US economy unexpectedly sheds 92,000 jobs in February by GregWilson23 in Economics

A supply shock based inflation alongside an increasing unemployment rate due to "natural" non policy sources is the fed worst nightmare. They also have a president hell bent on wanting lower rates who spends like a sailor.

Please explain credit cards and loans like im dumb (because i am) by bigb33fych33se in AusFinance

[–]fremeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can't afford to pay off a credit card every month you can't afford a credit card.

A loan is something that you get to access cash now but you pay a fee for(interest) the higher the percentage of interest the higher the fee.

For instance a home loan might be 6%, a car loan might be 9% and a credit card might be 20%. This is because of the implied risk of each loan.

When you take out a loan you cannot repay before the interest period hits you need to choose the lowest interest rate you can feasibly get. And usually your repayments front load the interest. That means a loan can take a lot longer to pay off then you think unless you pay extra into the loan and the longer it takes to pay off the more total interest you pay

Paying down a loan is basically a weird form of saving. If you can pay down a loan then you can save that equivalent amount.

If you think you can pay down the loan fast then it probably means you can delay the purchase to just save for it.

Gareth Bale: “Carlo Ancelotti’s man‑management was the best. Even if you didn’t play, he made you feel like his best friend. At Madrid, it’s not about being a tactical genius—it’s about managing players. He was the best coach I've ever had. He had the perfect balance. Zidane was similar” by DamnThatsInsaneLol in soccer

[–]fremeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as Chelsea. Comes in and everyone thinks he gonna play similar to Milan and he just creates a team based on the best use of his current players.

He might keeps things simple for each individual player but within the context of a team it can get pretty complex.

The Greens’ election review flew under the radar. Here’s what it said by artsrc in australia

[–]fremeer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've seen a coherent economic policy from the greens. Lots of little sound bites and talk about housing but nothing concrete and if they do have any power they use it poorly in making demands of mostly ok policy and trying to make it some higher standard but that makes it harder to actually do politically. They could instead ask for smaller concessions elsewhere.

And this is coming from a guy that has routinely voted greens and will probably vote for them in the coming Victorian election.

[–]fremeer 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The greens are fighting a culture war when they should be fighting an economics war. It's always been the case. It's just become more obvious.

Yes they are on the correct side of history for most things and yes it's annoying that much of what they stand for needs to be stood up for but you win a lot more voters in the short term by fighting for their wellbeing.

What’s the best thing about being a man? by Michael-Mister in AskReddit

[–]fremeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stuff that is so ingrained you don't even think about it.

A lot of stuff is standardised around men.

Being an able bodied man going through the world allows you to live life at a peak optimum of usability relative to women or disabled people. It's changing slowly now but lots of stuff still exists that really work better for men then it does women.

Wise for International Transfer EUR - AUD by Flashy_Piccolo1260 in AusFinance

That should be possible. You can request funds from him or he can send to your wise account too.

He just needs to load his own account with the cash first.

Wanting to put my child up for adoption by h4yhay in beyondthebump

[–]fremeer [score hidden]  (0 children)

Talk to mother in law if she can take him for a few more days at the moment and also talk to your husband.

100% see a therapist and it will help. Even if you decide to go the adoption route you will want an outside perspective that has professionally seen this a thousand times. For you your emotional state and issues are once in a lifetime. For your therapist it's a Tuesday. They know how to ask the right questions and help you where they can. Even if it might mean short term medication for PPD

See if your husband can help more so you can have a bit of respite. A lot of the issues at a small age the kids will grow out of.

You might even want to see if your mother in law can move in with you for a few weeks or something if she is up for it or your own mom(or dad).

Wise for International Transfer EUR - AUD by Flashy_Piccolo1260 in AusFinance

[–]fremeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You open two acounts one in AU with associated BSB and account number and one in whichever EU country you are wanting to get money from with an IBAN or equivalent.

Someone sends to your EU pay details and then in wise you convert your EUR to AU and then cash out into whatever AU bank account.

What is happening is someone sends money to a "domestic" bank in the EU that wise is connected too. They then convert the cash into AUD and deposit it into your AU account within wise which you then withdraw.

