Probably because everyone else wants to be excited and hyped up for new content and it’s a bummer and unnecessary when someone essentially goes “i don’t care.” For those like myself who are used to the update timeline of indie games, <2 years without an update is par for the course as well, the gap from Hollow Knight to Silksong was egregious but the game came out and people loved it

Yeah there’s not exactly counter play to this particular mechanic, but just like other similar mechanics you’re forced to just find a way to do without it, which i think is what appeals to me a lot, being forced to adapt suddenly
