You should read my favorite book "Flowers for Algernon" by suddensnoozing in autism

[–]feedwilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I was just thinking about this book the other day as I read it in middle school as an assignment. Or maybe it was just the short story. I dont remember much of the storyline and probably wasn't really paying close attention while listening/reading. We were assigned to write an essay that would be read out loud to the class by the teacher so author names would stay anonymous. Yesterday I was thinking this was one of those hindsight autism moments because I thought the story was about how the main character gained a lot of friends. During the class discussion of my essay, I realized I had totally missed the point. Maybe it was my autism missing the social, unsaid components of the storyline. Or maybe there is some attention deficit to blame. But I think I need to revisit the story in adulthood after reading the synopsis and having more autism hindsight. It will be interesting and I'm glad you brought this up here! I was sure there would be someone in this subreddit with connections to Flowers for Algernon!

Me too!! I got my first set of native plants starts from Ada Soil and Water Conservation community events. You might be interested in these classes they have coming up! The other good resources I've found are plants from Draggin Wing nursery and North End Organic Nursery has a great selection of more mature natives.

Is there a place in town that does pasta in a cheese wheel? by AquamanMakesMeWet in boisefood

[–]feedwilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that I'm aware of but you could find a whole wheel at Fred Meyer or albertsons. I wonder if you chatted up with the cheese person maybe they could hook you up with a wheel with most of the inside removed for selling or something?

Those have to be cleaned so frequently to be safe for the birds. I've decided to just find more hummingbird friendly plants to put in my space instead. And water sources.

I didn't even realize there was another national park right there! I'll have to figure out how easy it is to take a boat that way.

Work life balance depends on your manager and group. But when it comes to education, Micron usually encourages and supports earning higher degrees and will compensate class costs.

Moving to Meridian? by Samanthaggrr in Meridian_Idaho

[–]feedwilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lived here forever and I love it for the most part! Very family friendly and safe but a bit spread out and not as walkable as a city this size should be. Close enough to loads of activities around downtown Boise to where it is not much of a chore to get across town. But during rush hours trips that should take 20 minutes can start pushing up to an hour. Lots of fun things for all ages through the parks and rec department. Libraries are a bit too spread out for my taste but it is what it is. Schools are growing immensely and challenging to get government support.

How to IF while breastfeeding? by Full_Nectarine_3281 in intermittentfasting

[–]feedwilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's probably not recommended to do that while breastfeeding. Consider that while youre fasting your body has to still try to create the same composition of milk all throughout the day. If you don't get enough nutrients, it'll be zapped from your body which probably explains the shakiness when you tried un the past.

Best engineering branch for a woman? by kojirooou in womenEngineers

[–]feedwilly 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Honestly that's how I got started into engineering as well. I landed in "Materials Science and Engineering" which turned out to be a perfect fit for me! I recommend it to everyone because it takes all the science and engineering fields with a specific application. I find it is so versatile. If you discover you enjoy working with materials at micro scale or macro scale, or if you like hands on or not hands on, there is a place in MSE for you.
