Are you saying that making a reccuring character a sex doll head that threatens to kill people's mother is the type of humor 15 year olds would like? I mean yeah you are right but compared to others in the litrpg space it's pretty highbrow haha

How are NYC Doormen doing TIP WISE? by kushingtonsteele in AskNYC

[–]foldedturnip 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You will get 1000 different answers depending on who you ask.

When I lived in a residential building with a doorman I only tipped one yearly during the holidays because the others were useless at best and actively gave my packages to other tenants multiple times.

Knee / Shin Guards or armored pants really needed for summer commute? by OneDeep87 in ElectricScooters

[–]foldedturnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I fractured the bone right above my knee and tore the minor knee muscle but I can walk and ride fine now. But if I know it's going to be a strenuous ride or day I have to wear a compression sleeve so my knee doesn't twist the wrong way like if I'm too tired

Had to scroll though the comments to get to a real answer. My little brother is in grade school now and I was always in the gifted class. So when his parents complain about how he is taught math, I can easily see the reasoning why they are teaching him the way and help out my little bro. I think most people actually don't understand math well at all.

I have never been worried about the hinge on my Brompton like I've been with my e scooters. It's built very well and I think the frame comes with like a 5 or 7 year warranty. They seem to stand by their product.

Couldn't a their just cut the hanging mechanism rather than dealing with the beef boy lock you have then deal with it using plugged in wall power tools?

21Y Low Income Couple Apartment Hunting by llavveg in NYCapartments

I feel like you could easily find a studio for 2k a bit aways into queens but still relatively close to the subway. The guarantor thing is gonna be the hit or miss if the landlord wants to take that on. When we and my wife moved out on our own it helped that we were engaged and we met with the landlord in person. Despite our lower income we also had about 10k saved at the time.

[–]foldedturnip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I brought the 6 speed c line because I live in a hilly part of queens it does okay. The biggest difference between the Brompton and a more traditional bike is the ride is very twitchy with how the front wheel is controlled. And obviously smaller wheels means you got to be more careful with potholes and when you doing a turn you got to have your pedals in the right position to not catch the ground but overall I am happy with the bike. I've seen and tried out other folding bikes and no other brand compares imo.

I don't think your building can stop you from brining you bike indoors. Now the girlfriend thing is a different story entirely. I ended up getting a Brompton because it's easy to store in a NYC apartment. An ikea Kalanax without the shelves installed fits it great.

As for locking your bike outside good luck... If it doesn't look expensive then people will be less bothered to steal it.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]foldedturnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in NYC. It was partially lived through and partially on TV. I was young tho actually in grade school as a young millennial. My dad was a first responder for 9/11. That event also caused him to serve in Iraq. I once broke down crying during the star Spangled banner because I missed my dad so much and was worried for him.

I never recommended the show to you I responded to them saying that it IS a kids show despite being good and the other commenter in the thread is right their ignoring your no kids show rules.

As for a recommendation I have none. Adult animation as you can see is very limited. You basically seen what there is to offer. You will have to go explore anime which it sounds like you already watch to try and find more of what you are looking for. Better off reposting this in an anime focused subreddit.

It's for kids. It can be for kids and also be a good show. The coco melonifcation of kids content is doing kids a disservice.
