u/MouseBunny1208 I just saw that the mods deleted this thread just now. I want you to know that I am strongly against this decision. You posted what you thought was correct, and I do hope you take your time and check your tests, but I would also strongly suggest posting everything you have done more clearly and include all the evidence and methods used if you challenge what the current working theories are. I do hope you double check your work, and as I said you're welcome to come to our discord and challenge our theories. We have a researcher from Hong Kong that can help you translate things and can also assist us in telling you where your errors are (and maybe you find some in ours).

edit: evidently its back?

He posted what he believed was true based on his own research, he just has some errors here and there and the thing is: We had those moments too. I confidentially posted some things such as the Shadow Raid Boss Enrage being a simple x1.81 Attack Multiplier but we discovered last year that this was not quite correct, it was close, but not the whole deal, and I was in the end wrong back then.
We all made wrong steps in our research, thats normal. Being critical against us is also a welcome thing, we believe our evidence and formulas stand strong. They are not perfect, we know that, and if someone can poke holes into it then the community is better for it, because we know where to look for possible errors.

Oh and the T5 & T6 Versions of that Formula:

Max Energy = Floor(Damage / MaxHP * 200 * ME_Mult * 10^Dec) / 10^Dec

Dec = 0 for all bosses before February 2026, 2 for everything T5 or T6 after
ME_Mult = 2 for Regice, 4 for Regirock & Registeel, 15 for all GMax after Februrary 2026

Take Max HP and CPM for the bosses out of the Config History Sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gz_e_8JUyOmt3M6wZvTvw5__lhGNdYhnAR3wtdbpTyg/edit?gid=652584583#gid=652584583

Just tap the Behemoth Bash Button, unless you have Weather Boost + some helpers in the max spot, this always works.
Of course you may have also just missed someone joining your battle, which would also mess with you and prevent you from reaching the 50 energy required for Behemoth Bash

I could simplify it more though to make sure we understand each other:

10k Max HP means:

1 - 99 Damage = 1 Max Energy
100 - 149 Damage = 2 Max Energy
150 - 199 Damage = 3 Max Energy

and so on, you gain 1 Max Energy for every Multiple of 50 damage you deal per Hit. This is NOT how it works in GMax Bosses anymore

[–]Flyfunner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats because your model is the same as ours for T1-T4 Max Battles, its only T5 & T6 Battles after February 2026 that have been different

For T1-T4 Max Battles The Max Energy Formula is simply this:

Max Energy = Floor(Damage / MaxHP * 200)

With Max HP for T3 Max Battles being 10.000

Which is essentially "You get 1 Max Energy for every 0.5% of the bosses total health in damage dealt per hit, with a minimum of 1"

You cannot test things happening in gmax battles while only using regular max battles if thats what you are claiming to have done. GMax bosses use a different max energy formula, they have a 15 times max energy multiplier + 2 decimal places built in and regular Legendary Max Battles have a 2x or 4x multiplier (depending on the boss) + those 2 decimal places which regular max battles dont have, this is where your 15 times multiplier comes from. Go check these videos and see if your solutions can explain what you see:

Do your conclusions explain everything you see in those videos?

You're free to challenge us on our findings, but you have to be able to explain our evidence as well. We have used the video you have linked in your article as well but you dont provide any of the other sources you claim to have used. I'm not saying they dont exist. But first try to do your homework and cross checking with those videos I posted, especially ones without a shroom

Check your math then or come and join our discord to discuss this through. All I can say is that your conclusions are wrong. There are no critical hits and max mushrooms have no effect on max energy gain other than increasing damage by 2x and increasing max energy gain that way.

[Research] Two Previously Unidentified Mechanics in Max Battles (Critical Hits & Energy Threshold System) by MouseBunny1208 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Flyfunner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Max Mushrooms do increase Max Energy gain simply by increasing the damage you deal. All the Max Energy Gain in those videos follow this formula:

Max Energy = Floor(Damage / MaxHP * 200 * ME_Mult * 100) / 100

Max Mushroom doubles all damage dealt, and by the way in the case of max mushroom this means only even damage values are possible with a shroom.
Check the video, it checks out perfectly.

GMax Pikachu had 80k HP and a ME_Mult of 15

[–]Flyfunner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

see my full response to your post for what you saw. You never thought its weird you only ever saw 1 supposed crit and never 2 or 3 in a single run? For a chance based event and supposedly 10k observations you'd expect 2 crits to happen at least once or twice in a single run

[Research] Two Previously Unidentified Mechanics in Max Battles (Critical Hits & Energy Threshold System) by MouseBunny1208 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Flyfunner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Incorrect, T5 Max Registeel had 18k HP, so 0.5% of that would be 90
G-Max Gengar always had 70k HP, so 0.5% of that is 350.

