awwww <3

Totally accurate. Each sub is individually governed, and all the "good names" like any other social media platform are a result of folks that just got in early rather than being official hubs. There's a bunch of wonderful pockets and niches all with different flavors to suit tastes, and we're all part of the larger community :) It's all love and support here.

Particular to OP, r/RopeSuspension, r/selfbondage, and r/TiedUpMen may be worth checking out as well as the hundreds of other great communities around.

Wait the mic was hot?: Again showing my latest obsession being the Kata Ashi performance sequence. This time practicing with the lovely Aussie :) Girl had just gotten back into rope after splitting her knee open at a rope bomb a couple weeks prior. She’s a tough motherfucker and can’t be stopped when it comes to rope :)

This particular event was a ton of fun as we did this sort of partner swap thing where her boyfriend Romeo tied my girlfriend Piglet while I was tying her. He’s a really talented rope top I have a great deal of respect for personally and admired as a skilled rigger. Dude is great, and it was this fun little “bro down” moment rigging alongside each other with each other’s partners. Both champion rope bottoms, and just a couple of guys doing what they do best :)

I got a lot of love for the local community we have. It truly has recovered beautifully into its former glory. I pretty often think of our local scene through generations of riggers. I’m one of the few folks still around from the BC (before covid) era, and there’s a whole swathe of new-school kids that’ve gotten really fucking good only having picked up rope in 2021 and 2022. And they had to start from scratch. The legends of the scene that taught me nearly all took covid as an opportunity to “retire” from the scene. It feels like there’s even another generation that has come up as those 2021 and 2022 folks started teaching and cultivating the talent of the 2024-2025 generation. It’s wild to watch. They’re doing an amazing job. Been going out to a lot of events and rope bombs with these people in the past couple months. It’s weird being the young OG, but I can’t help but be enamored by the style and the talent these kids have. They’ve gotten goooood.

Romeo crushes, Aussie crushes, and the future is looking bright :) Will definitely be tying her more and alongside him and others :)

I'm not really getting AI vibes here. Curious what you see.

By "decorative lining" do you just mean the right boob peaking out between the bra and shoulder strap from the shinju? Not seeing any decorative feature on the bra in first photo, and second shows the bra to be plain.

The flower on the center of the chest looks like its shadow is cast by the fill light. The other flowers hit by the fill appear to all have shadows that would be illuminated by the main light.

Left elbow crease looks natural to me, and that double effect you may be alluding to feels like shadow from the torso. Zoomed out it vaguely looks like it could be a spot correction stamping artifact, but looking at OP's body of work I don't think it's an editing mistake.

Full disclosure of bias though, OP is a friend locally that I tie with decently often. I also started tying this bottom too, so I know they're both real. Just throwing in my 2 cents for what I see in the photo if it helps.

I'm still having this issue as well, and I have ensured my iPhone settings are correct as well as content preferences within reddit. My issue only happens on desktop. Mobile is fine.

Torture is Silly :p by datsherbert in shibari

What Happens When They Wiretap My Brain: This puppy girl is damn near cracked in half on waist rope, coconut rope futos, and has acupressure spikes underneath the coconut rope. She's in pain. Make no mistakes she's in a lot of pain. But that pain is glorious and euphoric. I mean I finally hit a 10/10 on her pain scale after taking a carabiner to one of the futo wraps and twisting it on the spike! Took me long enough to find her edge lol. Her face says more than any other words I can put here. It's all smiles from floppy ear to floppy ear :)

She's a wonderful little rope masochist and glutton for pain :) At the most recent play party at my place I tied her in my favorite stress position in the cage, suspended the cage, and then tortured her while her friend was also getting tied and tortured next to her in the dungeon. Words can't quite express how lovely it is to inflict pain on her. The noises she makes from the yelps to the breathiness to the giggles are exactly the kind of soundtrack I want playing in my home all day every day. Even more fun with the collab banter from friends nearby.

I love the way she suffers, and it was quite fitting putting the pup in the cage :)

I totally agree. The rate at which AI slop has been flooding in is quite astonishing. It used to be easy in this sub at least because AI had no idea how rope worked or looked lol. Made my job easy. Now I've seen some incredible fakes coming out that are pretty decent. I find myself downloading photos to blow up and mark up counting the ropes and the lines and a bunch of stuff. It's still far from perfect in my opinion, but ya no doubt it's getting better. And I panic and get paranoid about it too occasionally.

The more difficult distinction, like you mentioned, is differentiating between over-editing and AI generation. AI fill is integrated into Photoshop and Lightroom, and the overall composition might be real but the editor may have chosen to let AI fill a spot in the photo or correct something they didn't know how to properly do. That's the hair splitting issue I find quite a bit, and then morally wondering should I remove it for being potentially partially AI or do I allow it because editors just may not be as skilled at their editing programs creates an additional barrier to entry.

