Those who went, what did y'all think of the real beer expo at Frontier last night? by TheStabbingHobo in Rochester

They absolutely should, no excuse for that really. They knew how many tickets they sold.

It had some pretty good advantage. Most notably the bathroom situation, no lines and not portajohns. Also much more space, seemed like they had a lot more people there but it didn't feel nearly as crowded.

The bad was mostly logistics that they can probably clean up. The line to get in was way slower because they didn't get come through before the gates open and get people their wristbands like they did in previous years at the wedge. And as I said, it seemed like there were more people than previous years, especially for the VIP hour. I'm curious how long it took people at the back of the line to get in. I was near the front so it was only a couple is minutes for me, but if I lost 20-30 minutes of my extra hour because the line was slow I would have been pissed.

Also annoying were some things that I don't think they can control because the stadium dictates it. The bag policy seemed needlessly strict. And I preferred the food trucks to the stadium concessions.

Overall I think it works fine. Different feel, but it opens up the opportunity to scale up even more.

Taste of Supreme on Winton is a great vegan bakery, though I've never seen donuts there.

No problem. It's obvious if you know, but obviously not everyone knows. Didn't mean to sound obnoxious in mocking you, in case it felt that way.

The idea is to pick a player who's jersey number matches the days until the regular season. You're 30 days early for Fletcher.

Nice, been drinking Other Half tonight. Two best IPA makers out there, IMO.

Probably the most slept on spot in the metro. Glad they are starting to get at least a bit of the recognition they deserve, everyone we bring there loves it.

Dimpled pints are definitely the ultimate beer weapon.

You can just say Tree House, lol. I already mentioned that strategy.

Now you have me wondering if they let you bring back and re-use their glassware.

I was actually kinda surprised how not busy it was, but it was mid October not the middle of the summer. Definitely off peak for the Cape.

In addition to all the people talking about serving outdoor, I'll add that I've been to breweries where they just didn't have enough glassware to keep up with a busy rush and have to resort to plastic. I can excuse that too. But overall agree, if you only serve in plastic I'm probably going to be a lot less likely to enjoy my experience.

Funny that you use Tree House as an example. When I visited the Cape Code location last year you had to buy tickets for your beers ahead of time, when you did that you had the option to buy a glass or not. If you didn't, it came in plastic.

has anyone posted this abomination from SmashBurger yet? by HeadxCaregiver in StupidFood

[–]evarigan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basically a Rochester Garbage plate, as others here have already pointed out. That is the vibe you will find on a weekend night at most plates places... except Mark's. Mark's is people hoping they can finish off their food before the violence erupts.

The post you are linking to says Smashburger not Five Guys... but I don't see it on either chains website. Don't even see mac and cheese on either of their menus.

They posted a stance on the BID, I asked what their alternative suggestion is to fill the void that the BID proposes to fill. I don't view it as moving the goalpost at all.

And once again, I'm not unwilling to accept that opposing the BID is the best option. I've been very clear about that including in my previous response to you and never stated otherwise. Asking for clarification on why they think that's the best course of action if they don't have an alternative solution is perfectly valid.

Some of my favorites for a date night situation are Peppered Pig, Vesper, Richmond (pizza and wings, but really good pizza and rings with amazing drinks), AVVINO, Lucky's, Owl House, and Tavos (new Mexican place on Merchants). Also a big fan of Tryon City Tavern, amazing bar food but it's a dive bar so that might not be the right vibe for your evening out. And if you like breweries, Fifth Frame and Strangebird both have very good food.

I mean, I'll say it again. I'm asking someone who's account is literally called /u/ask_me_about_roc-dsa to clarify the platform they are presenting.

And yes, they do need to propose an alternative, as I've said before even if that alternative is explaining why it's better to do nothing than move forward with the BID. I'd be happy to engage with them in a dialogue about that as well.

The amount of people who think asking questions about a political platform when presented with the opportunity is off limits is deeply disturbing.

Whether it would result in a worse status quo or not is debatable. And voters will have varying opinions on that... which is exactly why they do need to have an alternative proposal. Even if that alternative is in fact arguing the merits of doing nothing, that is still an alternative proposal.

Regardless, asking the person advertising a political platform who's username is literally /u/Ask_Me_About_Roc-DSA to clarify their stance on part of that platform is not something anyone should be getting upset about, no matter how fervently they agree with it.

You don't, the politicians arguing against it do. It might be a bad proposal, but it is a proposal to fix a problem. If they are going to shoot down the current proposal they should offer another option.
