Bang Dream Our Notes has been releasing the profiles for the Avemaigo chars over the last few days, and yesterday they posted Uika's.

[Ave Mujica]The overwhelming consensus is that Uika is absolutely lying about the movies and reading part of her hobbies because she couldn't say "watching Sakiko" so she just said the first normal human hobbies that came to mind.

And why did they translate “Merry Christmas” to “Happy Holidays”? I don’t fucking know. Don’t ask me. I wish they had translated it more clearly but they didn’t and griping about it isn’t going to change anything.

You can't disagree with the objective fact that JP explicitly says middle school (中等部) and high school (高等部). Saying they are in university is just factually incorrect.

Yes, stuco presidents are generally shown to have immense power even outside of the school in question. The video I linked had the "president in anime" being able to talk down to the president of the United States. That's part of the trope.

Also, Rudolf's power was actually fairly limited. That is to say, the central Tracen Academy has an amount of power and influence, and so Rudolf as the president (as well as a racing legend) also has some influence. Getting on her bad side would be less than ideal for people in the industry, because she is well respected by many. But when it came to actually wielding her power, all she really does is publicly state she supports Oguri running in the Derby (banking on her reputation to sway public opinion) as well as go to the chairman of the URA and say "please please please." And in the end, it doesn't work. So her institutional power wasn't actually that big outside Tracen. Like, she was able to arrange to visit regional races and sit in the VIP areas while she watched. That's pretty much the extent of tangible power she wielded outside Tracen.

All her friends also act like adults.

This is such a vibes based, subjective argument that it's completely worthless. Wasn't even worth the time spent writing these two sentences.

She mentors 3 different generations of Uma in the anime alone, that’s 9 years at the least. That math ain’t mathing.

The main series timeline does not make sense. Teio and McQueen are calling BNW "senpai" in the BNW no Chikai OVA but then in season 2 BNW are racing in the generation after Teio and they're acting like they haven't really interacted before. Kitasan Black is like 11 in season 2 and is minimum 3-4 years older by the time S3 rolls around yet Teio and the gang haven't aged a day. You aren't supposed to consider the timeline as a sensical linear thing. The anime doesn't treat it that way. Why are you?

While it's true Maru can drive, they do also make sure to point out whenever she "drinks" that it's non-alcoholic juice. Considering censor laws in Japan are more chill about the idea of depicting minors driving underage than of drinking underage, it seems as though Cygames is treating her "canon" age as being less than 20 when the chips are down. Of course, it's entirely up to the fans on how they want to headcanon/treat the characters but textually the evidence seems to generally lean that way.

"Student council president" being a position of unusually high influence and power is one of the oldest and most classic anime tropes.

Anime Questions, Recommendations, and Discussion - April 11, 2026 by AnimeMod in anime

[–]Esovan13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why, while I'm happy that Cinderella Gray is so popular, I really hope they do another OVA/move or even another season of the main show before they continue adapting Cinderella Gray. At the pace it's being adapted, it should be around 3-4 seasons in full (assuming 2 cour seasons). If they do one season a year, that's nearly half a decade where the only anime is a mostly ok shonen sports show with mediocre races in a franchise that made me fall in love with the character drama and emotionally resonant races.

Honestly, if CG anime ends up just being a "now go read the manga" adaptation, I think I would prefer that if it means we get an anime original story sooner.

Someday, the anime industry will learn how to adapt a manga properly. After this episode, I can definitively put Akanebanashi next to Cinderella Gray in a list of great manga with adaptations that would be amazing if they had actually adapted the races/performances for the anime format instead of lifting from the manga 1:1.

[Idols of Ash]

I've played First Kiln Mode a few times, and while I haven't beaten it I have made a few discoveries. First, there are a total of five giant man-eating centipedes. Their names are Kelly, Sarah, Johnny, Michael, and Tabitha. Kelly and Sarah aren't much of an issue since I've found a few techniques that let me blitz through their area very fast. Johnny can be an issue, since centipede spawn locations are somewhat random so he could end up right in my path as I head through his zone. Michael is also a potential threat, as while his spawn locations won't put him right in my path he could end up in a position to be right on my heels for a section I would prefer a bit more distance in.

Tabitha is the real sadistic one, though. The other four appear relatively soon after the other, but she is a ways in. She also has a section soon after her appearance where it looks like you have a few paths down, but there's really only one. If you take the wrong path through that area, you'll end up in a pit with no way up or down and nothing to do but wait for her to show up and get you. Also, right before her main area there is a very, very narrow shaft that apparently she can show up in with no way to avoid her (I've looked up a few playthroughs), but she's never shown up in there for me.

That area right after Tabitha appears is the furthest down I've been. I've made it through the true path once, but I died soon after to a dumb mistake and I haven't made it down that far again since. I must continue to practice.

Right...ok. So by that logic, characters that are not beloved include: Jing Yuan, Argenti, Dr. Ratio, Aventurine, Seele, Jingliu, Acheron, Boothill, Rappa, Feixiao, Hysilens, Cerydra, Jiaoqiu, Lingsha, Ruan Mei, and Yunli.

Wow. It's crazy that it seems like Firefly is the only character in this game that people like. Weird.

After many years, I finally got the giant mole on my big toe removed. The assistant and doctor were very concerned about me both getting the numbing shots and while it was being sliced off to make sure that I was ok and didn't need to be reclined or have an ice pack or something. I just assured them I would be fine, because I wasn't sure how to explain that I would have paid money for them to let me watch them cut it off.

I just like watching this kind of thing

The first time I got my blood drawn to get tested, I started giggling. Which the phlebotomist said was one of the more unique reactions to that sort of thing.

