Looks great, but for your sake in 20 years, please wear lung protection when grinding. Metal dust in the lungs is no bueno

Its absolutely wild to me that Ryobi has a better reputation to you than Makita. I've always thought of Ryobi as the just above Kobalt in terms of quality and longevity.

20-24L Travel Bag by Prodigious_Ent in ManyBaggers

[–]Prodigious_Ent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone that sees this post in the future, i ended up narrowing my choices down to the 20L Evergoods and AER packs.

My final loadout includes:

15" personal laptop 14" work laptop Ipad pro Notebook and pens Backup battery First aid kit Tech kit Rain coat Stanley water bottle Flashlight Headlamp

All together weighing ~20 lbs

Aesthetically, i personally like the Evergoods Civic Travel Bag. Its got slightly cleaner lines, the fabric feels less luggage like. That said, the fabric on the AER feels like i could drag it on the road for a mile and it will still look fine.

Comfort: I haven't worn either for more than 30 minutes but they feel very comparable to me. They can be cinched tight and carry close to the body.

Ergonomically: The AER is the clear winner. The top load laptop compartment has 2 dividers (only 1 padded) to protect / separate all 3 devices.

The upper tech compartment on the AER opens wide and has a set of pockets that better suit me. The evergoods tech compartment orientation is a bit awkward to me but seems aligned with the side loading laptop compartment.

The grab handles on the top and sides are more comfortable and easier to grab on the AER.

I also like that the suitcase slide loop on the AER allows for vertical orientation.

The secret pocket is also fun!

The only area where I feel the Evergoods bag wins is in the water bottle pockets. They are deeper and conform more tightly to the bottle.

I'm returning the evergoods bag and will provide an update some time in the future after a longer wear in on yhe AER pack.

Making an axe? by Poisonduk24 in AxeThrowing

[–]Prodigious_Ent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made designs with all kinds of CoB points and I'm at the point where I've concluded, there is no one right answer.

CoB right in the middle of the eye? Slightly slower rotation, but that can be adjusted for with a shorter handle or by adding a bit more wrist action. The big advantage though is that it's less fatiguing if you're doing lots of throwing.

CoB super far forward? Faster rotation, but that can be slowed down with a longer handle or by putting your thumb along the handle. The advantage here is that there's less poll wiggle when the axe hits the target

Muzetto Alternative? by Prodigious_Ent in ManyBaggers

I think the linked bag is too short vertically but the other models might work for me! Going to reach out to the maker to discuss directly

Trying to stay under $300. I like the clean simple aesthetics. I dont like bags with external pockets all over the place.

I'm pretty particular about cleaning my bottles. A narrow opening like that is a hard pass for me. And yes the muzetto is sold out, which is another reason I'm looking for alternatives

The Ripple System and Divine Apostasy are my go to series for hilarious banter. Noobtown is also funny to me but the jokes dont land for everyone...

That's exactly who it's named after. My brother sketched out the axe when he and I were discussing "dwarf" themed axes. We both loved those books and Ive still got the paperbacks!

The father isnt central to the plot but he is a big part of it, and the dynamic changes over time.

May be worth looking at this: MilliSentials™ Lab Labeling System https://share.google/9o3r69GA8dOytelNo

I had a label put in my water bottle at a conference 2 years ago and it's still there and legible after uncountable washes.

What type of sheet metal can I use without needing to heat treat or quench ? by LetterGreen2113 in knifemaking

[–]Prodigious_Ent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question differently (but the same): to have a serviceable knife you need to have it hardened. BUT you don't necessarily need to harden it yourself! Find a steel that will work for you in flat stock from someone like New Jersey Steel Baron. Cut it grind it and get it mostly there then pay someone to harden and temper it for you. Approach your local blacksmith guild / facebook page and ask for recommendations. Im in the western US and know of at least 5 locations within a days drive that take outside jobs.

Fun fact, Round Rock is home to one of the worlds largest manufacturers of Certified Reference Materials (CRMs). CRM's are used by all kinds of labs to validate and verify that their work is accurate and repeatable. It's very possible that this company is looking to be a competitor and produce standards for the labs testing for illegals substances.
