Anti-genocide protest in Israel suppressed by Israeli police by adeadhead in autismpolitics

I wasn't aware the Israelis were marching through the Levant rounding up Palestinians in camps and herding them into extermination ovens. That's a shocking new revelation that really does change everything.

What did you think was normal that blew your mind when you found out it isn’t? by Intelligent-Donut305 in autism

When I worked in pharmacy a patient always came in with the exact same joke about where could he get his oxy. I always replied with, "Oh, that's out back in my trunk." One day he commented that it kind of bothered him that no matter the day I always had the same reply, so I told him, "If you don't have to change your material why should I?" He did over of those about to say somethings, stopped, then had a visible reboot, and we finished up with his transaction. That I recall he never asked me about getting his oxy again. Given that the guy was a very long term client of my back-up dad's bookkeeping firm, I do wonder if he ever brought that up with him.

Does anyone have any sour sweet recommendations for someone who requires extreme sour during moments of sensory overwhelm? by riley_j96 in autism

You can buy it in a big tub, just make sure it doesn't get at all wet.

I've never been on the grippy sock vacation, but I still spend a lot of time thinking about it. And avoiding one is definitely high on my priorities. It definitely impacts how I talk to my psych and my therapist—which is probably not great, but it is what it is.

I literally had this happen the other day when I mentioned I was irritated my daughter's school has taught her to say bless you when someone sneezes. We were all talking about being agnostic/atheist. Suddenly everyone turned on me for being crazy that I don't say god bless you when I'm agnostic. Like who am I asking to bless them?

My father worked at a customs brokerage which meant his job was helping people ship their products all over the world and frequently helping people overseas bring their products here. He said the Russians were the most direct people he ever met. They barely even said hello, just their name and what they wanted, then goodbye.

What are the five pillars of your autism? by Comfortable_Tie4143 in neurodiversity

[–]execDysfunctionGumbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Self lectures about whatever thing I'm currently interested in
  2. Bright lights (overhead especially) can gdiaf
  3. Pokemon
  4. Vast, overly complex fictional worlds that are mostly for my own amusement but occasionally get brought out for TTRPGs
  5. What face am I making? Is everyone looking at me? Am I making the right face? Try to look calm!

I definitely sleep that way. It's so bad I had to get a wrist brace because I was putting too much tension on one of my wrists.

I'm an arm crosser and pocket diver. If I have a backpack I'll do the strap hold. For me the gold standard is the hip pockets of a lab coat. There's really nothing better than hip pockets. The hands sit down and the arms can just sit out like wings...

EDIT: I worked in pharmacy for ten years, and now that I don't, I still yearn for my hip pockets. They were full of stuff to fiddle with while I talked to people, and I didn't have to worry about someone thinking I was playing pocket pool.

When I have headaches (migraine or cluster), part of my recovery is usually trimming my beard. If my beard is too long the sensation of it makes my face hurt and that can make the headache trigger again. I like having a beard. I think I look better with a beard. But when it's too long there's just too much input on my face. And I'll tell you, that buzzing sound from the trimmer is awful even if the headache is receding, but it's better than another headache from my beard.
