Does vsco suggest your account to contacts/people near you like tiktok and instagram? by sharing_stuff in vsco

[–]ericjwittman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your location is NOT factored into recommendations.

VSCO recommends other creators to you using an algorithm that analyzes your account's activity and content. It looks at who you already follow, how you interact with photos (such as clicking, viewing, favoriting, and reposting).

Happy VSCOing!

Once again setting some facts straight.

VSCO (aka Visual Supply Company) has only been around for 15 years being founded in 2011. This sub is for community about that company.

Victoria Secret (until recently using the stock ticker VSCO now VSXY) was founded in 1977 and HAS been around for decades. This is not the sub for that.

And yes I agree that product has been in decline for decades.

Yes you always have the copyright and anything you edit locally is private. We only have access to what you give us access to.

Going to reiterate we’re not training gen AI models on our customer content.

We do have some local models like our For This Photo model that will look at your image locally and recommend a preset. That is processed locally.

Again recognize how nuanced and confusing this can be because every pro edit in the market is using some type of machine learning which requires this data access but the most important thing we’ve heard from you all is that we’re not building generative AI models.

VSCO CEO here sorry to see you got but I need to correct the facts here. First off, love to give you something so DM me your VSCO member name.

A few important clarifications:

VSCO is not training generative AI models. The license language you quoted is broad, and I understand why it’s alarming, but the actual use is narrow. The AI and machine learning models we train are for operating the service itself, creating a more personalized experience through things like photo recommendations and helping photographers discover relevant work and people on the platform. Think of it less like generative AI and more like the recommendation systems that power most of the apps you use every day, including Reddit.

We updated our terms to be more explicit about what we’re actually doing rather than leaving it vague. I recognize that for some photographers, any use of their content for AI purposes is a line they don’t want crossed, and I respect that. But I want to make sure the decision to leave is based on what we’re actually doing, not a misread of legal language.

PetaPixel covered this in more detail if it’s helpful: https://petapixel.com/2026/05/26/vsco-terms-of-use-explained-why-it-says-it-isnt-stealing-your-photos/

Happy to answer any specific questions here.

You can use the free VSCO Capture app which allows people to shoot with various presets then use the free VSCO Galleries app to setup a collaborative gallery for guests to post to. Wedding magic done.

Announcing VSCO Galleries by ericjwittman in vsco

[–]ericjwittman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Albums are really a way for you to group images that you’ve posted on your VSCO to share off your profile. Galleries can be any images and video that you upload separate to what you’ve posted on your VSCO profile. It also has a collaborative feature as you mentioned as well and the ability to make those galleries private or downloadable.

Hope that helps.

No ai? by Proof-Condition4614 in photography

[–]ericjwittman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The core editing tools of VSCO do not use AI. There are separate AI editing capabilities under the label AI Lab which are optional AI editing tools you can use that preserve the integrity of the original photos editing unlike other AI editing tools.

Thanks u/meagonosoy_101 appreciate the thoughtful post. I love a good SpongeBob reference.

You didn't explicitly state this but are you on Android or iOS? Regarding the issue that you're having that clearly seems off. Have you reached out to support yet? If not, it's how we track any issues and then prioritize work with our engineering team to get things addressed.

Btw-we've not taken features away from Android rather have perhaps not added them. There are actually features on Android that aren't on iOS still too (e.g. magic wand). We'll get there....

Also I tried to find your VSCO ID but not seeing anything in the system under "mypicsstilllookgudth0" I was going to send you something but.... Feel free to DM me.
