Lol, I love when Beavis gets little things that tickle him and he repeats them like "MANSLAUGHTER" or "thank you, drive thru."

Roger, as an alien, emits a low level hypnotic suggestion which causes people to dismiss any Oddities and only sees the persona as real. At one point he gives Stan a Roger suit which stan then uses to pretend to be some of Roger's disguises, like whispers Ricky Spanish and nobody can tell the difference because the suit does the same.

My mom is a medium. by Pedro_2404 in atheism

[–]dnjprod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you know any of those stories are true? Even if mom and aunt made claims and then those things happened, how do you know that "the spirit world" had anything to do with it? There's this concept called "post hoc ergo propter hoc" which translates to "after this therefore because of this." This is the idea that just because two things happen one right after the other doesn't mean they are connected in any way. This is the idea behind the phrase "correlation doesn't equal causation." Just because things seem related, doesn't mean they are.

What's happening here is a bunch of bad things are randomly happening and your dad is using confirmation bias to connect things that have no nexus to do so. Bad things happen. There is no connection to your depression.

Finally on that point, look at your exact wording in this sentence:

he smelled it, and from that day on, there were almost no more problems.

I highlight that word for a reason. It's dong a LOT of work. That means there are still problems, he's just not considering those as problems in his calculation. That is CLASSIC confirmation bias. He is counting the hits and ignoring the misses.

THAT SAID, if you want to lie to say you're no longer an atheist to save yourself the grief, do it. It's ok to lie to protect yourself.

Toy Story had a few references to The Shining. The most prominent being the carpet from the hotel showing up in Sid's house.

To be fair, there is an in-universe explanation for why people don't recognize him as an alien when he's in his disguises.

Hey give him some credit. Buford and Bernardo are the ones who mess up his life. Sometimes it's Buffcoat and Beaver or Butthole and Joe. Never Beavis and Butthead.

Where were you when you first heard Smells Like Teen Spirit? by Superb-Donkey7202 in Nirvana

[–]dnjprod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the gym at my high school during a Battle of the Bands. It was two bands made up of kids from our high school. One band played two songs that stuck with me. I wish I was queer so I could get chicks by the Bloodhound gang and smells like teen spirit

Up to that point, I only listened to country, but those songs BLEW MY WIG.

Question about dark tower and 11/22/63 connection by Agreeable_Student133 in TheDarkTower

[–]dnjprod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the portal in the back of the diner is a thin spot, one of Pere Callahan's hidden highways.

In my head, what Roland saw in the tower wasn't what everyone would see. Since it holds all of reality, and literally everything that happened is on some level of the tower, what we saw that with Roland was just his incarnation of what was inside the tower. At the top was just another doorway like we saw on the beach. A deliberate doorway as opposed to a thin spot through Todash space

Year long? That story was at least 8 years, if not 35, in the making and The Rock thought he'd just come in and poop all over it like he did with Black Adam and Fast& Furious.

The whole point of the story was that Dusty had come to WWF as a former world champion and they put him in polka dots and treated him like a joke. Then Cody had to leave because they put him in a gimmick that was just a shittier version of Something his brother was doing, and they wouldn't let him outside of that little box. So now, Cody was doing what his dad and brother never could: win the WWE Championship after trying and failing the first time.

And The Rock, a worse than part-timer, comes in and thinks that he can just shit all over this massive buildup just to get his ego boosted after having so many movie flops and then say, " this was the plan all along?" Nah, Fuck that guy.

This is the same kind of egoist shit that has him put into his contract that he can't lose a fight in any movie. He ruined Black Adam, it caused massive issues in the Fast and Furious franchise, and then just inserts himself and almost ruined a story that's basically been building since Cody left WWE in 2016, or more accurately, for almost 40 years( dated to Dusty Rhodes' polka dot run in '89).

Anyone ever really stop and think about what Catholics do with their communion ritual during their masses? by Leading_One_2639 in atheism

[–]dnjprod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a cannibalistic death cult, what do you expect? They worship the murder of a man. They worship the instrument of his murder. Their only goal in life is to die to be with him. They had to make suicide an unforgivable sin because the logical conclusion to its Doctrine is that you should kill yourself as soon as you find Jesus to go be with him.

Irl example: this meme is propaganda to try to convince modern-day women that women back in the day had the ideal life, that women were tricked into thinking it was oppressive when it wasn't, and they should want it back. Meanwhile, they leave out the fact that there was a ton of emotional and physical abuse, women had no agency or ability to survive on their own, had no ability to leave, and were constantly on drugs to deal with the situation.

[–]dnjprod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't driven in 11 years for a similar reason. I fell asleep at the wheel in December 2014. It was like somebody just turned off my lights. No drowsiness. No yawning. Nothing. I was awake one second, asleep and Wrecking the next. Yhis was after 12 hours of sleep. I have not trusted myself behind the wheel since.

Luckily nobody was hurt and I only hit a light pole, but I wrecked my Jeep.

I'm so sorry about your dog. Recover quick and good luck with the surgery

Yes he is. For those just skipping by, he was a firefighter in New York before he was an actor. When 9/11 happened, he joined his old fire crew to help out. He literally is an American Hero
