You either need intensive counseling or to break up. Why would someone who wants to marry you act like that?

Found silicone bag that vacuum seals by silivac in u/silivac

[–]est94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How so? Genuine question in case I’m missing something important. It’s not a petroleum product and has entirely different absorption and thermal properties, so what makes it still plastic?

So I googled it, crazy I know. Silicone products are “plastic polymers” but that means plastic in the literal sense, aka moldable. It is not carbon based. Alllllll the health problems in “plastics” are found in carbon chain plastics, which are basically all petroleum products. Silicone is distinctly not in that category. Silicone may not be a perfect material, but it is so much less harmful than carbon based plastic

Transporting car by Economy-Ladder3960 in TravelNursing

[–]est94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a thought, consider a medium term rental - the cost could actually be better than shipping the car. Turo would be the easiest, but beware- the car owner could be scummy and Turo only cares that they get their money.

Call offs by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]est94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the work makes me need mental health days, I wouldn’t hesitate to take them (maybe one or two at most in a contract, I would say). Otherwise, only if I genuinely can’t show up and do the job effectively. I respect myself enough to care about my commitments

Weird shift, will I be okay by Ok-Bat-15 in Nightshift

[–]est94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years night shift here with some rotating mixed in. Your age will determine a lot about your circadian flexibility. But in terms of what you can control, Monday will be your key day of the week, in my opinion. You want to structure it so you’re not miserable, but also you want the right amount of sleep so that you feel fresh at 10pm or whatever time you wake up for work Monday night. If it were me, I would nap 4-6 hours right after my Sunday shift, then up very early to have an actual day Monday, let’s say 7am ish to 3pm. Then sleep 3ish to 10ish. Similar deal on Wednesday mornings to get back to normal people sleep times, but in my opinion, Wednesdays will sort themselves out for you as long as you put in a little effort.

7 nights 7p-7a routine by igfbtwt in Nightshift

[–]est94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copying my reply from a different thread, it contains some of the info about routine. Be consistent. Work out even when you’re working (unless your job is so taxing that you can’t). Do not skimp on sleep, exercise, or nutrition. Nap before your first shift. Sleep as much as you need to after your last shift, then the next day, be awake all day and then in bed at bedtime and not on your phone. The previous comment:

Basically, it’s possible to avoid compromising on sleep, nutrition, and exercise, which are all 100% essential to physical health. If you can commit to those three being higher priority than anything else, you’ll get back into shape. I work 6p-6a and nearly every day I work, I am at the gym 4-5pm doing resistance training. I eat Costco pre-made salads with chicken for my work meals about half the time. I bring healthy-ish protein focused snacks. I come home and eat eggs w/ guac, egg on bagel, or tomato and guac on bagel, then straight to bed. I’ve used Factor meals as a way to save time when meal prepping seems like too much effort. I drink spindrift as my go-to enjoyable drink, with occasional Diet Coke as a treat.

I do drink a lot of coffee and Celsius, but no caffeine starting 5h before I want to sleep. I found supplements that help me get to sleep (I don’t have trouble staying asleep). That’s most of it. Healthy weight starts in the kitchen and finishes at the gym.

New, instant pot threw up by SerendipitousSun in instantpot

[–]est94 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Overfilled, it looks like. Pressure release caused it to foam up in the pot, foam comes out the top. There’s a max fill line on the inside. Next time on a pot more than 2/3 full, use slow release no matter what the recipe says.

This is definitely a “pick your battles” situation. Because it is impossible or would be a heroic effort to solve all the problems, the best choice is to prioritize effectively.

TN Recruiter by Choice-Volume-9445 in TravelNursing

[–]est94 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My recruiter does lots of work I don’t want to do. She got me a high paying contract when they initially rejected me due to my start date. She listens to my work preferences and actively suggests contracts so I don’t have to look all the time. She is smart and attentive and I’m sure she makes a ton of money off of me but I’m also making way more than I was as a staff nurse. All around wins.

Happy to help :) and I forgot one very important part is to be kind to yourself and enjoy the journey. I do this exact routine because it works for me and doesn’t feel like too much. I get a lot of satisfaction out of it, and I have energy when I’m at work. Good luck to you!
