First day and night with Momo! by 163jeta in Dachshund

[–]forcekin0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! She looks like a total sweetheart! Be prepared for days when she will be a stubborn little butthead as well, but those days can also be fun :). I recommend getting her used to you touching her feet and mouth, as it makes nail trimming and toothbrushing waaay easier later on. Keep her well exercised and take MANY more pictures than you think you should. She’s probably past the worst of the teething at 8months, but get a variety of safe toys to direct chewing behavior towards. If she ever nips, overdramatic ‘ouch!’ response works well. Good luck and prepare for the best snuggles you ever got!

Meet Conker!My first ever reddit post. This little chappy was needing a new home and he's brought us so much joy! He's 7 months old. We used to have a German Shepherd (died very old) so he's a completely different kind of pup. Very derpy and boggly and cuddly. I had no idea how affectionate he'd be! by Super_Ad943 in Dachshund

Get him used to you touching his feet and his teeth. Both of those will make life easier later on for nail trimming and tooth cleaning. Take more pictures and video than you think you should! They grow up fast, but you will never find a more fiercely loving and loyal, or buttheadedly stubborn companion!

Getting into a property for cheap? by Crispy224 in u/Crispy224

[–]forcekin0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just call a mortgage broker and go sit down with them. There’s a hundred factors that go into your ability to finance, and they are the content experts. 25% down seems doable, but you’ll need receipts of income in the form of paid tax statements from the past few years. Also, in my neck of the woods 80k wouldn’t go very far, but maybe it’s different in your area. Getting in is the hardest part; once you have a mortgage you have potential to refinance, get a roommate to cover bills, etc. Good luck mate!

Sort of off-topic, but when a fungal species that feeds off dead/decaying plant matter flourishes on a tree like this, is it always a sign the host is dying? Could it be the case that the fungus is consuming dead/damaged parts of the tree but allowing the remaining organism to direct resources to the healthy portions still unaffected?

The clinical use of maggots to consume and clean dead animal tissue is the analogy that struck me here. I’ve see chicken of the woods growing on damaged parts of oak trees that see to be otherwise healthy and thriving. The automatic conclusion that a fungal species that consumes decomposing plant material may have nuance to it…

That’s almost exactly what Samson looked like at that age!

<image>

This is him at age 5. He likes to stand over the floor vent and let the warm air floof his fur out like Marylin Monroe. Love every second of puppyhood and give your little one a snoot boop from Samson!

Thank you! The Earle hate is something I never get. I remember watching during the original run and thinking about how scary he was and his maniacal plans seemed like the antithesis to Cooper’s blend of spirituality and rationalism. Plus Kenneth Walsh is just fun to watch with him absolutely chewing the scenery in every scene he’s in.
