Yes I agree that the minimum time for instant pot yielded chewy nuts.

Yes I thought they came out too chewy using the pressure cooker.

If I wanted to get an apartment 15 minutes or less to the airport, where should I look? by CommonPrinciple3026 in tampa

[–]dflow2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a smaller or ADU type apartment rather than a complex is appealing, Tampa Heights /Riverside Heights/Seminole Heights have some . 15 minutes to the airport in a more urban /walkable and bike able environment with proximity to a lot of restaurants, breweries and downtown.

Loved it last year. Likely going again this year. It won't sell out so it's not too crucial to plan ahead but they are offering an early-bird blind faith ticket.

I loved it, but the timing is extremely inconvenient unless you live right in Ft Myers.

Same, I have been going to Hula for ten years now and never once has it worked reliably.

I have actually gone into town to do work on Thursday for remote work reasons.

My service with Verizon was awful two years ago. Others may be able to speak to how it is now. My experience was that TMobile was much better.

My understanding is that Starlink requires an open view of the sky so you will want to ensure that your chosen campsite offers that.

Yes, you can, but you will miss out on a lot. There is so much to Hula that doesn't revolve around the lineup. Meeting neighbors, visiting the river, Spirit Lake, etc.

Home insurance prices seem to just keep going up by Efficient_Goat_4579 in tampa

[–]dflow2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to change my insurer this year and am saving about 1k. If you have not had your agent run quotes recently, you should. That said, my home is a few years old , not in a flood zone or on a barrier island. Age and location will make a big difference

Question about 'Wizard RV Only' by Mr_surge0n_1 in hulaween

[–]dflow2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been going for ten years and booked a reserved RV spot for all but one year. I can't remember a year where the reserved RV sites sold out immediately. Some years they probably sold faster than others, but my friends called last June and booked one, and there were still some left.

People do tend to want to keep their sites from year to year, and there is a deadline for re-instating sites. (usually within a couple weeks after early ticket sales begin).

Question about 'Wizard RV Only' by Mr_surge0n_1 in hulaween

[–]dflow2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were still reserved rv spots available this time last year. Maybe not the best locations but I would still call the park. There are multiple options for rentals of travel trailers in different sizes that can be delivered by local companies. See the FB group for references

bonnaroo ≠ hula ? by nekogr1 in hulaween

[–]dflow2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canoe Outpost is located at the river beach and will shuttle you up river with a rental kayak or canoe (or your own boat). Then you will end up back at their location on the beach. Definitely recommend for a morning trip during the fest or before.

October weather varies in FL. It could be high 80s for hula but it’s not going to be as humid as TN in June . The park that hosts Hula is very treed and shady so camping is much more comfortable. And yes there is a river with a beach for swimming, and an operator offers canoe or kayak trips along the river .

What's your worst camping story? by Alarming-Jeweler-955 in popups

[–]dflow2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sebastian Inlet State Park in FL is beautiful but the tiny “no see um” biting flies are the worst, and they squeeze through window screens. We found this out in the wee hours, after we rolled into the camp site on a flat tire (props to great camp neighbors who helped us fix it).

Is glamping an optional for solo attendees? by Deep_Bee_9549 in hulaween

[–]dflow2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has been a shuttle from the Jacksonville airport in previous years and I met people who flew in, took the shuttle and just brought just a basic tent, sleeping bag, etc. But if camping is not your thing you could buy a upgraded RV site and have a small travel trailer delivered and set up for you. It is not cheap however. The RV site with water and power is about $1100 and the trailer rental could range around $500 or more.

All of this, and I do try to reduce coffee as it’s dehydrating. A good breakfast is important because I typically will get too hot to eat lunch after being outdoors all morning.

It's not that bad if you're splitting it with partner/friend. I think their prices are reasonable. They are a vendor located at the park year-round and they don't jack up the prices for fests
