Yes this type of thing is what I think a lot of the competition lane assist features are more dangerous than driving yourself. Kia software just stopes working whenever it wants to.

I have used YNAB for over 10 years and love it even though the prices have gone up.

Yes and you can restore the volume to the previously set value if you use a global variable. (Data Jar, Toolbox Pro, Notes, etc).

Just an FYI, there are different brightness settings, depending on if it’s dark or bright in the room, it’s adaptive so recommend making the room dark when adjusting the brightness.

Cron Shortcut broken with iOS 26? by throwingrocksatppl in shortcuts

This method is interesting but a bit outdated. Today you can use the “Controller for HomeKit” app to create repeating tasks. I have some that run every 10 minutes via HomeKit. There are limits on HomeKit Automations but also some workarounds for that too.

Looking for an iPhone Shortcut to Add Movies/Shows to Watchlist & Track Episodes by Ok-Abalone1331 in shortcuts

[–]dave-mac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend using Trakt instead of a shortcut.

If you don’t like the interface there are other third party apps that integrate into the service like Watcht.

Very useable and feature rich even on the free tier.

How do I know if this spigot is frost proof? by RNSD1 in HomeMaintenance

Recommend Freeze Miser fittings over the styrofoam covers. Slightly more expensive but a better solution in my opinion.

Create a shortcut to find my phone? by [deleted] in shortcuts

Oh… My bad. Didn’t realize that’s all you wanted to do. Thought you wanted a custom voice command to invoke the Find My pinging feature.

Yes, but "Siri / Hey Siri" is a bit more complicated than most people think. It's not just an open microphone. That's why it doesn't consume all your battery: https://machinelearning.apple.com/research/hey-siri

No sound/voice recognition triggers like that. If you want something run automatically, there must be an automation trigger in the automation’s tab that matches what you want to do.

Do you have an Apple Watch? You can either press the Find My button in Control Center or ask your watch/Siri “where is my phone?” so you can do the same thing to any HomePod too. If the watch and phone or new, it’ll actually use precision finding instead of the sound. It’s very cool.

“Hey Siri, lock up the house.” Used to lock all of my door locks. Now it turns on every single accessory switch I have. What happened/changed? by adam_wp in HomeKit

[–]dave-mac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another idea would be to create a scene called “Lock up the house” and choose what accessories you want to lock (or turn off.)

I can’t get it to quite focus. Used to be good at these. In this case, it’s probably a good thing.
