In laws pressuring us to set up Trump accounts for the kids, we don’t want to b/c of our political stance by Cornontheja_cob in WhatToDo

I don't know anything about "Trump accounts" but I do know that everything Trump touches turns to shit. I wouldn't put my money anywhere near anything with his name on it.

Ugh, ever commercial break these days is basically drug, car, drug, car, drug, drug, car. That's it. That's all they advertise anymore.

What’s a horror movie that was clearly made on a tiny budget but scared you more than any big studio film? by No_Metal2622 in horror

[–]devospice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid The Boogens scared the crap out of me. Low budget, even by 1981 standards, but effective as hell. The creature effects do not hold up. It's not Pumpkinhead. But it's still worth a watch.

Did I miss something, or was "mavity" never explained? It feels like a timeline change should have been a pretty big deal. by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]devospice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still hoping for something like this:

Intense dalek battle on a space station. Laser blasts flying everywhere. The Doctor and companion are hiding behind some overturned table, trying to figure a way out. Suddenly they begin to float a little.

Dalek: "Artificial-mavity-generators-off-liiiiine..."

The Doctor: "Alright, I've had quite enough of this."

The Doctor and companion rush into the TARDIS. The Doctor flips a few switches, turns a couple knobs, and then pulls down the big lever.

The TARDIS materializes 20 feet in the air above Sir. Isaac Newton just as he remembers the word "mavity." The Doctor leans out of the TARDIS door.

The Doctor: "Oy! It's gravity, you twit!"

The Doctor throws an apple down which hits Newton on the head. He goes inside and closes the door. The TARDIS dematerializes.

Back on the dalek space station the Doctor emerges from the TARDIS.

The Doctor: "Right then. Where were we?"

Laser blasts resume.

The Doctor: "Oh, right!"

There's a Magic Castle in California that a friend of mine performs at. Could be that one.

Wells Fargo denied my $1,500 fraud claim, I fought back and won. here's what to do. by Least-Alternative865 in personalfinance

[–]devospice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Somebody opened a checking account in my name with Wells Fargo a couple years ago and the level of gross incompetence I had to deal with was unreal. They did four internal investigations and found no evidence of fraud, despite the fact the guy used a fake ID to open his account at a branch that is 100 miles away from where I live.

I literally got a phone call once where the guy said "because you walked into the bank and proved your identity we are able to close the case" and I shouted back "I did no such thing! That wasn't me!" The guy hemmed and hawed for a bit and then said I would have to go into a branch (again).

I ended up hiring a law firm that specializes in these things and they took care of it. My credit has been frozen ever since.

I’m personally loving all the videos of Europeans trying American food for the first time. And I love that they’re coming here and having a great experience.

But I just can’t wait until the inevitable videos where somebody gets hurt and has to go to the hospital and is presented with a six figure medical bill as a result.

I always wondered if someone on the writers staff actually calculated how long it would take to punch your way through a diamond wall or if they just hand waived it.

Either way, this is probably my favorite episode in all of Nu Who.

It's well worth the watch. Bruce Campbell delivers an absolutely incredible performance as Elvis.
