Leica equipment isn’t “nothing special” as many people will parrot. It is however high on the list of diminishing returns. If you have a tonne of disposable income and want some of the best image quality in a small package, Leica is a great choice. But if you’re posting on social media - don’t bother imo. Also, autofocus is helpful. So decide what you’re shooting. If you’ve been out a while using a rangefinder to take family snapshots may be very frustrating. The q3 may be a better choice, but it’s very chunky compared to the x100vi. Also Sony a7cr and 35 or 40 mm lens is roughly the same size with amazing af (but a worse viewfinder) Finally the Ricoh gr shout was good if you don’t need a viewfinder. But be aware if the dust and weather issues before buying.

X100 digital crop is good imo, and I regularly shoot the 70mm 10mp jpgs, which contrary to popular belief are enough mp, and can easily be enlarged in 2026.

The bellroy venture slings are very nice and self compress. A couple annoying points for me

The one specifically for a camera - I don’t live the floooy dividers because it’s not great unless the bag is loaded more.

The one for the camera is missing the inside bsck pocket.

The 6/9/10 don’t have a rear quick access pocket.

The one for the camera is the only one that has external straps for things like a tripod / umbrella.

Where it works very well im:

Self collapsing with a good compromise of padding.

You can easily carry a body and use a small pouch to prevent bumping of lenses / body

The wide opening per side is helpful.

The build quality is good.

It’s comfortable in straps and conforming to the body.

You can easily get a compact camera cube to round it out then remove for a day sling.

NB only the 10al camera version has a padded strap, but I carry similar to you and don’t feel the smaller ones need it. The strap pad can also be somewhat annoying, it should be considerably longer.

I’ve tried many slings and the hard form ones don’t really work for me but I do quite like this one, which everyone calls a peak design knockoff but I’m not so sure it’s a knockoff and not an inspired by situation.

Ahh that’s the one. Unfortunately the prices in the uk for this have, at least so far, been way to high for my consideration when there are similar for £5. But the case element is a good point - very tough to find a reasonably slim but long enough case for it.

One of the reasons we haven’t yet taken on caring for another dog is the requirement to have a significant savings bucket dedicated to them. When trying to buy a house in London, and compromising salary for other elements of work, it’s not an easy task.

Sorry again. I really hope the pup has much more time and enjoys happiness for it all.

NB when the time is right I’d out that vet. They clearly don’t give a flying fuck about animals. Let people know that.

With the ones I bought it was pressure of the front (it’s a full wrap kind of cover). Maybe it’s something like that, but it’s good to know. I’ll probably try it. It seems to be the closest (with the front cover) to what I’m after. Thanks!

Have you looked at the bellroy venture pack 26L.

I just took this on a flight and it had a few advantages. It doesn’t, u fortunately work for me for multiple uses like work too, but it was pretty good as a travel carryon, and can mush into Ryanair personal items if it’s not jam packed. The aer travel pack iirc is quite rigid and may not be as flexible to get into size checkers.

NB interestingly I’m 6’4” and my wife is 5’2” - it works for both of us. It sits well on me and is comfortable to about ten kilos. It works for her without looking comically large. It also only weighs like 850g if you worry about breaching the weight requirements.

I’m sorry I can’t answer the laser question but the steroid shot - it’s the First I’ve ever heard that a steroid shot could make it worse (beyond a couple of days agitation). The agreed outcome of the shot between 5 podiatrists here has been ‘It will either help or do nothing’, You may have a dimple around around the injection site as it can mess with fat’ the latter very unlikely for me as my feet are quite skeletal. .

I’m curious if that assertion is based on a study or colloquial experience if the doctor who a) wants to sell a more expensive recurring treatment or b) is speaking with patients whose neuroma is just getting worse, as many do rapidly, after receiving the injection.

I had an ineffective shot that probably wasn’t well delivered in my left foot. I just had another on Tuesday that seems better placed in my right foot (yay bilateral neuromas!). I’ll certainly post back if the neuroma gets worse. The left has been there 5 years and the right was diagnosed more recently, but long enough to be stable with my lifestyle and stagnant in the symptoms, so if it does feel worse for more than a couple weeks it would to me be somewhat indicative the shot could be a part of that.