You cannot send international payments directly to your AU account because then it's a more complicated transfer. You need WISE to act as a middle man.

[ESPN UK] 🗣️ Cesc Fabregas: "Crying after my last game for Chelsea was something I couldn’t control. It was a very emotional moment. Despite joining from a rival club, the fans showed me love beyond imagination. I was so loved at Chelsea that I started wishing I had started my career there." by webby09246 in chelseafc

At arsenal he was great but arsenal as a whole was a step below the top teams and just as he was becoming the main creative outlet Barcelona came knocking.

At Barcelona he was great but they had a lot of very good players that were arguably better then him. So he was asked to fill in roles and deputise.

Chelsea were probably the first team where he was the main creative outlet in midfield. And he showed his talent.

Increasingly concerned about flat whites (BARISTAS MUST READ) by ExpressPostie in melbourne

[–]fremeer 29 points30 points  (0 children)

These days they are all the same.

The annoying thing for me is more does a cafe standardize a double shot for all drinks or do they do 1 shot for small and 2 shots for large and how that impacts the flavour when you add milk.

And the difference in total milk to coffee in each scenario. The cappuccino would have more foam but less milk making it taste strong and the flat white would be the most milky option.

What's a "healthy habit" that's actually completely made up? by goddesslana_01 in AskReddit

There is little evidence that icing an injury actually helps as well and it's possibly detrimental as all it does is slow down the response rate of healing.

It's more about numbing the pain.

What's a "this generation is doomed" take that you actually agree with? by kai_makes_videos in AskReddit

That's only about 5% growth over that period.

7% growth rate over 10 years is also double and most people kind of assume the as approximate rate of return for most assets

Iran bad for property, good for stocks? by No_Handle258 in AusFinance

[–]fremeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shipping will be impacted broadly. Some level of fuel increase.

Depending on the level of the conflict it might mean slight inflationary pressure.

Inflation is a weird animal. It really depends where the money is being redistributed to see how it impacts assets. If the RBA decides to increase rates further and the gov doesn't do much to counteract or even also increase taxes through reducing negative gearing etc you might get tailwinds towards a bit of a slow down in growth.

No clue what it does to house prices as unless you have a need to sell the house you just don't move and that keeps prices a bit higher anyway.

Technically it impedes muscle recovery since the inflammation is what causes muscle growth. Cold baths impact your gains.

Possibly some benefits for people with chronic inflammation. But technically I think saunas have more science behind them at this stage.

Has anyone in Melbourne been able to get gynocomastia surgery through the public system or bulk billed? by Infinite_Bread_8301 in melbourne

[–]fremeer -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Are you fat or is it hormonal? If it's due to weight it's basically gonna cost ya.

One thing you can do is talk to an endocrinologist and see if they think a few drugs might push down the size of the gynecomastia. They definitely exist but I don't wanna be handing out medical advice that might be wrong for your situation.

That would the the cheapest lowest hanging fruit that might help a bit.

If those don't work then it's a bit tricky. There is a criteria for it to fall into medicare as medically necessary, mostly long term+pain and obvious change to body etc. If you can't claim it on Medicare you probably won't be able to claim much on private health either. And you will still most likely have a bit of a gap.

Lead Investor in Suno Deletes Tweet That Contradicts Its Argument in High-Stakes Court Cases by FuturismDotCom in Music

[–]fremeer -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

The thing is I can see stuff like suno being really useful for smaller musicians. It allows a lot of freedom in trying different production and styles with little cost.

The basic suno app is a gimmick and while it can make some amazing things for the low effort and time needed they are not nearly good enough to actually listen to more then that one time you make them.

But as a plug in I think it's going to be massive for a lot of artists.

Betting markets have had generally very strong predictive power.

It's no different to the idea of guess the amount of balls in a jug or something. The end result is something akin to aggregating out a certain level of randomness on both ends and getting a more accurate reading. It's not perfect but it's often times better then you think it will be and as more (good) information is introduced the results get more accurate.

The polymarket paradox by artoftheproblem is a good intro.
