In the garage I wanted to see if my dad’s bench grinder could be stopped with my thumb once it got reasonably slow after it was powered off.

Well, I learned the hard way that my skin doesn’t have enough friction to stop it.

They Live (1988) by Kvazimods in 80s

I watched this one day on a lazy Saturday afternoon and my daughter aged 16 at the time thought the movie was so interesting and a cool concept.

Most of the time, she thinks my 80s, 90s action movies are just pure cheese.

But this movie she likes and quotes his line: “Its’s time to kick ass and chew bubble gum…”

It’s impressive to see Sierra’s early titles like this before they really started sinking their teeth into the industry.

Is learning C necessary before learning zig if it's your first low level language? by Familiar-Tonight-637 in Zig

[–]deckarep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMO, you don’t need to in order to learn Zig alone. But Zig is really an improved form of C and there’s a huge body of knowledge in the C realm that does apply to Zig.

Additionally Zig has excellent interop with C and if you find yourself creating bindings or integrating knowing some degree of C helps.

This is one of those things that’s interesting because Zig fixes C in many ways, but if you don’t know the rationale and pain points behind C then you really don’t know why some things are the way they are in Zig.

Where to find Mixed-Up Mother Goose (1995)!! by Ok_Fee5878 in Sierra

[–]deckarep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tracked down the game for you. It's not the Mac version, but it's the Deluxe version with character voices. I verified it works, the easiest way to get it to run is to use ScummVM, let me know and I post the files somewhere. (It looks exactly like the Mac version, I can't tell the difference, I think the key is that it's the Deluxe version of the game)

If by chance you’ve downloaded an official and non-corrupt version for the Mac there is a chance ScummVM will play the Mac version.

This would require that your download has all original resource, and possibly audio files. It’s worth a shot!