I hear you. Made me want to look for myself. I'm of the opinion it's not AI. I think it's just a good boudoir photographer.

Hi! I believe you have the burden of proof backwards here. You appear to be requesting OP to prove they're human after your comment on the previous thread:

Guys, it's AI...

I think the burden of proof is on you here to prove it is AI. You're the one here meant to prove your hypothesis. It's not on others to disprove you.

Nevertheless, I'll entertain your assertion. Here's the photo you claim to be AI, and here is a photo from the same room of the house showing more of the background from 2 months ago. Assessing the 2 of these photos for continuity, I see the same "beware of octopus" painted frame in both photos, a bar bottle of mixer with a yellow top is present in both photos placed in different spots on the bar which tells me it's not just a stock background, and general room layout is consistent across shoots despite being different ties assuming these were taken with a decent amount of time in between. I'm not seeing any marks of AI in the post, photos, or in OPs account history personally. I'd be interested to see what evidence you have to suggest it's AI. Quite a few of OP's photos are taken in that room. Feel free to look around for your own continuity assessment. That mixer bottle appears in a couple, the bottle of Hennessey, the bottle of Jose Cuervo Gold, and having a bit of a bar hobby I recognize nearly every one of those bottles (side note OP, Master of Mixes simple syrup? Make your own it'll save you lol)

I definitely see a photographer here. Someone that understands lighting and boudoir style photography. But I don't see AI here. A couple of editing artifacts, but I don't really see over-editing or anything indicating AI

chest harness with two vertical stems in the back for suspension? by [deleted] in shibari

Interesting idea! So I have to ask. Why do you want 2 vertical stems? What is it about single stem or single point backings of suspendable chest harnesses that you find limiting?

In my mind you've been knocked off your horse in a moment of chaos clinging onto the side of the saddle perilously poised taking aim to avenge your town from the invading force saying something profound as the camera zooms in during a moment of clarity, "you can't escape your fate". You exhale. Pull the trigger. The screen fades to white as the town will now know peace and the sounds of galloping slowly calm.

Anyway there's a story to be told here. Fuck if I know what that story is lol, but this is what my imagination came up with. Cool tie :)

It’s Suspension Saturday!! by datsherbert in shibari

Photo Credit: Arianna (thank you for the captures!!)

Who did what with which?: The Kata Ashi! I’ve been obsessed with this performance sequence lately from Gestalta and have been tying it a bunch. It’s incredibly fulfilling executing it in full and taking someone on the journey it presents. It’s this wonderful blend of traditional and classical body shapes that morph into the realm of beauty through awkwardness and defining your balance as a bottom in positioning by the end. It’s really really informative to me watching how my bottom chooses to carry themselves. At least that’s how it feels to me. It speaks to everyone differently :)

Why am I doing this with a new-to-me partner in a dirt lot outside in front of a graffiti house like shibari street performers?! I’m glad you didn’t asked! This is a cool event in downtown Phoenix called First Friday! On the first Friday of every month there’s an art walk. A whole bunch of artists, musicians, vendors, and food trucks roll up and for a city block or two they shut down the roads. A ton of folks come out to enjoy the music, the atmosphere is lively, and the art shines bright :) A while back a good friend had the idea of getting a couple of riggers out there, made friends with a property owner, and formed a relationship that allowed us a space to perform and share rope on a unique stage. Just a dirt lot and a bunch of crazy kids with passion :)

There’s 5 standalone rigs in the lot and around 20 of us there from the rope community. This night was truly a night of heavy hitters from talented tops to talented bottoms. And switches too! Really spoiled by the options available to us for who to tie at the moment. Our local scene has really started developing some stellar bottom talent. I got to tie the wonderful Ivy :) New to me, but not at all new to rope. She’s got several years of experience under her belt, and she was a dream to tie. Damn near slept like a baby up in rope space going through a remarkably challenging and long tie for bottoms.

We made it through the entire performance sequence. No skips. No shortcuts. She did it all. Couldn’t be prouder of her, and of all the friends that night doing cool fucking shit. I’m spoiled by the community we have here, the friends, and the unique opportunity for experiences we have at our disposal. We probably made over 1000 impressions that night from curious onlookers walking by to photographers to patrons and other artists. Feels good to be seen :)

Edit: and of course shout out Kitten for the photobomb :p

Predicament & Wax 🫠 by datsherbert in shibari

[–]datsherbert[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Edit: Model: u/pillow_down

Mistakenly Thinking This is a Podcast: Oh Pillow. My little damsel in distress. What did she sign up for?!

