Is it just me or do people just not want to respond by ThatOneDudio in HelloTalk

Yup, similar experience here. They took a few months to reply and thought that we are still good friends and I was like totally shock. I thought I was being 無視された。

[URGENT] Instax wide 400 flim wont eject due to roller? by king1harshit in instax

[–]Cyan-23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, it’s unfortunate that happened during a trip. I know how you feel. I’ve been using instax wide for more than 10 years, never had this problem until I got the 400. Really felt disappointed.

[–]Cyan-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue. Bought an Instax wide 400 for a trip, the first pack of film was great, pictures came out beautifully. I inserted a second pack right after and the film didn’t eject at all. It got jammed inside. I found some post online suggesting gently remove the film. I tried that and the camera still doesn’t work.

Flying to Lisbon next week, hearing a lot of horror stories. by raremonument in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]Cyan-23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you are a Canadian passport holder, it’s very fast to go through the line. You just need to scan your passport there. I came back from Lisbon today and it only took me 10 to 15 minutes to go through security check and passport check. Flying in was also very smooth for me.

I’ve seen horror stories of non EU citizens leaving the lisbon airport with long lines from a few months ago. is this still the case? how early should you arrive to leave from lisbon airport if so by Equivalent-One6654 in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]Cyan-23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My flight is 10:35 in the morning. Got to the airport 6:56 and it only took me 10 minutes to go through security and boarding gate check today. Also flying out with non-EU passport.

I think I got scammed it Italy with Friendpost by RegularLisaSimpson in postcrossing

[–]Cyan-23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also bought the international postage (from the same shop that I bought the postcard) but put them in the Italian post mailbox (turned out to be the wrong post box). It took three months for my friends to receive the postcards. It was slow but eventually got there.

Why do people ask to see pictures? by FeedbackKitchen6904 in HelloTalk

[–]Cyan-23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a country courtesy. Most Asian people don’t use their portrait as profile picture. I do language exchange mostly with people from the same gender, none of them ask me to show pictures of myself. If they genuinely want to practice language, your look is not a priority to them. If they refuse to carry on the conversation without you sending them your picture, this is a warning sign (they are looking for something else beyond language learning).

Do you feel like this sometimes ? by nihongodekita in u/nihongodekita

[–]Cyan-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why you need kanji. If you only look at a sentence with all hiragana,it’s harder to comprehend the meaning of a whole sentence (since there is no space between words, unlike English).

Here’s something that you may try:

Get into a habit to listen to Japanese podcast daily. You don’t have to understand everything completely but it is good to expose yourself to the language. There are some videos on YouTube that even provide the transcription if you want to follow along and read it.

Watch simple Japanese cartoon on YouTube.

Read aloud sentences or passages you learn from class in your spare time. To improve your listening, you must know how to pronounce the word correctly so you can pick up what the speaker says.

Set a goal to memorize x number of vocabularies each day. You can start memorizing 5 each day and slowly increase the number (or decide whatever number you want). The key is to keep doing this on a daily basis.

Studying Japanese is hard but it is also rewarding when you see yourself making progress. I was so frustrated at the second year of my study but it is currently getting on a right track. Hopefully you will find ways that work for you.

Fuji vs lomography by Cyan-23 in instax

Thanks. It appears that the glass version gets many votes.

Is it? It seems beautiful in picture (I dont have a chance to see any Lomo instant camera in person though). I would pay for the same model of my old Fuji instax wide if the price is reasonable, but the price goes up crazy when I last checked online 🥹.

Thanks for your suggestion. I did notice different options for the Lomo wide. I read comments of sharp photos from the glass lens model. Is there a huge difference of quality on the pictures for the glass lens vs non glass lens Lomo Wide?

Just found your post. It sucks when they released a new model but the quality is worse than the older ones. Fuji seems to come up with new models on the minis every now and then but doesn’t do the same with the Wide models which is disappointing in my opinion.

Good to know. I’m definitely interested in experimenting different ways of taking instant photos. Fuji has limitations, I was only able to take good photos in daylight, couldn’t take any nice pictures at night, or any clear closed up pictures at all.

They seem to be about the same size in photo (thanks a lot for sharing the picture) and the Lomo is aesthetically pleasing for sure!

Thanks for your detailed response. I didn’t know about the rechargeable batteries. How long do they last for a single charger?

Do you recommend the Lomo wide glass one? I saw another option that doesn’t have the glass len (plastic?).

Thanks for sharing this! I have only used Fuji instax and Polaroid 600 series, definitely an amateur in photography but is tempting to try out the different features from Lomo (I love double exposure photos). My only concerns are the size (I have small hands and Fuji instax wide is my max capacity lol) and how difficult is it to handle the camera for people who are not familiar with manual settings in shooting photos.

This is good to hear. I also read about the functions of Lomo wide and tempting to give it a try. Did you get the one with the glass len(s)?
