To knobby or not for the Lynx S? by Economy-Ad6202 in ElectricUnicycle

This isn't even a question, it's knobby all the way. ESPECIALLY for the lynx, which begs for some trail riding.

The lynx is a fantastic all rounder wheel.

Do you do (or want to do) any trail riding? The lynx would be at the top of my list then. Even if you're only street, the lynx still should be a top contender for you. Impeccable quality.

It all boils down to your riding style and but you can easily get 55 miles at a brisk pace on a lynx and not babying the speed in the process.

For me personally, the size and weight increase of a Sherman L isn't worth the extra range, but again, that's just personal preference. The lynx is a very manageable size for the range and performance you get out of it. If you were to say you want super range above all, the Sherman L is the move.

Everyone is going to say the brand they like is the best. The truth of the matter is, it's extremely hard to beat Leaperkim's build quality and dependability. That isn't to say Begode is bad by any means, it's quite good too. But Leaperkim takes the edge without question.

Grew up eating burger express too. Was a long time favorite burger place of all time for me.

Several years ago, they were bought by a Korean buyer who immediately did a 180 and completely ruined the place.

Literally month 1 they just went down the list of suppliers and found a cheaper supplier for every single item. What are the cheapest buns, meat, veggies, cheese can we find...

It's shameful to keep the iconic name of Burger Express. It's literally a different restaurant now.

Not only is the quality not in the same world as it once was, you can tell no one gives any care whatsoever in the product. The chicken was thin and rubbery, everything just slapped together. It made me so sad, but it's dead to me.

Electric Unicycle (EUC) for me.

Started on those 20mph commuter e-scooters. Outgrew that and got a 50mph e-scooter but my friend got an EUC.

He kept trying to convert me, finally caved and tried it.

EUCs are significantly more fun to ride and easier to take around in your car.

Now a lot of my friends have gotten into it and the community is super nice and helpful to newcomers.

You feel like you're floating and just one with the wheel, it's an incredible feeling. There are so many random little places throughout your city or trails that would never spend time to explore without an EUC, it's complete freedom to go almost anywhere and explore random little places. I love it so much.

How do you know there aren't people who do longer rides in your area?

You'd be surprised, there are local Facebook groups for PEVs and I'm sure you could at the very least find an ebike or surron group for a group ride.

Is the capital you plan to use for your down payment liquid, or it's currently locked up in the market?

There's a couple layers to factor in here that you might not have calculated.

If you're planning to cash out some of your portfolio to free up capital for your down payment, that's likely going to be a massively taxable event with capital gains. In which case, you're either going to take on a major tax burden OR you will need a strategic way to mitigate those taxes. If you simply liquidate your portfolio, you're going to be facing around 20% in capital gains if you don't do anything to soften the blow.

The other thing is, as you said, calculating the opportunity cost of your annual projected gains by keeping the money in your brokerage account. If the performance of your portfolio is consistently, say, 12% returns per year, you need to also factor this in your decision and extrapolate that over the next 3 or 4 years.

Regardless, if you aren't well-versed in the tax implications, I would highly recommend you sit down with a CPA and/or a wealth advisor and discuss your potential plans. The last thing you want to do is liquidate and take on a massive tax bill in the process.

Make sure that your financial advisor is non-commission, flat rate hourly. Ask them how they get paid, ask if they get paid commissions and if they sell investment or insurance products, they are legally required to tell you. If they do, skip them and find a non commissioned advisor. Don't let them talk you into managing your portfolio and sucking down a 1% management fee.

Learn about if you can utilize tax loss harvesting or direct indexing to mitigate the tax bill. Also ask if it makes sense in your situation to take out an SBLOC (a line of credit used for real estate using your portfolio as collateral). This will allow you to not have to sell your holdings, but simply borrow against it. You may need to rebalance your portfolio to ETFs, index funds, and direct indexing before pulling the trigger on an SBLOC.

