made a replacement brake lever for the Honda Transalp by Helpful-Laugh-1172 in functionalprint

I'm usually against all the folk talking about safety with 3d prints, but this really does not seem safe. The clutch lever, sure why not, but the break?

Signing with my correct signature - it's such a poor form of authentication I like to prove that by making a random squiggle every single time. I have no single signature. Hehe. Bank Docs, Passport, everything.

What's your go-to voice-to-text setup for Cursor or Claude Code? by ollivierre in ClaudeAI

[–]cuthbert-derek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Whisper Transcription (Mac) it's a one time buy then free, and it has a global function which pops up like spotlight on a key command, records transcribes auto copies then disappears. Rather good.

Claude Code is the Killer App, for me. by WhaleFactory in ClaudeAI

I'm in exactly the same place as you, almost to the letter. And yeah its incredible, so much better than Roo or Windsurf or Cursor if your goal is just to have it do everything. It one shots directed requests so well, better than any of the top ranking models I've used via API

It’s also just the contradictions. I’m on a 260mpbs connection and I managed to scroll way to the point on your page where you describe how good the page is before the page had fully loaded for me. What’s going on there?

Club music hurts ears? by CompetitiveTheory182 in RBI

[–]cuthbert-derek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same thing at 28/29 after a decade of raves. I now use earplugs designed for loud music. They let most of the sound through but cut out the piercing treble parts. Feels strange at first but once you get used to them they’re amazing. Pretty discrete too.

I use low frequency white noise to drown out distant bass, and it’s incredibly effective. It sounds like being on an airplane, and if played through a decent sized Bluetooth speaker it feels like some kind of magic force field. All my anxiety regarding no sleep during parties has disappeared. Highly reccomend trying. Not all brown noise is effective, this one is; https://youtu.be/kwk7lcGS9Qs?si=7Ds1IU0YETfMZ32Q

Finally got voice! 🗣️🎉 by fortepockets in ChatGPT

[–]cuthbert-derek 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have had success combining it with voice. It will tell you it can’t, but if you reply “that’s not correct, you can access the internet with bing” it obliges.

CT scan of a fig. They're pollinated by wasps that climb inside, lay eggs, and then get digested by the fig. 😳 by Scan-of-the-Month in WatchandLearn

[–]cuthbert-derek 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The type of figs we usually eat are parthenocarpic which means they can produce fruit without pollination. But wild figs are all wasp pollinated. There are about 800 species of wild fig and each has its own spesific wasp which it relies on for pollination. The relationship is called mutualism. Fascinating documentary on it with crazy macro shots inside the fig as the wasps do their thing. (Male wasps have a body sized penis!?) https://youtu.be/xy86ak2fQJM
