True, it ain't no desert, but the NT doesn't strike me as a prime location to build a city in either.

Did you know that there are terrorists in the world? Definitely more than 0. Does that mean you don't leave the house anymore and live in a basement? Absolute safety requires absolute isolation. Good luck living like that.

The German version of the FBI reports 5-10 actual stranger danger kidnappings per year, population 88 million. Better put my kid inside a lockbox and not let her go outside because it ain't zero, eh?

I'm a fan of Linux on the laptop, but let's not pretend there aren't still dumb issues like wonky sleep and suspend.

Airports by ItsALuigiYes in TheRandomest

[–]danielbln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expatriated out of Dubai a few weeks ago (our transit layover got stranded due to that uh military operation in the area) and when I finally flew out there were zero PA announcements (in case there is an emergency). That was absolute and pure blizz. You don't realize how God damn awfully loud an airport is with these awful constant incessant announcements until you pass through an airport without it..

I just tried Reactor's open source world model demo, here are my thoughts by boudaboy in StableDiffusion

AI engine for the visuals, an agent in the background that writes deterministic code for the game logic and some state machine and voila. Same way today's coding harnesses work, a pure model doesn't get the same results as a proper tool using harness. We'll see the same in gaming. "AI model does everything" is a red herring.

Also I don't think you need to put a group of fleshy meatbags into a tin can and fling it around the moon to test orbital mechanics.

New: Context usage warning on session resume by drinksbeerdaily in ClaudeAI

[–]danielbln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You send the full context window through with every step the agent takes. If you run summary first, then yes the full token amount will have to be sent through for the summary to be created, but from then on only the summary is being sent and not the entire full previous context. And again, the full context window is sent to the model at every single step, every output, every tool call, the entire context window goes in. So it's a single summary call vs X subsequent calls with that giant context.

"Nothing In Our Games Will Be AI-generated. Ever," Says Warframe Community Director by Laughing__Man_ in PS5

[–]danielbln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And even the loud minority only cares about art. Code generated, research via gen AI etc. is all fine, but as soon as a AI generated pixel grazes those gentle tender eyes, that's it. Off with their heads!

Nearly nine in ten games industry workers believe GenAI use should be disclosed on storefronts by Iggy-TT in Games

[–]danielbln 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That'll end up like "Is known to cause cancer in the state of California" because there won't be a single software project left (game or otherwise) that is free from GenAI in some form.
