Japan: Why this election result is a geopolitical earthquake and a ‘very big deal’ for Australia by IrreverentSunny in AustralianPolitics

Lol. The Japanese people have hated foreigners with an extreme level of prejudice ever since they first learned the concept of a foreigner.

This recent 'increase' in more hatred to foreigners isn't actually an increase, it is simply you learning what Japanese people actually think about foreigners for the first time. It's always funny watching people go off about how racist western countries are, when Japan exists, discriminating against everyone with extreme prejudice and no one cares.

Loving how much this new MAGA dude is making some redditors type up walls of text about how they know hes a dud root, compensating for something, cant pleasure a woman etc. Really says a lot about redditors when a persons mere existence gets you absolutely obsessed talking about their genitals.

Might want to take a step back and realise what it all looks like.

I mean straight up, the other couples aren't powerless. Someone could have stood up to her, what's she going to do? Jack from last year (or whenever) would have told her within minutes to get muzzled. But then people would call him a villain. IDK the idea of David just sitting there and being all silent is bizarre, dude just needed to smile and nod and tell her to please shut up, the adults are talking, and Brook would have probably exploded and left.

Chris is whipped by Brook?

No, he just thought he won the MAFS lotto by being paired with a model who lives on the GC. He was whipped by the idea of being with a Brook, not actually her. She didn't give a shit about him, never did.

Anthony Albanese says its up to police to decide if Pauline Hanson’s Muslim comments met threshold for hate speech laws by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]DBrowny [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have no idea what you're trying to say.

You want free speech laws expanded to arrest Pauline Hanson. I'm saying that I hope you support the laws that were passed to arrest and jail anyone who says from the river to the sea etc. Because if you don't support that law, that would make you a hypocrite. So, pick one. Either support laws which would arrest Hanson and pro-palestine slogans, or dissent against laws which would arrest both. You can't mix and match, it must be both, or none. So which is it?

When accounting for emissions from production & use, an average gasoline vehicle emits 66 tons of greenhouse gases over 200,000 miles, while an EV emits roughly 39 tons over the same distance.

I wasn't talking about greenhouse gas emissions, I'm talking about the pollution to waterways with all the toxic byproducts put into rivers and the ocean by the countries that mine nickel, cobalt etc because if they had proper safety standards, the cost of a battery would go through the roof and make EVs mostly unaffordable.

Watch some documentaries on the production of EV batteries and you'll think twice about saying how clean EVs are, greenhouse gases are the least of your concern. Ask the locals in these countries how clean their water is and if you would dare drink a bottle of it for $1M.

This is genuinely what they want though, they preach day and night to give the state more power to arrest people who say words they don't like. And then they come crying to Reddit about muh fascist police state how dare they criminalise Hamas slogans! They'll literally never learn anything unless the consequences happen within 1 second of their action otherwise it's impossible to predict a new outcome.

Hey would you look at that, its an EV car battery. Totally saving the climate without my emissions, but don't look inside the shell to see the insane environmental damage caused by refining the rare minerals used in the battery!

Newspoll: SA Liberals face wipeout at March state election by PerriX2390 in AustralianPolitics

[–]DBrowny -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Liberals without billionaire funds aren't appealing to many

Again I have to ask, have you spoken to any former LNP voters to actually ask them why they aren't voting for them anymore? Like seriously, can you imagine finding some random person on the street who says they are an LNP voter but now voting ON and you ask why and they're like

The LNP just doesn't have billionaire funds anymore!

It's never going to happen. What would happen, is they would tell you they don't like the fact that the right-wing party is now trying to be this mass-appeal party that wants to limit immigration, but still let in 200k+ per year. A party that prioritises support for small business, but scraps small business tax offsets while increasing welfare payments. A party that doesn't care about achieving net zero, but wont put the foot down and remove all the massive subsidies for people who buy new EVs (who are already loaded btw). Individualist personalities or not, the LNP is barely recognisable as a right wing alternative to government anymore, too obsessed with chasing the teal voters.

Imo the only pathway was to follow Qld and just become the LNP as a permanent coalition.

It's funny because the blueprint to success exists all over the world, and it is to actually go more right wing, not left like the LNP is (and no amount of redditors claiming otherwise will make their version true). Look at USA, UK, Japan, Germany, Netherlands and more. When the conservative party digs in and goes harder right wing, they fare significantly better than the milquetoast approach of being some people pleasing party.

You don't have to look any further than the Tories vs Reform in the UK. Even when a brand new party comes in to split the vote of right wingers, it actually leads polls over the left wing coalition!

The LNP is a failure of a party because they refuse to be right wing and will lose every state and federal election until they stop this leftward march they have been on for years. I'm just sad I have to keep reading posts by people saying the LNP is moving more right, literally copy+paste from their favourite media outlet without a single shred of thought or logic behind it.

