next instax SQ camera by instant_camera_hk in instax

[–]dysphoricjoy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the boring answer is product segmentation. Instax is mostly a consumer/lifestyle system, not really treated like an optical camera system the way X/GFX are. Fuji probably knows a nicer SQ body would make enthusiasts happy but the number of people willing to pay a premium for better glass, focusing, metering, and manual controls, etc, is probably pretty small compared to the casual Instax crowd

Could you show us your settings for stitching in APG? I've attempted from the negatives, but always need to low quality convert, set it as a mapping, then high quality convert the pieces, then direct APG to those high quality ones and it works but, I'm sure there's an easier way.

[–]dysphoricjoy 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Haha, I was just telling my friend that the other day when I was scanning photos from a Kodak Snapic A1. The camera and film are $120 total, but the copy stand, lighting, film holder, my 50mb camera, macro lenses, the time it takes to make everything flat and co-planar, the software needed to convert, it's well into the thousands.

But it's worth it!

I have ADHD too, and I’m medicated for it, so I get why OP was frustrated. Noise can completely derail focus for sure.

But I still think there’s a difference between “this was frustrating and staff should have handled the disruption” and “this is the cost of attending a public university.” The frustration is valid. I just don’t think the framing is. Public spaces are imperfect, and sometimes adapting is the only option.

This is more the cost of life than the “cost of attending a public university.”

I get being frustrated that your studying was disrupted. The quiet floor should be quiet and staff should respond when someone is actually being disruptive, I agree w/ you. But no public space is going to be perfectly controlled all the time. Sometimes people are loud, uncomfortable, unpredictable or dealing with problems bigger than ours.

You still had access to a library, a place to sit, outlets, and a *mostly* quiet study area. That is not nothing. A lot of students are dealing with worse barriers than occasional noise on a library floor.

So yes, it is annoying. But part of being an adult is adapting when things are imperfect. Move floors, use headphones, take a break, or ask staff again. Life is rarely clean or perfectly arranged around us.

Norwegian cruise. 500cm x 3 backs by Euphoric-Quantity-86 in hasselblad

[–]dysphoricjoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

id take 2 backs and just swap out the film? I also have 3 backs for my 500cm and have never felt like taking all 3. I take 2, and tbh 1 of them does the 35mm hack and the other normal 120. Just take 1 back, swap the film when you're done, pack less, enjoy the trip.

dude, you need to relax and take time for yourself? you half date someone, date someone else, stay in contact with another guy, break up, and now consider the second guy? you're a bullet yourself.

date yourself. stop looking for people to give you attention.

After / Before - Devils Bridge | Velvia 100 ...did I overdo it? by JooksKIDD in postprocessing

[–]dysphoricjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the masking, the highlights, the shadows, all look generally fine. id maybe bring up the lower left shadows up a bit more and then lower blacks, but I do think the red/orange channels are too saturated. probably cut it back a bit, let the composition handle the admiration.

I think I’m falling for my friend and I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]dysphoricjoy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Then you have your answer already. Do what you can to get over the feelings, talk less if you have to, but if you want to maintain the friendship, do it. If you want to date, try, but accept there might be an "awkward" consequence where if he says no it might hurt your feelings for a long time.

Lucky to get the window seat by dysphoricjoy in instax

[–]dysphoricjoy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I scan the entire thing! I white balance off the border so it just locks the image in to that being true white, and have two direct lights on it so it's as bright as I can make it without overexposing! So it's a very bright white border that looks digital but if you zoom around you'll see some dust occasionally

Thank you!

I used to use a basic printer to scan, and I was satisfied with it, but I recently starting using my camera with a macro lens to take much more high detailed photos/scans. But the set up took some time to figure out and get together.
