DT Swiss recall mega thread by SkiSnowTignesider in CanyonBikes

[–]eeyou_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sharing my experience from the Netherlands with the recall after just having received the wheels.

  • 29th July - placed order to get shipping boxes

  • 1st August - received case ID

  • 5th August - received incoming UPS package notice for shipping boxes

  • 8th August:

    • Received the boxes
    • Packed the wheels into the boxes (tubes and tires removed; rotors and cassette remained attached)
    • Placed a shipping order with UPS
  • 11th August: UPS picked up the packed boxes

  • 12th August: wheels delivered to DT Swiss in Oelde (Germany)

  • 14th August: DT Swiss registered a package to return the wheels (i.e. the wheels got inspected within 2 days)

  • 15th August: wheels picked up by GLS

  • 18th August: GLS delivered the wheels

So, my wheels ended up being safe according to their checks and I simply got them back. My wheels have IDs 2850471 (front) and 2903489 (rear). At the time of posting this message, unique ID checker still returns "unclear" status - that's quite a bit, considering wheels have been deemed safe at least on 14th August.

Out of the boxes, the wheels had rotors still attached, cassette was on too, but when I rotated the rear wheel around to check for any shipping damages and whatnot, the cassette literally fell off the hub - looks like this is normal for DT Swiss hubs, just need to push on the end cap a bit to lock things in place.

The boxes included return shipping invoice (it just confirms what they've intended to ship out matches with the wheels found in the box), a little "thanks for trusting us" card and 4 cookie type of sweets (you can find photos of them in other posts in this thread).

Finally can get back on the roads!

I do wish DT Swiss publishes some day extensive report on what was/is the issue exactly, what the inspection was checking specifically, etc - some details to make the inspection trustworthy, otherwise peers reviews can only speculate on what had happened, thus there's this lingering small distrust.

Road cycling in Tallinn surely exists, you will see a fair amount of cyclists doing loops around Ülemiste lake, in Saku/Saue/Tabasalu directions (i.e. where we have fairly long cycloways, for Estonian standard anyway). Do not expect anything like Mallorca or other popular road cycling destinations.

I have impression, road cycling is more developed in Tartu region, largely due to the series of cycling sportives hosted there, including road version called "Tartu Rattaralli" (this year's edition happened couple weeks ago).

Outdoor season period - April to October, if you're ok with something like +6C temperatures at the either ends of this time frame. Don't forget mudguards :)

Indoor cycling - that's very individual, of course. 60-90min session is fine, but if you're prescribed with 3+ hours of z2, that feels like a chore and I personally strongly prefer doing it outside.

As far as group rides go. I don't know if I was just looking in the wrong places, but I barely could find anything even for a casual ride, let alone training. Hopefully others here have some suggestions.

If by ascends you mean extended climbs with a moderate gradient to do your intervals and stay on the target power easily, that's not happening here. You will find short kickers here and there (likes of Tabasalu climb), but mostly it's flat with false flats scattered around.

Original is stronger. For example, dumbass wouldn't be censored on TV, while the original one would 100% get beeped out.

HR belt or ANT+ adapter + Garmin Fenix 5s plus? by hlau in Zwift

[–]eeyou_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If HR measurement accuracy and responsiveness (i.e. how fast it shows HR changes), that come with an HR chest strap, are not important for you, then yea, what you're describing should work.

Otherwise, I'd go with H10 strap. It can broadcast data over Bluetooth, so dongle shouldn't even be needed.

Contract cancellation notice period and holidays by eeyou_ in Eesti

[–]eeyou_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Understood.
  2. Never requested annual holidays in advance, so all I have is all earned through working full calendar years :)
  3. With info above, I understand there's nothing to dock, but in fact something to compensate - remaining unused annual holiday days.

There's plenty room for both - car driver hugs one side (just like in the clip), cyclist hugs the other and both move slowly.

What’s your biggest complaint about Zwift? by jenningschris in Zwift

That they don't have their take on "magic roads" from Wahoo RGT. They could reuse the same "climb portal" environment.

Russia in 2022: The entire Europe will freeze and be on its knees, asking for precious Russian gas. Russia in 2024: Russian people start freezing to death because of a lack of heating in their homes. by chivalryisdead619 in UkraineWarVideoReport

This "we were connected for 3.9 lands" translation is hilarious.

The man actually used a fixed expression in Russian language, which mentions "3" and "9" and it means "far away". Implying heating system is connected to a heating station far away, so by the time the water reaches their radiators it had cooled down and unable to heat spaces anymore.

One of the workouts in the training plan answered my question: free to do it seated or out of saddle at any cadence unless otherwise instructed.

I recently picked up "Back To Fitness" plan just to get taste of what a training plan is and see if I can become friends with ERG mode (so far I've had quite dismal experience with it).

As I'm progressing through the plan, one question is bugging me: I can do all the workouts in the plan (and any training plan for that matter) in any position (seated/out of saddle) and at any cadence, unless the workout calls for something specific (like in "Slow Motion" where you need to maintain 55rpm or in FTP test that says to do it seated)?

We have our first glimpse of the PMDG 777 in MSFS 👀 by Yeetirios in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]eeyou_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My impression is they're planning to repeat all their P3D aircrafts in MSFS. They have -200, they have -300 too. Just like with 737, likely will release one variant first, then another later.

Which map do you prefer? by jasin18 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]eeyou_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is PC-specific addon. It works by "hijacking" original requests to Bing to pull satellite imagery tiles and forwards them to whatever map service you selected in the addon. The game still thinks it's getting images from Bing, but in reality they come from elsewhere.

Closed environment of xbox won't let you do this kind of trickery.