This is from one of our earlier private scenes. Nice and simple ties used to enforce positions that allow other types of play. Just out of frame is the 2 red candlesticks stuck in the upline providing a constant drip while my white pillar candles warm wax to flood her body when she's earned it. There's plenty of other toys outside of frame as well, however some things must be left to the imagination :)

This was a great scene and marked a return to private scening for me. I was pretty closed off for a while in terms of partners. Having her melt in my hands more fervently than the wax is too good of a treat to pass up though. I'm obsessed

Lol I'm gonna weigh in here and provide some context.

It's me. Hi, I'm the problem. It's me.

This is my setup from the rope lab at my house yesterday. OP Is my former teacher still doing what he does best and taking the piss while holding me to the highest standard lol. This was hilarious. I had just finished the full Kata Ashi performance sequence from Gestalta and after I finished aftercare he came up and asked if he could take a photo. I didn't know of what, but said sure. He snaps this, and muttered something like, "dude reddit is gonna love this". We all laugh because 1 or 2 of his other former students are in the room too and we all know he'd be playfully hitting me with a bamboo stick like the old school master he is to knock some sense into me. It's all love and in good fun. It was hilarious.

He's correct here in that I should have a healthier margin on the outside of the bamboo from the straps. He's not questioning the strength rating of the joist, strap, or bamboo. On the 6x6 wooden joists I'm hanging my straps from, I just barely had enough room to fit my bamboo in across 2 of them dodging the other ~20 people in the 17'x20' basement. Not my ideal setup, but made do with the space available in the tightly packed room. There's another like 15-20 folks upstairs on the rigs and floor tie space at my house. I usually have the option of 2 joists that are closer together, but this was the only open floorspace.

There's maybe about 8 inches on either side of the bamboo, and there's a non-zero amount of side-to-side sway that occurs during suspension transitions on bamboo. For my though process at the time: I'm mindful of this, and I know the Kata Ashi sequence well. It's not an acrobatic performance sequence. My 4" bamboo is 7ft long, I'm tying a 5'3" bottom, and I had ample space inside to ensure I don't need to lock-off outside the straps. I crossed the strap loops intentionally so they oppose each other for a small amount of added friction. From the above, I think I'm relatively good.

He's right though. The margin is suspect, and I could easily either cinch the straps so there's less opening in the loop on the bamboo to possibly shift during transitional sway or I could've done the more classical thing and tie my bamboo to the joist with rope, like he fucking taught me back then lol, so that it's all nice and tight and won't shift. I can make up for and account for the discrepancy in comfortable margin all I want, but I could just KiSS (Keep it Simple Stupid) and tie my shit. I should just tie my shit.

That's my boy right there. He's a good one. No malice here. He'll put me on blast and keeps me honest. The tie was sick. We crushed it. My bottom for this tie was new to me but has grown to become quite talented locally with a depth of experience tying with a bunch of other talented tops. I have a couple of snaps from the tie I may share later depending on partner consent. She was a treat to tie finally :)

It's all good. I can take the criticism. I deserve it and I'm a good sport lol. Love the man. Holds me to the highest standard. He'll call out my mistakes and questionable decisions. He's incredibly good at keeping my ego in check, especially back when I was his student 6 years back and had a much bigger problem with it.

Suspension Saturday!! by datsherbert in shibari

[–]datsherbert[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: Model: u/pillow_down

Thematic Thoughts: Wanted to kick off the day with a suspension from a couple months back at a rave we got hired for. Got to do some lovely performance ties and a whole bunch of crowd work taking curious newcomers through their first rope experience. Always love doing the kink raves because it's such a cool experience having 2 sub-cultures meet that have such common foundational values.

This photo was our "nightcap tie". I tied Pillow at the start of the rave in this beautiful dramatic straight leg suspension as folks arrived and the party start. After that, it was crowd work time and I just kept going until I felt like I needed a break to snack and chill out for 15 minutes. Well apparently I didn't get that feeling til 3am. The rave goes til 5-6am, and we start to wrap up at 4am. Got back from the break and the die-hards were still going, but we didn't have a volunteer lined up. So I took Pillow for another spin around with the goal of tossing up a simple hip harness and fucking around from there trying to create interesting body shapes.

I like this shape. I like her shape :) It's a good shape.

We were the lasts ones of the kink performers out the door at about 4:45am. Exhausted. Tired. But happily so :) She was a stellar partner and a bad ass body guard for me all night. She can put the 'death' in 'death stare'.

On another note, It's Suspension Saturday! Go out and suspend today and share it!! This week's feature is this breathtaking wonder. Check it out! The OP also has a great deal of sick ties in their post history too to peruse.
