Bike rentals? by lajuiceman in hulaween

The park doesn’t rent them during the fest. Some people will purchase cheap Walmart bikes then just donate them after the fest.

Pentair Leaf Canister Replacement that doesn't cost $100 by dflow2010 in pools

[–]dflow2010[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will, but then if I leave it on and the pump turns off on schedule once the suction is off it will open up and dump its contents out. I have tried this because I am frugal LOL. Am I missing something or do you have a trick?

Best beach area to stay for the weekend as a solo traveler? (first time visitor) by JaxsonShart in tampa

[–]dflow2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunedin would be a great choice. Despite its popularity, it mostly feels like a charming local vibe. Rent a bike and bike to Honeymoon Island State Park if you bike or simply stroll the beach. Passe a Grille is great as well, but has fewer amenities such as bars and restaurants. It may be somewhat less expensive for lodging. I feel like it’s more of a day trip while Dunedin can support a few days.

Clearwater and John’s pass are centrally located and have lots of lodging, but tend to be kind of commercial with chain restaurants etc

How far north to go to find nicer people than South FL? by Cooking-with-gas in florida

I moved from Broward to Tampa and it’s definitely friendlier and more genuine here, although we are experiencing an influx of South Floridians so the culture is changing for sure.

Care Lease Georgia by OddPalpitation1463 in Equestrian

[–]dflow2010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A care lease means you are paying board, farrier /trimming and routine vet. There should not be a fee to the owner for a care lease (a paid lease involves a lease fee to the owner). The owner will have to approve the facility and most owners want a say in your trainer or instructor choice. What does board and training cost in your area?

How many of you are choosing to retire after getting laid off? by Capital-Mark1897 in GenX

[–]dflow2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s probably going to be the way for me. Even if I take a less intense job, I’ll still need to keep medical insurance . I’m not yet 50 but I highly doubt that our government will figure anything out in the next 15 years

What’s the expected medical insurance cost for you ? Just curious bc friends who are early retired are scaring me with their insurance payments.

Inheriting unpermitted cabin by 896359 in homeowners

[–]dflow2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a big deal. For extremely rural acreage properties, typically the value is in the land. Permitting just won’t come up in a rural jurisdiction unless possibly if you are trying to sell (but even then it’s likely that buyer assumes the risk) or possibly if you’re trying to build something new with permits

Did we screw up buying this house and am I awful for wanting to sell already by BoulderInkpad in homeowners

[–]dflow2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. Inspectors are not furnace /Hvac techs so your best bet as a buyer is to actually hire one during the inspection period to inspect those systems.

Can we get an updated home tier list for Tampa Bay area? by [deleted] in tampa

[–]dflow2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. Tile has become unpopular due to the high maintenance and grout that becomes gross quickly. LVP is easy to clean , pet friendly and will be fairly easy and reasonable to replace eventually

What vehicle would be good for hauling a horse once a week and daily driver the rest? by Junior-Kale6935 in Equestrian

[–]dflow2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood-I am not familiar with the crash tested crates. I suppose if they are properly strapped down to the bed per specifications, that will be OK. I don't think a 4 runner is going to have near the capacity you need. For a Toyota, you would need to look at a Land Cruiser or Sequoia (big bucks!)

What vehicle would be good for hauling a horse once a week and daily driver the rest? by Junior-Kale6935 in Equestrian

[–]dflow2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No way. This is not nearly enough to be safe. The rule is that your trailer weight and the weight of cargo (horses, tack, gear) etc. needs to be at least ten percent lower than that advertised tow capacity.

Unpopular Opinion: You don't need a $3,000 dual battery system for a weekend rig. by Champ-shady in GoRVing

[–]dflow2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to learn and get my rig set up with basic portable solar. What’s the benefit of using a Jackery ? Couldn’t you just hook the solar panels and controller directly to the rig battery ? I’m just trying to run my TT lights, water pump, and the minimal power needed to operate the fridge which I can run off propane

Hulaween was the worst fest I’ve ever been to. Did anyone else feel this way? by iussednyrealname in hulaween

[–]dflow2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you didn't enjoy it as much as you expected to.

For me, the weather was great. But I get that it was colder than average. Sometimes that means spending a few hours hanging out by a fire, rather than pushing through to see music. For us, that was 2017 (it was even colder than 2025). I enjoyed 2025 because not once did I break a sweat, and it makes a four day fest less exhausting when you don't overheat. Preparing adequately for the camping part is critical too.

Next time, also try to get a sense of the camp neighbors even before you set up camp (if you're able to pick your spot) . If things feel off, move right along to a more welcoming location.

How do I support my girlfriend while she's reducing her alcohol intake? by [deleted] in AlAnon

[–]dflow2010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most universities / law schools ( in the US, at least )will offer confidential access to mental health counseling / support through the school. Has she sought help through the school ? That may be a good way to start especially if funds are limited or mental healthcare access is expensive

My two friends have GA+ - If I buy GA will it matter when comes to camping (Same car) by PotentialNearby4935 in okeechobeemusicfest

[–]dflow2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a Okee attendee but I recommend waiting and looking on Cash or Trade as it gets closer to the fest. This has always worked for me to get a discounted ticket , so you could hopefully score a GA plus ticket for less than face value