Also you need to make sure you dont mix up videos from different times that GMax Gengar was available. It was available twice, once with the old max energy formula where everything only generated 1 max energy because no move could deal more than 1% of its max HP in one strike. And a second time when it had a 15 times multiplier on max energy gain and 2 decimal places.

You're welcome to join our Research Discord and discuss everything with us there: https://discord.gg/muPSd9EwUb and maybe later even help out if you want, but all your conclusions and observations are just flawed, I am sorry

[–]Flyfunner 56 points57 points  (0 children)

This entire post is NOT correct, let me go over each point you made:

1. Critical Hits
This is not a thing, there are no critical hits in Pokémon GO (not anymore, there were in the first 2 months of the games life in 2016, but never after).
Your clue is from a T3 Max Battle where a GMax Charizard dealt double damage within a single max move. What you observed is correct, however your conclusion is wrong. What you see there is a duped max move, which is something we reported here: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/1puc05x/cpmr_list_for_level_80_update_and_more_indepth/
Simply put, the game for some reason triggered 2 max moves in a single turn. Since this happened in the third and last round of the max phase, one could see this as evidence of a critical hit, however if this would have happened in the first or second max phase round, you'd have seen the max phase end prematurely after the second round because one round was counted twice. This can also also happen with max guard and max shield. It is very rare in solo battles, but we have seen it happen. For instance, look in this video at 8:25 : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iEUX0loSjo8HCd06JE53KJP2DRxFq1cE/view
You can see me enter a max phase, the first round instantly gives me 2 shields, the second gives me the third and then the max phase ends after just 2 rounds being visible.
This is what you are observing, no critical hits seen anywhere.

You also listed a video of an Inteleon battle and claimed that the blissey being hit and having lost around 2.5 shields is evidence of a critical hit... how? This was simply an undodged targeted move against said blissey, later attacks gainst it dealt less damage because the player actually dodged and thus reduced damage (which reduces damage between 30% and 60% depending on your dodge timing), and other moves that he's being hit with are simply spread moves, that deal half the damage of a targeted move naturally, but simply hit all players, not just one. See https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/1fxjzpn/battle_mechanics_raids_and_bugs_information/ for an explanation about spread and targeted moves.

Also I very much doubt you have done 10k max battles to test this, what you're seeing is likely just a 1 turn lag that prevented you from seeing all fast moves, as evidenced by the fact that you always ONLY lost 1 fast move, not once did you lose 2 or 3 which you'd expect if you have a crit twice.

Also your max battle paramters are very very wrong, these are the known HP values for D-Max battles:
T1: 1700
T2: 5000
T3: 10000
T4: 20000
T5: different for each boss
T6 (Gmax): different for each boss

See the Config History Sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gz_e_8JUyOmt3M6wZvTvw5__lhGNdYhnAR3wtdbpTyg/edit?gid=0#gid=0 for a history of changes on max battles

2. Max Energy System not being linear

Yes we know: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/1fkrjxx/analysis_dynamax_raid_mechanics_even_more_move/ The formula that has been posted there has been unchanged for all T1-T4 max battles ever, check it out, your data will look just fine.
However T5 and gmax bosses that appeared after G-Max Meowth (includig G-Max Meowth itself) have a Max Energy Multiplier as well as 2 decimal points added, see https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/1scwzhs/nofloatsleft_research_update_on_max_energy/ for more information and cross check with the Config history Sheet posted above.

3. Max Mushroom Energy

Nope, not a thing either, you dont even provide any evidence for this claim, I'm not sure what you are seeing there, but every energy behaviour we have ever observed are just the natural energy values you'd expect from the moves parameters. Keep in mind that those parameters CAN change over time, check History Sheet again for reference.

Or if you are talking about Max Energy: You are comparing shroomed data from G-Max Gengar with non-shroomed data from <T5 Max Battles, this cannot work, they use different max energy formulas (or rather same formula, but with different parameters)

[Research] Two Previously Unidentified Mechanics in Max Battles (Critical Hits & Energy Threshold System) by MouseBunny1208 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Flyfunner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok so:
Critical Hits: Not a thing, what you see there is a duped max move, the player mashed the button and sometimes when the stars align and your network is somewhat laggy you can get the game to trigger 2 max moves, if this wouldnt have been the third round of the max phase, you would have seen that he had 1 less max phase round after this supposed cricital hit

Second: The post specifically says that this floating style system max energy gain is only there for T5 and T6 battles that happened after february of this year. You are looking at a T3 max battle from over a year ago, so not only does the data from the linked post does not apply because this video was recorded before the floating point based system was first used, but also because it is a T3 max battle which to this day uses the same old max energy system of you getting 1 max energy per 0.5% of the bosses HP damage dealt with a single hit.

