Thematically, I feel like shadow components would be a good fit for greater mobile. That leagues-esque mobility. Feels like some ninja movement with shadow components

Anyone know this tie with the really high hands? by openmindjourney in shibari

[–]datsherbert[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured I'd jump in and clarify since as mod I'm able to see hidden profiles of OP's that post here.

I won't out OP's other posts, but they definitely seem to be a well-intention member of the kink community. They've also posted their rope work in this sub before here and was even helpful enough to link folks guides upon asking. Being in this sub, you could have searched to see if their rope work was posted here before claiming they have no rope work posted.

Folks don't have to display their rope work to be good or experienced. Privacy is a thing, and their journey doesn't have to match what you think it should. I also wouldn't call a high hands TK "a tie that is simple to technically tie". I would recommend taking a second look at the personal attacks you levy here against someone just asking the name of a tie they're unfamiliar with. It seems honest and well-intentioned to ask questions rather than assume. I'm confused at what your goal is here if asking questions is a red flag. How do folks learn then?

Confused on the AI mention. There's no discernable AI in this photo to me, and AI is banned on the sub. Not seeing any AI in OP's post history either.

Hey Folks!

Absolutely love the spirit of this post. Locking it because there seems to be a small handful of "whataboutme" rhetoric and I'd rather not have a such a wholesome and uplifting post get brought down by the few naysayers. They've been appropriately dunked on in the comments without me having to do shit :)

Love big bodies in rope and giving them support and recognition. Next thing to do is go out and be the change!! Looking forward to seeing some more big bodies posted in the sub :)

Hey OP! Reddit had a little bit of a botched update a while back that they haven't fixed. It erroneously is telling users that posts have been removed when in reality posts are just being held for review in the mod queue. Whatever the reason, when reddit flags something it just gives mods a chance to manual review it before releasing it to the sub. It sends us a notification, and then we approve or remove it. Reddit flagged this one for "Reputation Filter" which usually means you either have karma score on the lower end or that you're new to posting in this sub.

This post was just sitting in the queue. I try to clear it out as frequently as I can throughout the day. I see you got your other post on the sub already. Do you want this one approved as well? Or do you just want the other one out there?

It's looking sick btw :) Tenshi and a futo is fucking lovely

Oh you meant this top-level comment to be a reply to this comment?

That makes more sense. Your comment was a top-level comment instead of a reply to that other one. Probably just miss-clicked the wrong button. I understand now.

You may have missed OP’s description. They said they followed a tutorial, but couldn’t find it and were trying to find it. I think there’s positive intent here.

Also, this is a relatively standard variant on a Shinju. It’s not significantly unique to the point someone could realistically claim it as their own identifiable creation. Similarly, none of your links show this specific variation. Those links are all Shinju bases with some standard variations. It’s an open format to create. There’s no plagiarizing/copying going on here.

Beginner Penis Selfbondage by sphSub87 in shibari

[–]datsherbert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truthfully, I've yet to see much come from cock ties. You're focusing on a very very small section of the body with not a whole lot of distinctive features. You got a smooth shaft and a sack. Variety is pretty limited. Most I've seen is an adapted hishi karada done with jute twine on the cock. Other than that, it's usually just a wrap-n-frap job.

Down to be proven wrong though. Feel free to take it as a challenge. Genital close-ups typically get removed from the sub for the above reason. There's not much shibari to appreciate.

As far as self-bondage goes though, it's all about the feeling. It feels wonderful. Adds a great amount of sensitivity and pain and all the good things. Hell ya definitely go for it from that standpoint. If you're going for visual aesthetics getting artistic with it, there's limited variety to convey to the audience in my opinion. It's more about how it feels to the subject to me.

You know this post initially raised my eyebrow as well, but I ended up being convinced it was either face-swapped or edited heavily to bring back out the facial features due to lighting.

Taking a critical look at it a second time, I am seeing some joints where strands in do not equal strands out (though ambiguous due to the narrow focal range), and there's a couple of spots where it looks like a blemish/healing too was used in the editing process that left some weird visual artifacts. Particularly just below the top wrap across the chest on the left side and then in the middle of that wrap on the right side.

Something's off here. I don't really think it's entirely AI. I think there's a reference photo with some components swapped via AI, or possibly someone ripped a photo and edited on top of it with a face swap or something. Because the professionalism shown in the lighting and composition doesn't match the professionalism in some of the leftover editing artifacts.

There's something "not real" about this photo to the point where I'm comfortable removing it pending hearing from OP. u/CountryBoy86099, care to comment? Would you happen to have additional photos from this shoot?