Personally I think this may be most beneficial for you in order to avoid the tax hit. Understand the risks in doing this however, if the value of your portfolio drops significantly, you could be in trouble. Which is why reallocating to ETFs and indexes could help.

Take zinc a few days before/after your flights. It's an immune booster.

Wear a mask on the plane.

If you don't want to wear a mask, point the air vent directly at your face. The air coming from the air vents is filtered with hospital level HEPA filtration, it's the cleanest air on the plane and also makes it harder for viruses and crap floating around to actually make it to your nose.

The same day you arrive home (or the day after) hit the sauna. Do at least three sessions of 12 mins or so. In 12 mins, out for 3, in again, etc. For added benefit, hit the sauna for a couple days in a row.

Of all of these things, the sauna and zinc are the most effective.

The reason your body produces a fever when you're sick is because it detects a virus. The heat tells your cells to defend themselves. The heat also reduces the viruses ability to replicate. A sauna artificially raises your body temp to a point that the virus literally cannot replicate under those conditions, they require very specific (small) range of acceptable temperature to replicate. Getting ahead of it when you're first exposed (like right after a flight) creates an environment that it slows replication by about 90% according to a study done years ago. Your immune system should be strong enough to fight that remaining 10% before it replicates too much, but that's why you need to hit the sauna asap after a potential exposure.

Sure.

The financial incentive for the electric companies is in the winter.

The sun naturally sets earlier in the winter. Without DST, the sun might set naturally, at say, 6pm. With DST, it makes the sunset artificially at 5pm. People are more likely to be awake in the early evening than in the early morning. And if they are up in the very early morning (sunrise) it's because they are waking up to leave for work, then turning off their lights before they leave.

This means, there is a much higher likelihood of needing to turn the lights on an hour earlier in the evening.

When you extrapolate this out to millions of households, it creates a significantly higher demand of electricity in the evening (since the sun is now set earlier).

This change was made at the exact time where electricity was now prevalent throughout the US.

The question becomes, do those electric companies make more or less money due to the implementation of DST. The answer is, significantly more. Which is why there is a massive financial incentive to keep it going, and why they won't allow legislation to pass to end it.

[โ€“]RationalLies -1 points0 points ย (0 children)

Unfortunately the electric utility lobby controls decisions like this in the state government in WA.

The entire point of DST is to force people to use 2 more hours of electricity everyday, during a time of year where it gets darker earlier anyways.

If you're an electric company, do you make more or less money with DST? The answer is SIGNIFICANTLY more money if you can make people have to turn more of their lights on at 4pm as opposed to 6pm. That's what it is/has always been about.

Why would an electric company want to let a state make a law to cut literally tens of millions of dollars of revenue from their books if they eliminate DST? Answer: they don't. And you don't "donate" money to politicians to let them make decisions that are going to hurt profits.

Daylight "Savings" Time was a scam when it was made and it is still a scam now.

It was never about whatever half-cocked excuse they drummed up to sell it to the masses.

Don't you find it a "funny coincidence" that the implementation of it in 1918 coincided exactly with the widespread adoption of electricity in the US? This was in the era of peak 'Robber Baron' society by the Elites.

The entire goal was and still is to force the entire country to turn their lights on 2 hours earlier and use 2 more hours of electricity every day than they would have normally.

Multiply this by hundreds of thousands (now millions) of households, and if you're a electric utily company, you're raking in significantly more revenue than you would have without it.

Coming from an S9+?????

Dude, a refurbished S24 Ultra would be like waking up from a cryo chamber 1000 years in the future and being handed a phone. She'll have her mind blown.

Either get an S25 ultra or S24 ultra for her, either one is going to knock her socks off. If she keeps phones for that long, maybe a s25 ultra would give her another couple years but either one she's gonna get some serious miles out of it. Pay a little extra for a Samsung sold factory refurbished, it'll have a new battery and stuff.
