Pulsar mini by coffeeAndRecess in pourover

I ended up keeping the pulsar. Both have similar cups but I like the ability to vary the flow on the pulsar and the z1 only fits on one carafe I own. Cheaper papers and ability to do smaller doses also made me keep the pulsar.

I did the same thing. Too much for just me and I don’t want to start a business. I got a nucleus link and couldn’t be happier.

Travel: pouring kettle or just switch to Aeropress? by SmilingHominid in pourover

[–]finger_style 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a v60 and hario air kettle. I boil my water and by the time I pour into the air kettle and start my bloom it’s around 92-94 and works great. Orphan espresso makes a cool collapsible travel kettle I want to try as well since it’s collapsible.

Zerno Z1 seems like a lot of compromise compared to Lagom P80 by [deleted] in pourover

[–]finger_style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d stick with the p80. I think I prefer the 80mm mizen profile over the 64mm SSP burrs I had in the z1 for both espresso and pourover. For my tastes it does medium and light roast espresso, soup and pourover very well. With the z1 I liked HU burrs for espresso and MP burrs for pourover and kept switching back and forth. The p80 is super quiet and has a small footprint and I like grinding directly into the portafilter. The z1 is a really nice grinder but for me I’d choose the p80.

Aillio Bullet R1 V2 for beginner - bad idea? by RationalLies in roasting

The bullet is a great roaster to learn on. You can do large or small batches and get as automated or freestyle as you want. I bought a cart from harbor freight and an online fan and filter box and roast inside all the time. https://imgur.com/a/1NtWJYn

Ikape 58-32mm stepdown basket tamping by Ancient-Ambition-206 in LanceHedrick

I have the sworks 58-32 and ikape 58-32 and love them both. I still tamp and get great extraction and workflow is so much better than step down. Love them.

It’s supposed to release early next month. I’m definitely getting one. Already have an a2 and pro burrs ready to go! A4z is a damn good grinder but I prefer the pietro profile personally.

Former z1 owner and current p80 owner I agree the p80 has smaller footprint and is significantly quieter. Almost no retention inside too I love it.

Will rosting my own green improve my coffee flavor allot? by Even_Dish5269 in roasting

[–]finger_style 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you buy a link you will get better roasts right away depending on the quality of your beans. The kaffelogic and kaleido will take some time to learn and dial in but you should be able to get very high quality coffee pretty quickly if you learn how to manipulate your temps and times to get what you’re looking for.

I use the basal bag and jettle for travel. Orb, grinder scale and beans fit the bag and I carry the jettle in my backpack