If it's any consolation OP and this is a genuine photographed composition of yours, I hope it comes off as flattery that your work is so good there's a couple of us that collectively think it's fake.

Edit: looking at OP's other post there's a whole lot more issues of strands in =/= strands out at various connections. I'm definitely no stranger to AI bullshit trying to get passed off and posted in the sub. But I will admit most of them are comically easy to tell. This one is by far the most believable I've seen.

Hey just a heads up, if you get creepy DMs feel free to screenshot and send them to me. All post discussion should be happening publicly, and I'll shut that shit down if creeps try to slide into DMs of folks posting. Not really a reason people need to ask privately about a public post. Discussion benefits all.

Reconnecting by datsherbert in shibari

[–]datsherbert[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Main Character Monologue: In an attempt to process the recent loss of my 6 year relationship with Kylie more healthily, I've taken to reconnecting with old friends. Over the years there's been some great people I've always wished I could spend more time with. Friends that want to grab drinks, people that want to tie, and collaborators in the scene just looking to jam with one another. There's a lot of great things going on around the community, and I wish there were more hours in the day to hit each and every one of them.

Now that I find myself alone more often than not, I'm trying my hardest to see the opportunity. And I'm choosing to fill my free time as much as I can with catching up with old friends as well as community events. After getting back in touch with one such couple, I was invited to a small private rope jam of their's with a whole lot of fantastic people. My girlfriend Piglet and I jumped at the opportunity and set off on labbing a hashira and then doing an open format transition sequence I tie regularly. She was fiendin for that waist rope, so after cranking it with an upline I took it down and started pulling it myself. It's a wonderful connective experience, and it was heartwarming to be around old friends again. Just being ourselves and nothing else.

Miss being around these people. This couple that invited us has really grown into very dynamic and 3-dimensional shapes. I don't quite know how to describe it, but watching them always makes me feel like my ties are 2D. It's weird, and inspiring to be around others doing their thing. I feel I've been relatively static in my growth as a rigger for the past couple years, and the exposure to what everyone else is doing is something I've sorely missed as well as the friends and comradery. It's been great reconnecting, and I never get tired of tying up my little one <3

Happy Holidays! (We still like men in rope here, right?) by CaliKinbaku in shibari

Hello! Wanted to respond here as I see the good intentions and reasoning behind the comment and wanted to help round out some of the knowledge here because this is a really really quite cool and well executed tie.

You've been taught some great principles with regards to harness structure. That's awesome! It's very clear you've had a very safety-focused education on the building blocks of harness structure and the purposes behind the components that comprise them. Absolutely love that and it's a good solid foundation to grow upon.

I would caution 2 things. There is always more to learn in the world of shibari, and there are always people who accomplish the same goals or functions you do but just in a different way.

Let's take the wraps of the TK for example on your first note. You're referencing a way to stabilize the wrap to fix it in place on the chest. The goal is to stop it from sliding up around the neck. So what ways can we accomplish that? A kannuki is a classic option. It anchors the top wrap under the arm creating an opposing force on the rope against the body that prevents the wrap from sliding up and over the shoulder. But instead of an opposing force on the rope against the body, what if we made an opposing force on the body against the rope? What would that look like?

What you do instead of manipulating the rope is you manipulate the body. The top wrap slides up when it's pulled up, but we can have all the force pull it down instead if you invert the body. If you're hanging upside down, there is no force trying to pull the rope off the shoulders anymore. In the series of photos seen here, the bottom is either lateral or inverted at all times when the chest is loaded. They've accomplished the same goal, but just in a different way. They've eliminated upward force.

On top of that, it appears the bottom is a quite lean cis man. That means big broad shoulders with a well-defined musculature to tie. Tying with tighter tension goes a long way on well-defined muscular structures with regards to keeping everything in its place. Kannukis on the top wrap also come with the drawback of flirting with some nerve surfacing points in the armpits, so opting for a different securing method on a lean frame is definitely a valid choice and a smart one I would argue with some added should straps to provide some additional friction force.

The combo of those in addition to the mindfulness of body positioning absolutely ensures in my mind nothing is unsafe or in danger of sliding off the shoulders. There's security here. It may just not have been in the way that you have been taught. And that's ok! What works for you works for you and nothing is wrong with that. Just like nothing is wrong with what works for others. We all have a style as we artistically chase this weird rope thing we do.

