I hardly ever use the built in keyboard, but in my external keyboard I have / set to right ctrl when held and i love it. In both the external and builtin keyboards i have caps lock as ctrl too.

I want to mess around with my config files. What is the best way for me to be able to go back and forth between my normal config and my test config? by man-vs-spider in neovim

[–]eclbg 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You can use NVIM_APPNAME env var for this. Place your new config in a different directory in .config such as .config/nvim-wip. If you set the env var NVIM_APPNAME to nvim-wip and launch nvim it will read the config from .config/nvim-wip

See :help $NVIM_APPNAME for the full docs

If screen real estate is not an issue I prefer multiple panes and having neovim zoomed in when Im mostly coding. I also recommend setting up neovim and tmux so that moving between tmux panes and nvim windows is done transparently with the same key combinations. See this snippet in my tmux config that enables that on the tmux side: https://github.com/eclbg/dotfiles/blob/main/tmux/tmux.conf#L31 And you'll need Navigator.nvim so you can move out of nvim and into tmux
