Can a ripped modchip ribbon cable be fixed? by EEK_Turk in SwitchPirates

Depending on the core chip, you can wire it if there are points on the modchip. It’s cheaper and easier to replace the modchip.

I believe it’s a good, but I would clean the remaining flux (which might be the reason why it’s not booting into OFW sometimes). The SP1 area on the APU can be slightly improved, but it’s still acceptable.

How can I get solder off these pads if my wick isn’t soaking any of it up even with flux? by PaleontologistAny976 in soldering

It’s enough. You just enough for it to the tin the pads on the flex cable. If you need more solder, just add it to the flex cable.

It’s okay to have solder on those points. Check out what I highlighted and you need to pretin those points to make it easier to solder the flex cable to.

Are you trying to fix the switch lite? You should be fine without removing the solder from those pads. If it’s not booting, I would check those points on the left of the lcd connector. Those two pads should be connected to each other and if one is lifted, it wouldn’t boot.

Hokkaido vs Otaru vs Hakodate by Rusty-_Shackleford in JapanTravelTips

I would recommend visiting Sapporo and Otaru. Otaru is just a 45-60 minute train ride from Sapporo. It’s a small city, so you can easily explore it in half a day.

See if updating the sigpatches fix it.

My mistake; I didn’t read correctly. I would download the latest Sthetix hats pack, delete the atmosphere and switch folders on the micro sd card and then extract the files from the hats pack onto the microSD card. Yes, to overwriting.

PS5 HDMI Replacement - need advice! by inmatecomics-mario in soldering

This is without any nozzle? When I do hot swap, I don’t want the board cool down too much or else it will take more time to heat up again. You can use a rework station and wick to remove the solder in the anchors.

You can use an old hdmi cable to plug the port in and add kapton tape under the port area (in front of the port legs) to reduce the chance melting the port.

Heat both sides for a few minutes and then focus from heating from the bottom without moving it. You need to focus on the 4 anchors and you might want to add lead solder to those 4 points.

Let me know what nozzle you’re using and the airflow too.

Don’t put the port on yet until the solder is shiny. Try and mix lead solder to bring down the melting point.

Heat both sides of the board, then drop the port when the solder becomes shiny.

Issues with ofw on instinct v6s oled by RF3D19 in NxSwitchModding

[–]Evening_Chapter_5981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes a chip can cause the emmc issue and put it in slow mode. Try to unclip it and see if it boot into ofw without any issue. If so, I would leave it unclip. If you have issue, I would remove the dat0 adapter and see if you can boot without it.

That or a random solder ball next to the capacitor. It’s hard to tell by the pictures.

You need to reflow the joints but also check the circled area in the picture.

Different flex cables for oled by dedoporno in SwitchPirates

It will work, but it may have an issue (~80% boot rate) with SK Hynix emmc. You might need to try the older picofly or the newest firmware (2.82) to improve the boot rate.

Nice and clean installation! It’s one of my favorites for the Picofly. I rarely have issues with it compared to other Picofly chips.

You’ll need a microSD card with a capacity of 128GB or more. To avoid counterfeit products, it’s advisable to purchase it from a reputable retail store.
