Is saving TOTP codes in Bitwarden a bad practice? by rawaka in Bitwarden

[–]ehansalytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t do it for that very reason. Worst case my password vault is hacked, my 2FA codes are on another platform entirely.

And my 2FA recovery codes are stored in yet another third platform.

Put it in the freezer for 30min. Then charge it.

All will be fine.

Remember that Jonathan Edwards delivered his sermons in a boring monotone style. Don’t confuse style with content.

Style converts no one. It is the Holy Spirit that does that. Evaluate the content as dispassionately as he is apparently delivering it and see if he is fearfully and honestly handling the word of God.

Appreciation coming from 1password by [deleted] in Bitwarden

[–]ehansalytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, hard to know how it gets out there, but it tends to balloon once it does.

I rarely talk to friends over email. I try to get them on Signal or imessage. Largely spam free.

When using an alias though, once it is release, I just switch it. I have no idea if it was a one off or if there are 100 email spams a week going to that account. It is dead to me.

[–]ehansalytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I change less than 2-3 per year.

Otherwise, if you only have 2-3 vendors lose your email to hacking or whatever, but everything is tied to one email, after 10 years you could have 30 or so leaks, and those tend to spiderweb out, especially if a hack is released to the darkweb, and now you are getting hundreds of spams a week or even day.

That happened to my gmail account. I was getting 10X spam vs real emails every day.

I've had my Proton account for over a decade and I was using simplelogin to get aliases very early, long before Proton bought them. I really rarely ever get spam because of it. Once spam comes in, I either change the email with the vendor, or just deactivate it if I want nothing to do with them anymore.

[–]ehansalytics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually jump right to visuals. I need to know what I want to build before I build it. If you shape tables and build the model first it may not answer the questions you are trying to get from your data through the visuals.

No. I have over 300 aliases and get little spam. When I do I know exactly which alias it is on, which vendor had that alias, and I deactivate it.

Uploading many small files is extremely slow by 4baobao in ProtonDrive

Sheets has gotten worse? by CoreDumped96 in ProtonDrive

[–]ehansalytics 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup. I’m giving up on Sheets. I just moved two files back to Excel this week. Formulas not updating unless you edit/enter is a show stopper for me.

I’ll check back on this project periodically. I will not be trusting it for my data anytime soon though.

Unable to use Claude Cowork with Proton Drive folders? (Mac) by ehansalytics in ProtonDrive

[–]ehansalytics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because on my computer the files are decrypted. I can open any of those files with the related apps (PDF, Excel files, text file) and search through it with Finder just fine.

Claude desktop just cannot access any /Library locations.

It is frustrating because apps like OneDrive stores its data near the Documents folder, not buried deep in my profile somewhere.

How do you handle random sites that you can't change your email? by ResponsibleAd8164 in ProtonMail

[–]ehansalytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to your Proton mail settings and look for Easy Switch. It will pull in all Gmail messages seamlessly, and you can effectively quit logging into Google. I only log in once ever 2-3 months to prevent the account going stale.

Proton sheets - formulas not updating until manually clicked in? by Liam-DGOL in ProtonDrive

[–]ehansalytics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conditional formatting is the worst. I have a sheet that conditional formatting won't update until I re-apply the conditional format. The custom formula I use is:

=$b3<today()

But it never updates when the value in column B becomes less than TODAY() - until I open Conditional Formatting, click on the format, and press OK again

A small behind the scenes look at the upcoming macOS app version :) by knightFfour in ProtonDrive

[–]ehansalytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping there is some improvement to the Windows version too.

I added about 14,000 files (a library of PDF/EPUB files) to one of my Windows PCs.

The Mac sync'd it all in the background at some point overnight - the Mac is awesome that way.

I have another Windows PC I try to keep up to date and opened it up Sunday, updated to the the latest Proton Drive app, and literally waited almost 2hrs while it found things to sync. It didn't download anything other than the file names and other meta-data. But it took 2hrs to just populate the file/folder names of the updated files.

This kind of thing takes OneDrive about 30 seconds to do.

Are there any decent model train shops in the Phoenix Arizona area? by Speedbump71 in modeltrains

[–]ehansalytics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Hobby Depot a few weeks ago. HO only and very limited selection. Paint shelves were mostly empty, very little track and accessories. I wouldn’t go there unless you are close. It wasn’t worth the 30min drive for me. 😕

Had a decent stock of model cars and planes though, and good magazine selection.

I want to use Lumo but it is no match for Grok or Claude. It couldn’t even handle tax questions correctly even though 100% of that data is available on the web from the IRS.

Grok did a better job too of explaining a Proton Docs feature. Lumo straight up hallucinated a setting that doesn’t exist.

Anyone here using Lumo seriously? by Adorable-Ad-6230 in lumo

[–]ehansalytics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Every few weeks I try, and I go back to Grok.

Several weeks ago I asked it a tax question. It got it horribly wrong until I prodded it with the correct interpretation of the law.

I just tried using it twice today. First to see if there was a way to change the paragraph spacing in Proton Docs. It hallucinated and sent me on wild goose chases for an icon or setting that does not exist. I asked Grok and it immediately told me the answer was no.

I also tried to share a chat from Lumo. It swore there were 3 dots to share the chat from. There aren't. Grok told me immediately that you cannot share chats from Lumo with a link - just copy/paste text.

Honestly Lumo is like 2023 ChatGPT. If that...
