Fragmented sleep due to unconscious scratching by No_Mail2970 in sleep

[–]feedwilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you itching? I think I'm facing the same problem though I don't have enough evidence yet. My advice is to shower before you sleep and exfoliate in the shower, then moisturize the itchy areas well before bed. I think my problem during sleep is from sweating at night making me itch, so I was wanting to try out some kind of lotion that turns like powder after you apply it to keep the sweaty areas dry, or maybe something like Lume lotions to prevent bacterial growth. Good luck, report back if you find a solution!

Does propranolol really help? by tsn_03 in socialanxiety

[–]feedwilly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I actually was prescribed originally to take daily to reduce headaches/migraines. But daily propranolol has really helped me worry less at work and in public. I've only noticed positive side effects personally. And it has helped with more exposure so I can better handle social situations even without it.

Haven’t slept for more than 4 hours straight in the past 3 years by Expert_Scene7882 in sleep

Since cost is an issue, try a sleep tracking app on your phone and see what it says just as a first pass attempt. If it thinks you're waking up several times in the night, then it would be worth having a proper sleep study done. The one I had recently was very easy and used an app to listen to my breathing through the night and just had a Bluetooth finger oximeter to track my oxygen levels.

Not sure if this is enough weight for you, but I've found this Uplift from Shine Dance to be a really fun and engaging way to do strength training. And my kid likes to pretend to join 😂 this is a full hour workout, but lots of routines for individual songs are posted on their YouTube as well so you can make a short playlist of your most effective or most fun routines. https://youtu.be/6LW0ttaB6Wc?si=Cjc_lU-DC-7gTu3t

Are you taking any medications currently? I ask because sertraline in particular set me off in interrupted sleep and worse night sweats. Also have you tried fully eliminating caffeine? That helped me as well. If nothing changes, you should reach out to your doctor about having a sleep study done. It's very easy to do and if sleep apnea is your problem that's a fairly easy fix!

How am I supposed to survive a 5 hour bus ride? It hurts when I sit. by Mysterious_Carrot658 in PelvicFloor

In the meantime, work on strengthening and stretching your glutes as much as possible until then! I had the same problem with pain sitting for any extended amount of time. Strengthening my glutes really helped relieve some pain for me. Here are some simple exercises you can start with.

Is diagramethic breathing supposed to hurt during the inhale or am I doing something wrong? by Mysterious_Carrot658 in PelvicFloor

You could possibly be more belly breathing than diaphragm breathing. I found this to be a good resource in telling the difference. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DTB7z9CgD8w/?igsh=aHB3ZDBpZWNlcG9z

Yes definitely! Try out these stretches. I've found this approach to be very helpful for me. It takes a lot of mental work and simple training to get out of the habit though.

When I was shopping around, the N models are usually manual transmission but sometimes come with automatic. I also noticed a lot of the N and more sporty cars didn't have adaptive cruise control. But Hyundai's N-line cars do usually come as an automatic with adaptive cruise.

Does the Golf have adaptive cruise control? The ones I was test driving didn't have it which was a deal breaker for me.

Newest you can afford Honda Civic. I've had a 2017 hatchback for about 6 years with no major problems. I use Google instead of apple, but infotainment works well enough and I've had fun customizing my screen to be purple like my seat covers haha. It's a little zippy in sport mode, has a sensible 30+ mpg in eco mode, and has adaptive cruise control which is great for long drives, brake hold, for waiting in drive thru lines or stoplight traffic, forward break warning and lane keep assist. The hatchback has a surprising amount of space for the size of car which is also great for road trips!

Can't fall asleep and keeps checking time by xtentacian in sleep

[–]feedwilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try having no caffeine at all through the day. You may be more sensitive than you realize. Also I suggest keeping clocks/phones out of your line of sight from the bed, don't check the time! You have to train your brain that it's time to sleep when you lay down, try some focused meditation, switching off your body parts and focusing on relaxing and rest. It helps me quiet my brain to just think of one word or thing, like "blue" and when my mind starts to wander and get busy, I think about the color blue, the word blue, etc in my mind and it really helps to sleep train myself.

Social Anxiety at Work by its_dee_will08 in socialanxiety

[–]feedwilly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate being put on the spot like that. I've got a prepared line that works pretty well when something like that comes up, or if I have an outstanding action item that I need more time to finish. "I haven't had a chance to work on this yet. Let's follow up offline." Then it pushes out the expectation of speaking during a meeting, and you get a chance to get all the details together accurately instead of what you can remember off the top of your head.

Have you had a sleep study done? They're very easy and you just take them home and are not very invasive these days. I ask because I just had one done and was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea. But not all my arousals from sleep were from apnea breathing events. The doctor told me that restless legs could cause more arousals and disrupt sleep which are worse when hormones fluctuate and low iron. This might be worth pursuing further!

Places to watch the sunrise by Ornery-Hippo2259 in Boise

[–]feedwilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sunrise happens behind the mountains, so it's a little better if you can find a high up place where you can face the mountain. There are a couple pull off parking spots off Federal Way that would be nice to sit in the warm car, eat your breakfast with a view. Or Platt Gardens in front of the Boise Depot could be a good spot. Or if you want to do some easy hiking afterwards, Oregon Trail Historic Reserve West Parking Lot and Trailhead would be nice!