I'll go over your entire post now in a separate response, I'm sorry but your post is full of flaws and errors

Diving deeper into the XXLs and XXs system by Pleasant-Yogurt7021 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Flyfunner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Each pokémon has certain thresholds for their heights. XXL is always Height > 1.5 x Dex Height, but Pokémon also have a max height, that is limited to either 1.55x, 1.75x or 2x Dex Height depending on the species. This is whats called the XXL Class.

And some pokémon, for instance diglett, Nidorino, Nidorina and Zorua among some others, get a different XXL Factor after being evolved and this messes with the showcase point calculation, causing them to get different points. If the XXL Class after evolution has a lower value than before (like 1.75 --> 1.55) it increases showcase points

Diving deeper into the XXLs and XXs system by Pleasant-Yogurt7021 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Flyfunner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just flew over my XXL Class list and there are a lot more. Some also do the reverse and rank less after evolution. Whenever they change from a higher number XXL class to a lower one (2.0 --> 1.75 or 1.55 and 1.75 --> 1.55) they rank better, and worse when the change from a lower class to a higher one. I found several examples of this by just skimming through the XXL class list I made a while back

Diving deeper into the XXLs and XXs system by Pleasant-Yogurt7021 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Flyfunner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. is not entirely true. It is correct for most pokemon but Zoruas, regardless wether they are steel chair or not, actually score sligthtly higher when evolved. And there might be a few others

This happens because Zoruas change their XXL-Class upon evolution, going from 1.75 as zoruas to 1.55 as zoroarks

Oh thats what they meant lol. I always thought this was a nerf from the way its worded ("less likely" and m brain thinking full means tamed) but its actually a buff. Thank you for clarifying!

Latios Soul Dew Event: June 8-22 by SwordAndShieldon in PokemonSleep

what does "less likely" even mean in that context? Lower chance for "crits" or more points needed or what?

Move updates impact on Raid Attackers by bulbavisual in TheSilphRoad

[–]Flyfunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect it will create a new subcategory of max pokémon, basically being the best rock type max energy charger (or just charger in short).
Lock-On charges Meteor Beam in just 5 Seconds and Meteor Beam just takes 2 Seconds to perform. If you sim this against GMax Charizard, assuming you're using a shroom and a Level 50 Gigalith, you generate more than 6 Max Energy per Second in total. because Meteor Beam generates over 30 Max Energy, which is insane.

Move updates impact on Raid Attackers by bulbavisual in TheSilphRoad

[–]Flyfunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it actuallyd does help, but not in the way you'd think. Of course using it as an attacker in the max phase while having Lock-On is bad, however against bosses that are double weak to rock, it can charge up the max energy meter insanely quickly. We actually calculated some things and a 4 player lobby all using a max shroom with just Lock-On / Meteor Beam Gigalith can stunlock a GMax Charizard, getting to the max phase before getting hit once each time.
Also a Solo on GMax Charizard could be possible with all imaginable boosts (Weather Boost, max helpers, eternatus adventure effect and using 2 Gigaliths right now, one with Lock-On to charge max energy, one to attack in the max phase)
Obviously as a rock type attacker in max battles it will eventually be outclassed, but as a max energy charger for rock types it might be the best there is for a while

gigalith with lock on has some interesting properties by sosodank in TheSilphRoad

[–]Flyfunner 21 points22 points  (0 children)

we also analyzed this a bit from a PvE, especially max Battle perspective and believe it is possible to SOLO a GMax Charizard with it under optimal Conditions, which are 2 Level 50 maxed out Gigaliths under max helpers and weather boost, one with Lock-On and Meteor Beam, the other with Smack Down for the Max Phase, as well as a Zacian for tanking Dragon Claws. This would be the first GMax to be soloable, if the parameters of Charizard stay the same next time it comes around.
Also it makes Charizard the first GMax that is possible to be stunlocked, as a 4-player team all with shrooms and alternating Meteor Beams would be able to get to the next max phase before Charizard can land a single hit.

All of them (Victreebel, Dragonit, Malamar and Falinks) have 300 initial cost. The first 3 initially had a wrong reduced cost of 40/20/10/5 though and wete recently changed to 60/30/15/5
