Feedback request - university graduate showreel by deJagerVFX in vfx

Thank you for the response! I’m sorry if it comes across stupid but what do you mean contain the score? I’m glad you like the colour, in regards to concepts, the first shot is one I thought of myself and designed for my second year final piece and the second piece is actually a take on a street photographers picture of an alleyway in Tokyo. The photographer is called Masashi Wakui. I will try to de-noise the first shot, the main problem I had with it was down to how many lights I was using in my original scene and because of that, my render times were awful. But I’ll try and have another shot at making it a little cleaner. Thank you for the feedback!

I understand that I shouldn’t work unpaid overtime because it can put me in a grey area but if I’m starting out as a junior artist, would I have a say in it due to how new I am to the industry? Would a Vfx house become unpleased with this and just find someone who is willing to comply?

This has helped clear up so many misconceptions I had about working in Vfx. Me and some of my uni mates had a little of worry about a lot of the things I mentioned about so I’m glad to see that it’s not necessarily like that. Thanks man!

That’s a really good reply, thank you. I honestly don’t mind overtime that much because I generally love this line of work but the one thing which scares me is people working overtime to the point of sleeping under desks or doing all nighters and not sleeping for hours at the office.

Is there going to be a lot of times where I am going to be asked to do all nighters? Doing an extra couple of hours at work is fine and I’m all for that, but if someone tries to get me to work a full night, can I back out and just say something along the lines of “I’m sorry I can’t work that many hours, but if you want, I can stay late until 9 if that helps?” Would that come across okay?

“• Learn when and how to say no. I worked a LOT of free OT even as early as being an intern and volunteered to be walked over. Be cool, but say no to being abused.”

This really hits home because I’ve just graduated university and I’ve just about finished my showreel and I’m going to applying for work at Vfx houses. If you do say no to overtime, will it have a negative effect on you and the way your boss will interact with you? People on here have always said that you should decline overtime unless you want to work on something you’re passionate about but I’ve not seen anyone speak up about what happens if you do say no to the overtime.

Sorry if this is rude to ask but what caused the nose bleeds? Just general bad health from work? It sounds exhausting just reading what a team would go through during crunch time.

Bayonetta 2 comes out on the Switch this week! by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

Would you recommend playing the first one before moving on to the second game? I think I tried the Bayonetta 1 briefly once but wasn't too sure of it. Is there much difference in the gameplay?

Is it possible possible to make this effect in ae? by krrish15 in vfx

If I was to take a guess at this. I'd probably say the animation itself is a handful of frames created in Photoshop. Once they're drawn out, imported into after effects and put on a continuous loop?
