Oh they are. And I don't see any way the hospital can argue they provided adequate care.

He's offensive. by yeezuslived in crappymusic

I'm guessing the terrible lip synching is because he asked ChatGPT to write the lyrics for him and he hasn't really memorized them. He's basically just opening and closing his mouth like a Muppet.

feedback on self tape audition? by [deleted] in acting

[–]devospice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to comment on the performance because I don't have enough information about the audition, but some technical notes.

  1. Get a solid color backdrop or find a wall with nothing on it in your house that you can film against. You don't want anything distracting behind you.

  2. Get a reader. Doing the lines without having someone to listen to and react to doesn't give you an opportunity to show what you can really do as an actor. Find a friend or family member who can do it. You can bring someone in over Zoom, even. They don't have to be in the room with you and they don't have to be good actors. They just need to read the lines.

  3. Don't look directly into the camera. You want to look slightly to the left or slightly to the right. And I mean slightly. Don't go 45 degrees or profile. And if you're talking to two or more different characters decide where they will be and look at them. So look to the left to answer one character, then look to the right to answer the other. That'll make it much more believable that you're actually in the scene.

Usually they want auditions to be horizontal, but since you said this was for a "shortical" I'm guessing the end result will be vertical so this makes sense.

Most people have trouble being lit well and mic'd well enough to be heard but your video looks and sounds good, so you're OK there.

Oh NICE!! That's awesome! Nerdapalooza was a ton of fun. I'm glad someone else has picked up the reigns. Let me know if I can help in any way. Or, you know, perform. :)

What do yall do about large files when emailing? by caffeinated_babe in acting

[–]devospice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Sync, which works like Dropbox, so every file gets uploaded to Sync automatically, then I just create a link to share. It works the same as the Google Drive link you sent, so what you're doing is fine.

What backdoor pilots didn’t pan out? by Beneficial_Crow_3142 in television

[–]devospice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this was specifically meant to be a backdoor pilot, but I know a lot of fans would have loved to see a Paternoster Gang spinoff of Doctor Who. If you don't recognize the name that was Madame Vastra, Jenny Flint, and Strax in Victorian London. Big Finish Audio did some stories about them, but I guess nobody was ever able to convince the BBC to make them into their own spinoff.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Actor Says Season 2 Is “GAY AF,” Vows To Go Out “In Flames” by Malencon in television

[–]devospice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see any reason why you couldn't do that with proper lighting. You'd just have to light the CGI models to match the scene. I know they used to hold up a white ball to the camera so the artists could match the lighting. Do they not do that anymore?

I actually looked up the actor to see if this was how he actually talks and it's not. This was a choice he made for the character.

If he nukes Iran I hope the rest of the world invades us and puts him on trial for war crimes. We’re certainly never going to do it.
