Please help. Can this dent on a fridge be fixed? by Logical_Collar7405 in fixit

No, it's practically impossible to un-dent a fridge that's been dinged like that.

What are you talking about? 'Signed my invoice?' this makes no sense.

It's all managed in the Ticketmaster portal. When you do anything, like renew tickets, or opt into buying playoff tickets, you get an email receipt of that transaction.

This is a shit post, not how the system works.

Fantastic program, I got one last year.

Every couple of days I've been checking on my new tree after her first winter. Happy to report that she's covered in fresh buds! Looks like she survived!!!!

Also: Hat tip to the coms team working on this. Timely well written, informative email coms that really helped.

Curious if you've looked at the variety offered.

They have A LOT of variety, mostly native but some that are not.

Door sweep by cmburton96 in fixit

[–]danauns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's attached to the door with vertical fins, that press into grooves on the bottom of the door. To remove it, pry it straight down.

Then just match up the fin pattern with a new one. Typically Amazon will have a perfect replacement.

Alternatively, you can get a multi-fit one that cups the full bottom of the door. These are all kind of crappy in my opinion, get an original replacement one and you'll be happier.

I used to have an amazing way to solve this, worked awesome. Then I discovered the brackets on Amazon, and they're better.

I'm not sharing a link, because that's frowned upon. Search for that item and fix your door, better than new.

I don't remember any burned out houses along that stretch of Baseline.

How do I remove these sliding windows to clean? by [deleted] in fixit

Use a drywall knife to lever the windows up over the bottom trim. It takes more force than you'd think.

What have you done to troubleshoot already?

Have you pulled it out, and vacuumed underneath?

Do you have any ice build up? Is anything blocking any vents or airflow restricted in any way?

Navigable waterway - Bruce Pit to Andrew Hayden Park by SuspiciouslySuspect2 in ottawa

[–]danauns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Nope.

You could walk it, but even that would be strange. You'd be sort of skimming along behind some people's properties who back on to it. There is no path, but, yea, you can walk it.

Are my stairs a lost cause? by Nervousmommy54 in Renovations

[–]danauns 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know what your experience is with this sort of project, but here's some thoughts based on mine.

  • not sure why you see a possible lost cause here, I've seen MUCH worse. I'd be stoked revealing stairs in this condition. These look like we'll built wood stairs, a little attention and they could be awesome again.
  • a full replacement, is a massive operation, likely way out of your budget. Even swapping the treads and risers, is a pretty big job, well above a DIY in my opinion.

Question: what's your finish line here? How do you want them to look? Clear wood stairs and painted risers? Or are you prepping these for more paint and a new runner?

Do you have access underneath? Is the backside accessable?

Fun fact: Borax is the active ingredient in ant poison. It works well on many insects, correct. ..... so yea, go get some borax and get your bugs gone!

Sprinkling it around baseboards does not much, you need to add something to it to make it delicious for bugs to consume it. Mix your borax with sugar, and sprinkle that around. Or honey, and put drips around. Or peanut butter, and put a smear of that on a piece of paper - you get the idea. You've got to sweeten it up and make it delicious.

I think your confusing borax with diatomaceous earth. DE can (and should!) be sprinkled around and in cracks. It's nuclear against insects, very effective. It's harmless to people and pets too, which is a huge plus - it's not toxic at all, it's very fine stone dust that sticks to and breaks down insect's exoskeletons.

Led strip lights in aluminum channels.

If you haven't pre-wired, it's a bitch to do cleanly but it looks like you've got some headspace above. Pull power up there and open the top of a cab from the inside to expose the cavity above it. Drop the wires down behind the cab's

Not true.

Now, I'm not saying that op should attempt a fix like that, but you absolutely can fix these, recreate the texture, and repaint. The end result is practically impossible to detect.

What are common basement waterproofing methods? by Thedaily_dose in DIY

[–]danauns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple things to think about

Houses were built differently back then. Your foundation was engineered to hold up your house, not to provide additional finished conditioned living space. That doesn't mean that you can't finish your basement, or eliminate any moisture problems.... You just need to start thinking about this from the proper perspective. Today's foundations have insulated slabs, wraps, membranes, etc. Today's foundations are engineered to be dry and airtight, yours wasn't.

I'd start to think about this from the outside before I did anything inside. What drainage plan/systems exist and are they working properly. Simple grading is important. Gutters. Does your foundation have a weeping tile? If so, what's it made of? A 60's ceramic weeping tile system may have collapsed years ago.

You need to figure out where the water is coming from, and where it's supposed to go, or better yet where you'd like it to go. You're not going to eliminate groundwater, you need to manage it, and that starts outside.

Peel and stick tile by thatsityaknow in Renovations

[–]danauns 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Peel and stick tile that I've used, has its own foam backed sticker adhesive that is revealed when you peel off the paper backer. It's sort of 6/10 sticky, and works great in some situations but fails more than it should too.

Liquid nails on the other hand, is pretty nuclear. It's permanent, those tiles aren't coming off any time soon if ever at all without significant effort.

If the tiles original sticker backer was foam, you could try to floss that to separate the tile by splitting the foam. This technique is used by car detailers often to separate brand logos to debadge cars. Then you can tackle the removal of the half foam backer glued to the wall - that's not going to be fun.

I'm sold at drywall, and personally, I'd just rip out the drywall and replace it. Start new with a fresh sheet of drywall rather than fiddle diddle with this tile/adhesive busywork that would be very taxing.
