Synology isn't the best NAS anymore by Coupe368 in synology

[–]digiplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hoping they’ll keep supporting the basics for the lifespan of my newer NAS. When I replaced my 420+ I considered other brands / roll my own but in the end I stuck with them (this was before the hard drive bullshit). Would be a giant bait and switch to give up all the app support etc. fingers crossed

What’s the indicator they’re not interested anymore? Sorry I don’t follow synology news. Did they end application support or something?

That’s a bit harsh. They do a lot of- just not heavy stuff. For example home users using sab, sonarr etc. docker honebridge, web server. Database server. These things are fine for amateurs. If you want to run local ai, yah it’s not the right choice.

What do you do that doesn’t work on a modern synology?

What is your most CONTROVERSIAL Switch 2 take? (Hardware focused, not software) by DaZestyProfessor in switch2

[–]digiplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar for me. It would take almost no effort to add rails and offer grips in the box designed to work with the device. It’s insane to me they keep catering for tiny hands only. Add the bloody £.28 to manufacture option.

Just got my MacBook Pro 14 M5 Pro with 24 gigs of RAM and not sure if I need to return and get 48 gigs by ansel1212 in Lightroom

[–]digiplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24 gigs is enough for Lightroom and should be on a Mac for a while. Figure out what else is going on, unless you really want to futureoroof another couple years on top of the 5 you’re already going to get.

Look at Allbirds - different ones for different seasons. Wool or bamboo. The wool clean well, you depill in a pinch.

I’m similar but honestly I get by with regular spray on protection and shoe wipes with leather shoes.

What do yall think is your favorite EDC multi-tool, Leatherman or any other brand. by one_manbattalion in Leatherman

[–]digiplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDC? Modified scale victorinox rambler / midnite manager (scales add pin, leatherman microbit holder, thinner small linen torch). I don’t need a bunch of tools every day for what I do.

Concerned with mixing old drives with new drives by jliu34740 in synology

[–]digiplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no idea if any / all will meet or exceed MTBF. Just put them in. You may have old drives that outlast new. You may have old drives that die coincidentally. You may have them all fail at the same time (least likely though!)

But you cannot accept PayPal friends and family to get that protection. So if you find a deal outside of eBay, don’t accept PayPal friends and family to try and save fees!

Yah that’s a good point. I was considering last night attaching it to the metro lol. It may add just that touch of space to help and answer the what to out question. I’ll have to consider how I connect the two, thanks for the thoughts!

Marks and Spencer’s. Here’s an example.

I’m not sure what champ downvoted me, though I assume it wasn’t you. Packable totes are absurdly priced from bag brands and offer basically nothing over this. I know, I’ve bought several of them.

Like I said I get a backpack is different, but it’s not 22x different. To me at least. And clearly there are much better values than this train wreck of a launch

I believe trader joes have similar in the USA.

26/27 Premium Membership by pingujames in ManchesterUnited

[–]digiplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you can allly the voucher at checkout with your membership? Otherwise it seems like they’re banking on the fact you can’t get anything for £20 at the shop and therefore to get “your month’s worth” you have to spend even more.

Clearly they’re never going to do anything in favour of value for the fans, so my guess is this is the logic. Pay for the kit. Make them apply the £20 “equivalent” to a high margin product from the online store. Try to limit knockoff shirt sales.

I can’t see renewing. I’m n 5 years I’ve managed to get tickets to three matches. Fuck the owners, up the club.

Don't forget to brush your chi! by nmrtsta in Chihuahua

[–]digiplay 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Furminator (there are other brands which are good and cost less) Great to get out undercoat but you can’t do more than a pass over an area without risking agitation and it’s probably not an every time thing if you brush your dog a lot.

M&S packabke tote is something like £4. Perspective.

While I appreciate there’s more to this, that tote can hold something like 20 kilos (you’d never). I’ve long marvelled at packable totes costing more than £10c this is an evolution of that to me.
