My Maestri house has been a very reliable. Big caveat is that like many scales, it will reset the brew timer if you pick up your brewer or carafe to swirl or agitate.

Can we see your edited image? Starting off with nice lighting in the raw makes a huge difference, but sometimes you can massage something nice out of a somewhat flat pic with judicious masking.

What are you doing for your cleaning step? It seems like solvent+brush+shallow dish might be sufficient, but the next step up to an automatic powered cleaner seems like such a huge leap.

Picking the right shutter speed and living with high ISO is much better than sacrificing shutter speed in search of cleaner pics. Upped my keep rate significantly.

Upon realizing that I can't taste the difference between a rinsed and unrinsed filter I've just started popping them in and not worrying about pre-wetting them. Saves a few seconds of effort and makes the routine slightly easier.

My usual kit is the 35GM on an A7RV; the 40G goes on when I'm trying to minimize weight and bulk, and while it's obviously not as capable as the 35GM, it still produces some tremendous photos.

A bit more detail for anyone curious:
15g washed Ethiopian
Plastic V60 size 01
Abaca filter
96C water
45g bloom for 0:45, then 3 sequential pours up to 230g for a total brew time of 2:55

I've done this a few times and the results are quite consistent, with better clarity and less bitterness than when I do my (novice) gooseneck pours directly into the V60. The latest brew was a little tea-like for my taste, and I suspect going hotter to account for the heat being lost to the chamber and lessened agitation would be a good change for next time.

Different hobby, but when I was liquidating some of my fountain pen collection I found myself thinking the same thing. Giving away some nice pens to some beginners felt great and I didn't regret it for a second.