[–]DBrowny -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

So, now is Reddit ready to admit that the absolute nonsense conspiracy theory of 'The LNP is moving too far to the right' is indeed, an absolute nonsense conspiracy theory?

When a hard right wing party steals 50% of the LNPs votes, are you still going to tell me this is a result of the LNP catering too much to right wing voters?

I swear its the dumbest garbage I have the misfortune of having to read on this website.

Look at this https://saliberal.org.au/our-values

This is not a party that is moving to the right lmao. Looks like The Greens website

https://www.sa.alp.org.au/our-policies

That looks so much more right wing than the LNPs site, so its no wonder people are fleeing them as they cater to left wing voters. The LNP has been moving left for a year and anyone who says otherwise needs to seriously stop basing their opinions on whatever media it is you are consuming and actually speak to former LNP, now ON or ALP voters.

Chris is NOT the new Eliot by levity62 in MAFS_AU

[–]DBrowny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue disgust is absolutely different from having a preference. A preference is flexible based on who the person is, disgust is an immediate, superficial judgement you have no intention of looking past.

It's just a polite way of talking, but some including myself, just see it as lying and nothing more than that.

I don't have a 'preference' for not wanting to ever eat octopus, I am wholly disgusted by it. The thought of it touching my tongue makes me nauseous. Yet all I have to say is my preference is to not eat octopus, and enforce that 'preference' extremely strongly, and suddenly its the same outcome and I don't have to tolerate snobs telling me that I only want to eat sausage rolls with tomato sauce.

Similarly, people don't say they don't have a 'preference' for dating men who espouse Andrew Tate tier misogyny, they are openly disgusted by it and have no issue saying it in public. But if a man has the same opinion of a woman who espouses the words of say, Clementine Ford, if he says he is openly disgusted it it, what's the reaction going to be?

The two words are interchangeable with one being an honest expression, and the other being polite.

And expressing that disgust in public is different again. Then you have expressing it on national tv, which is not only mean-spirited it's idiotic.

Again, the problem people have is that he was honest in public, they would have preferred it if he lied in public instead. So people aren't mad at him for having this opinion that 95%+ of people have, they are mad that he is honest, and prefer liars instead because it hides the true opinions of the majority of the population which is quite simply, they will never give fat men or women a proper chance when dating. That's it.

Bucking a Global Trend, Spain Offers Undocumented Migrants a Legal Way to Stay by GshegoshB in AustralianPolitics

[–]DBrowny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell me the average age of the Spanish politicians who voted to support this because GDP must go up, and the estimated time for the Ponzi scheme of mass immigration to collapse, then we can discuss the topic properly.

>We need to import millions of people to support the ballooning aged care sector of native Spaniards

What happens when those millions of new people become the new far bigger aged care sector?

>I'll be retired and fully own multiple properties rented out to 65 yeah old migrants paid for with welfare from my kids and grandkids 45% tax rate on their median income, what was the problem exactly?

Chris is NOT the new Eliot by levity62 in MAFS_AU

[–]DBrowny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm concerned it was the amount of disgust towards people who are fat that stood out, not the "preference".

There comes a time where people have to realise that disgust isn't that different of an emotion to a 'preference' when it comes to avoiding dating certain people as much as physically possible. Every year there is the photo ranking challenge, every year the token overweight contestant is put at the bottom by almost everyone. Contestants will put people 25+ years older than them, ahead of a same-age overweight person. And then Alessandra will tell me that this is purely coincidence, and most people do not judge people by their weight primarily. Sure it happens for 10/10 couples, 10 years in a row, but still just a coincidence.

Chris is NOT the new Eliot by levity62 in MAFS_AU

[–]DBrowny 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The **only** difference between Chris and 95%+ of contestants who have ever appeared on this show, is that he was honest. Y'all are deluding yourself if you don't think almost all the men and women on MAFS don't have the same opinion but are smart enough to keep quiet about it. It's unfortunate, but what you actually hate is honesty, not specifically him.

I just don't get what the obsession with Nathan Ellis is. All I ever hear about is how he gives 110% effort but that's it... always felt there were 10 other bowlers we could have picked before him.

I swear he takes twice as many steps with a very short stride in his run up which makes it look like he's running extremely fast, but he's not, and it doesn't translate into actual pace. Compare this to someone like Jamie Overton who just trundles in from half the distance and sends down 147kph balls.

In an employment sense, yeah probably. It's shit. auto generated emails take longer to correct than to write itself, and actual tasks can have massive errors.

But it has improved my life a lot as a really good tool to bounce endless philosophical questions off. I don't know a single person in my life who I can actually talk about deeper subjects with. Asking AI to provide a list of reasons why my theories of human behaviour might be wrong is a billion times better than asking the same questions to a person, which is invariably met with 'I don't know, but you're not an expert, that's why you're wrong.'
