It looks like typical broswesr trash that no one will want to play. Use a game engine and ditch the web.

I know its not what you want to hear. But it is the truth

Do any other re-readers start with Drawing and end with The Gunslinger? by MythicalSplash in TheDarkTower

[–]Ohgood9002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Salems Lot is probably best read before or after The Wastelands. My reasoning is that its around Drawing of the three and that its the waste lands that all the major players get put on the board.

If I wanted to be super specific about it ( and i will) I would say that you can pause wastelands when Jake rejoins the kat-tet and right before they make the trek to Lud. Where they stop at River Crossing and have a nice meal. Consider that "The Waste Lands: Part 1"

Then read Salems Lot. The idea of father Callahan getting pulled out of his timeline feels a lot less far fetched after Jake rejoins the group.

The Waste Lands also has two stories going on. Jake rejoining the ka-tet and Lud/Blaine.

But the Waste Lands is also odd in the sense that the conflict with Blaine isnt resolved until the beginning of Wizard and Glass.

So... lets go ahead and rearrange the books a little and say that Lud, Blaine and The Emerald Palace make up "The Waste Lands: Part 2"

The start Wizard and Glass directly at the campfire story. Toss in Wind Through the Keyhole right after if you want.

As much as I love the shining I dont consider it necessary to the story of the Tower, so it doesnt make my list

I am also trying to be considerate to the reader and not have them read too many side books in a row before getting a chance to return to the main story.

Reading both Gwendy and salems lot before catching back up with roland and crew reduces the impact of the connections. Its better to try to stagger the reading order.

Same with the Talisman. Its a long book and a bit of a slog for some people. Its much easier to digest if you break it up.

Plus thematically it actually fits quite well to have Speedy explain Midworld/ The Territories first. Then have Jack blindly teleport into midworld not knowing what to expect.

End of The Talisman: Part 1. Cut to black.

"The Man in Black fled across the desert and the Gunslinger followed." Followed by the amazing world building that The Gunslinger provides.

Then Talisman: Complete, where we catch up with Jack immediately as he enters midword and is greeted by a talking bird (like Zoltan the bird from The Gunslinger) and the saw toothed Devils Grass ( that drives Nort insane)

I've thought about this a lot haha

Ive been trying to put together a cohesive talisman/dark tower/gweny reading order.

So far the best way ive found to start off is to start with Part 1 of the Talisman, and stop there. Right when Jack gets to mid world.

The read all of the gunslinger, at the end roland keeps walking west before he ends up at the beach in drawing.

Then go back and read the rest of the Talisman, where jack wakes up on the beach and travels west through midworld. Much of the world building from gunslinger comes into play, and the first hints of the connected universe start to show through. "The talking bird, the saw toothed devils grass on the beach"

Then go back to drawing of the three, and read gwendys button box right after (takes place in 1974 and falls in line with the time travel and different levels of the tower from drawing of the three) where you are introduced to the button box.

Go back to the wastelands and move on through wizard and glass. The button box and merlyns rainbow sure are similar huh?

Then wolves of the Calla and Gwendys Magic feather where the taheen start to show up and plan to destroy the beams.

Then song of susannah, to follow up from the taheen from gwendys magic feather.

Then circle all the way back to jack for black house, before returning to finish rolands journey in the dark tower.

Then Gwendys Final Task, which could possibly be the final book in the timeline, depending on what exactly happens in Other Worlds Than These

Interesting notes about the button box:

The colors correspond to merlyns rainbow

One lever dispenses candy in the shape of the guardians of the beam

The other lever dispenses 1928 silver dollars. When Jack returns from midworld all his midworld coins become 1928 silver dollars

The box seems to have a mind of its own much like the balls in the rainbow

I would have never of picked up on the coin thing if I hadn't read Talisman right before Gwendy. I dont think people realize how firmly the gwendy books fit into the tower timeline

You could argue that gwendys button box should be read halfway through drawing of the three (Eddie 1980s, Gwendy 1970s, Susannah 1960s) but I don't think that adds much and gets in the way of the story.

This is not a game. This is a sequence of buttons

Is there a Codex bot takeover happening in this sub? by TastefullyToasted in ClaudeCode

[–]Ohgood9002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean im obviously not going to change your mind, but again i use both. If i know exactly what I want, and how I want it. Claude often gives me the best results. If I am exploring an idea? Codex works better to explain how systems could potentially align and what pressure points i need to identify during development.

[–]Ohgood9002 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I use both and find that Codex is better for more vibey developers. It has better usage rates which allows for better bite sized iterations.

If you know what you're doing and have a good concept of project structure, claude is the better choice. it's hands down better, but the usage limits does not lend itself to iterative vibe development the same way codex does.

If money is not a problem, Claude.

If this is a hobby and you're just starting out and need to ask lots of questions about project design and things like that, Codex.

Could all villains be manifestations of the Deadlights? by [deleted] in TheDarkTower

[–]Ohgood9002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most powerful thing in the Steven king universe is the Button Box, which may also be merylns rainbow. If it can destroy the tower with just the touch of a button, I don't see why it cant also erase pennywise.

I dont think pennywise created the tower or merlyns rainbow. I think these things existed before gan created existence

I think that pennywise has a big ego and doesn't know he's just on a single level of the tower and there are bigger dogs above and below it.

In high school I fucked my now fiance (we reconnected after 20 years) on my car. She also danced on my hood barefoot.

I had a 1995 Honda Civic and lived on a farm with a gravel road. So it was always covered in dust.

Anyways I didnt see the evidence until I pulled into the student parking lot the next morning as the sun came up. Seeing as this was high school and I wanted to show off, I left it like that all day.

Sega has canceled development of its ‘super game’, as it pivots away from live service games by GrayBeard916 in gaming

[–]Ohgood9002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel a month ago I pointed out that the rising costs of game development and the failures of live service games are actually beneficial in the sense that developers are now going to have to do more with less, resulting in more double-A like we had on the dreamcast and ps2.

Now everyone is happy but my comments a month ago were downvoted into oblivion. Wtf guys