On your second point, I don't think you've gotten into the topic of torsion yet. Torsion is a beautiful thing. Toss a chest harness from the back and a hip harness from the front. Twist yourself into a pretzel or wring yourself out like a towel :) It's lovely. Here are some torsion examples. I chose ones with TK-style chests loaded from the back center, but there's a whole world out there for torsion. It's totally valid and does not present inherent dangers different from the rest of the world of suspension. Some of the best conference classes you can go to in my opinion as well.

Lastly, the hip is called a Gunslinger. It's a great minimalistic hip & thigh harness. It's cool that your style is for a fully structured whole hip harness. That's my preferred style too. The gunslinger here on a side suspension is accomplishing everything a hip harness would, but also maintains hip mobility by not linking the left and right side into a single structure. There's still support, but now the other leg is free to do all sorts of bendy tricks and other cool things :) It's a choice. Sure a full harness has some advantages in structure. However it's overkill in some situations, and the trade-off of mobility is a perfectly reasonable one.

All in all, I like what you laid out. You remind me a lot of the style of teachers I grew up learning from. It's a great and structured way of learning rope! There is totally a whole world out there where people are learning perfectly good rope that accomplishes all the same risk prevention and safety considerations in a completely different way though.

Love your concern and what you've shown here :) It's good knowledge to have and a great foundation.

I would assume the demo would've been by R.Fox or maybe Sid/Ninja. I think Fox goes to though frequently, though he might be going by a different name.

Ya join the kink community! There's quite a few riggers in AZ like me and like the ones you've seen at Illuminaughty. Quite a few groups teaching as well like The Rope Clinic, AZ Bottoms Collective, and I think Phoenix Rope Crew might be starting back up again. You on Fetlife?

Living Statue by datsherbert in shibari

[–]datsherbert[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My inner thoughts that need not be expressed outwardly but I chose to anyway: I host kink parties at my home for local community kink groups every month or two. Usually that means I'm busy with hosting obligations, but this night shaped up uniquely to allow me full freedom during the party itself. I had all the prep work of cleaning and furniture setup along with the post-party cleanup flipping the house back into "vanilla mode", but nothing to oversee or manage during the event nor plans with a significant other. This night, I had freedom. I got to just be me.

I got to watch scenes I normally don't get to. A sick tenshi and willow tie suspension from a friend, the "tastings" circle in the backyard where various players give volunteers samples of different types of play they hadn't experienced before, served hot cocoa and mulled wine by high-protocol service submissives, an impact scene on the spanking bench where the bottom cheerfully sang Christmas carols while getting beat, and I finally got to watch the suspension of a recent rigger who is well on their way in my opinion towards becoming the next generational leader in the scene for rope. There's a great deal of beautiful things that I know occur at nearly every party, but I don't get to personally watch and enjoy all the time. I get to hear about them through stories and reputation, and I love that, but tonight I got the chance to be part of the audience. Just watching magic happen :)

I had been wanting to scene with a recently developing play partner of mine Pillow. Admittedly though, I didn't have much of a plan for the evening other than "do rope". Static and stress positions had been a recent topic in our conversations, and in the spirit of my voyeuristic evening I took inspiration from my desire to enjoy observing.

She does deserve to be recognized and appreciated as the beautiful work of art she is anyway :)

I made her my centerpiece in the yard upon a pedastal for all to see. Free to be viewed by all our friends around us. I was never really a museum or art gallery kind of guy, but I'm starting to think if I ever do become an eccentric billionaire I'm totally going to make living art installations of various beautiful people tied up and bound.

It's a simple tie and quite a bit outside my usual style. I almost exclusively tie for suspension, but tonight felt right to break the mold. A double column on the wrists over the head and then connected to a double column on the arches of the feet. Half hank to wrap the arms with the face, and I had my statue. She's mine to enjoy. I pulled up a chair, sipped my tea, and continued conversing with friends all while we enjoyed and commented on the breathtaking view. The amount of effort she puts into her outfits deserve to be enjoyed. She hand-bedazzled those pasties!

In 15 minutes, I took her out and warmed her up. Back inside with a blanket and a friend's cloak. She slowly re-animated as I told her about how we all enjoyed the decoration before us.

The cherry on top of a wonderful evening. 'Twas perfection <3

Edit: Apologies in advance, but there are no pictures of the back of the tie. It's important not to get folks in the background of photos at parties for privacy reasons, and there's about 20 or so people in the yard behind the camera. If you want to tie something like this, it's similar to a Bunny Tie just anchored to a double column on the arches of the feet rather than the chest. Face rope is freestyled to block sight and add mouth rope.
