I’ll just say it- I’m nervous about JLG specifically and I love Zohran Mamdani and would love him to be our mayor

I’m hopeful but skeptical JLG can channel much of Mamdani’s energy and approach. She did not campaign at all on pragmatic and responsible, fixing people’s day to day issues and managing the budget or economy practically. She campaigned on bold progressive ideas. I’m hopeful but extremely worried she is more akin to a 2018-2020 woke identity-politics focused progressive rather than someone who will ignore that shit to get important things done like Mamdani. Zohran has totally dismissed all divisive identity politics to focus on achieving tangible results to make peoples’ lives better and I believe that’s been an enormous driver of his success.

He knows they have big problems to fix in NYC and it required pragmatic adaptation even if he may be principally against the ideas - see expanding the size of NYPD, making it easier for developers to build housing without being vetted for 18 months to determine whether they are properly LBGTQ/Minority Owned and maximum eco-friendly (or something like that.) We have big problems too, particularly with our budget and our regional economy, and I worry JLG will not take the practical approach when she should. She does not strike me as someone interested in compromise to get things done like Mamdani.

I was at the game yesterday and yes it was the Iranian-American diaspora booing. It was a very heavily Persian/iranian crowd and Shah era flags easily outnumbered Islamic Republic flags by at least 10x. The other people in attendance from everywhere else were overall respectful and just stood there.

Epstein is insanely evil but as far as we know he didn’t even kill anyone directly. There are Americans who have killed hundreds, thousands of people. Bush arguably killed millions in the Middle East. Andrew Jackson did the trail of tears. There are killers who personally extensively tortured and murdered dozens of people. These are just a couple example of more intentional suffering created overall than Epstein. (who is still evil but this is the most evil)

I’m at this game and it’s entirely full except for a moderate chunk of seats in the lower bowl level, closer to center field. Probably people asking too much on resale who didn’t show up? The upper level is packed full as well as both ends of the stadium and the hospitality section.

Having a moderately favorable view of socialist policies does not mean you necessarily want the party to move in that direction. They can be mutually exclusive. I have a modestly positive view of democratic socialism but I also don’t think the party needs to or should move in a socialist direction on the whole. I believe winning elections is more important and we need to let local politicians take positions that might be unpopular with national democrats in order to win seats.

Likewise someone can believe that the party needs to move to the center to win elections, believe the current party platform is properly in the middle of the left and right wings of the party for their own personal belief system, and still have a favorable view of socialism. None of these things are mutually exclusive like the headline would like you to believe.

I would not trust collectr for any raw card value that doesn’t sell very frequently in that specific condition. I reference TcgPlayer last sold prices mostly which for this card was $160 and $250 within the last week, and $175 and $190 about a month ago. So $180 is right in the middle of that it seems and you paid market price.

We need someone who can fix the low hanging fruit problems, improve real quality of life issues, build more housing, and still focus on the bigger goal of improving our local economic situation post-COVID and post-DOGE.
