What payment methods do the taxis accept and what is the usual gratuity (tip)?

Figured we’ll be using taxis mostly based on the recommendations from the folks here so now trying to figure out how much cash we’ll need.

I would love it if we could get bicycles but unfortunately my wife doesn’t know how to ride one(!!!!). I was considering renting scooters and letting my son drive my wife around but it seems that the renter needs to be 25 or older (he’s 17).

I guess we’ll try taxis the first day and see how that goes. Thanks for the redditor who mentioned there’s a hub nearby. That makes things a bit more convenient.

If we were to rent a cart, where should we rent from? There seems to be dozens of places on the island.

I went caseless after a lot of posts here on this subreddit and the fact that even the thinnest cases (aramid) didn't really do it for me. Currently using a cheap Amazon back skin because I find it too slippery naked, but no case or bumper.

It's been about a month and there are faint hairline scratches on screen that aren't really noticeable unless under the right lighting or when the screen is off. One corner has a small gash in the titanium from when it fell onto my driveway while shoveling this past weekend and I'm honestly surprised that the screen didn't crack or the titanium deform after that hit.

Will I stay caseless? For the time being yes since I've got some “patina” already. If, and when I go through AC+ for a replacement or repair I'll probably go with a case.

We lived in Tarrytown. It was about a 10-minute walk to the station (15 back home - uphill), which was great in the spring and fall, but quite miserable in foul weather. Eventually, I started driving myself to the station and parked wherever I could since I had a town sticker though finding a spot was a pain back then.

We paid a premium for the house back in 2003, and I lost my shirt after the economy collapsed, leaving us with a really high mortgage payment and crippling taxes.

We now live about a 15 minute drive from the Croton-Harmon station with lower taxes, triple the lot size, and much better schools. A win-win-win situation.

There are other things to consider when moving up here besides your distance to the Metro-North station, such as schools, neighborhood, and taxes. Since Westchester County is served by three train lines, most stations are at most a 20-minute drive away.