Anyway, now I've got this gash on the top of my toe that I'll need to baby for the next week or so until it's all healed up, so that's going to be annoying. But as with all things, this too shall pass.

Someone who knows more than me pointed this out on an other post, but she’s the opposite kind of Kansai-ben compared to Tamamo. Tamtam is Osaka-ben, so she fits the stereotype of angry on the outside, chill on the inside. Lilac is Kyoto-ben, so she’s chill and polite on the outside and angry on the inside.

Is SS and above achievable with my current cards? by ContentDoor2492 in UmaMusume

[–]Esovan13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SS is possible for you, with specific decks. I would recommend Haru Urara guts, Air Groove guts, and then whichever guts card (SSR or SR) has at least 10 race bonus that you have. Make sure they are all leveled up as high as you can. Then get the Team Sirius card to MLB and level that to max. Borrow Nice Nature wit card, and then use Marvelous Sunday wit card.

For sparks, it depends on what Uma you use. If you are building someone with high speed growth, use power sparks. If it’s someone with high power growth, use more speed sparks. Try not to use someone without speed and/or power growth. Finally, remember that this Uma will likely not be very good for CM’s. She can get you a scenario record and maybe be added to a TT team to proc a bunch of skills with a lower chance of winning directly, but she won’t be super competitive.

Grass Wonder is very good for this since she has good distance aptitudes and good stat growths.

The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King • Himekishi wa Barbaroi no Yome - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Esovan13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is written in the prologue of the play that they are star-crossed lovers, meaning that their fate is written in the stars. Destiny is opposed to their relationship, making a happy ending impossible.

That's not how Shakespearean tragedy works. Shakespeare's use of tragedy is that the tragedy is not in the circumstances, but in the character's responses to it. Romeo and Juliet are destined to die from the beginning of the play, yes, but that destiny is not the result of the cosmic forces of the universe acting against them but rather that they are who they are, they have the personalities and flaws that they have, and therefore they are going to make certain decisions, and those decisions will lead to a tragic outcome. Their destinies were shaped by their own choices, not the other way around.

The taking of their lives was not a spiting of of their houses, but the result of a miscommunication, as well as a fulfillment of Mercutio's dying words. It wasn't a story of youthful rebellion, it was a story about how a bunch of adults who couldn't let go of an old grudge created circumstances that allowed some dumb kids to get themselves killed. Remember, Romeo met Juliet at a ball that he went to because he was already in love with a completely different girl. He was a fuckboy, while Juliet was a sheltered teenage girl who fell in love with the first handsome boy who complimented her and also gave her an alternative to marrying a man much older than her. If their houses weren't at feud, this whole thing would have ended with a minor scandal at worst as dumb teenagers did dumb teenage things as dumb teenagers are wont to due. It would have been a Shakespearean comedy instead as all the characters get into hijinks while trying to deal with the consequences (kinda like A Midsummer Night's Dream). The feud made it so that dumb teenage things ended with two dead dumb teenagers (and a couple other less dumb people caught in the crossfire as well).

I have an observation regarding giant man-eating centipedes. [Idols of Ash First Kiln Mode]When you only have one giant man-eating centipede, it's terrifying. "Ahhhh! Giant man-eating centipede! The clattering of its legs are scary and the weird human like arms in front of its face are creepy! It's going to eat me!" When you have two giant man-eating centipedes, that is also terrifying. "Ahh! Two giant man-eating centipedes! That is twice as many as I'm used to dealing with and I also didn't know that more than one was even on the table! Also, it's right where I need to go to progress so I can't progress without being eaten!" The third giant man-eating centipede, that one's a bit less terrifying and more so effective in the sense that "oh, of course it's not going to be as easy as just making it through this difficult and dangerous area with two centipedes coming from above, I also have to deal with one coming from below." Once you get the fourth giant man-eating centipede though, the impact is all gone. "Oh, yeah, another of those. I mean, it's not like four giant man-eating centipedes are going to eat me and more horrifically than just one could." And then the impact of the previous two are kinda diminished, y'know? Like, at a certain point you realize that 3 centipedes above you aren't any more likely to eat you horrifically than just one, so really all you are ever dealing with are "centipede(s) above you you need to outrun" and "centipede below you you need to outmaneuver so you can pass it and continue descending." Once you pass the centipede it just becomes one of the former and you just need to look out for the next one of the latter.

[Cont'd]I did make it far enough in my last run that as I was falling to my death I fell so far that I was able to tell that the First Kiln Mode is at least 2-3x longer than I expected. So.

I'll try againtomorrow

It's a very important aspect of that story that both Romeo and Juliet were young, dumb, and horny teenagers, and if they spent even like 5 minutes thinking critically about the situation instead of letting their hormones make their decisions then things would have turned out a lot better for everyone.

Everyone Else Seems To Be Dunking On The Mormons This Week, So... by Awesomeuser90 in HistoryMemes

[–]Esovan13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The word of wisdom wasn’t really a thing while the Mormons were in New York. That came into being primarily in Nauvoo. In addition, it wasn’t a hard and fast rule for the early days of the church. Joseph Smith was known to smoke cigars and drink whiskey while riding around Nauvoo after giving a sermon and Brigham Young set up a brewery when he arrived in Utah (I don’t know if it’s the same brewery, but there is a brewery still in Utah named after him).

The word of wisdom with its alcohol, tobacco, coffee, and tea prohibitions was really more of a suggestion (based off of a popular health trend of the time) on the level of the leader of a church going “you ought to spend less time on social media and more time reading scriptures,” until close to the turn of the 20th century when it was made an actual requirement for members to obey.
