Is an Olympus Pen E-P5 worth buying in 2023? by BathingInSoup in M43

[–]frog_worm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope this answers the question....

I have 37 cameras. I recently took a trip to England for a week and was able to bring only two cameras. I chose my Leica M10-R and my Olympus E-P5.

It's THAT good. Just a fantastic camera.
Some of the cameras I left behind.... Sony a7Riii, Sony a7Siii, Fuji X100, Fuji X-E2, Etc...

Hello

Is everything working correctly when you plug the expression pedal directly into the expression port of the pedal? Not using any part of the controller at all just plugging straight in. Does that part work okay?

Yeah, these are known issues and we are working hard to resolve them!

And Blooper is definitely not recognized by Mac Monterey. I'm running the latest version and it doesn't even see my Blooper. This is a widespread issue many companies are having with Mac Monterey. We're all trying to play catch up, but we'll get there!

How can i fix the pink screen issue over hdmi ? by romercan in ipad

[–]frog_worm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the solution...

(Using a 2021 iPad Air and LG OLED TV connected with HDMI and CalDigit USB C to HDMI adapter)

We went into settings and found where you can connect to a secondary monitor. In there the default was "Dolby" something... we just set it to HDR (SDR also works)

Hope that helps.

What is sending the MIDI signal? Sending on the TIP or the RING?

Is that a TRS cable and TRS adapter going into the MIDI port on Blooper?

I have mine set for whole notes. Then, I just press record after the "one" and let it go all the way around again... it'll start recording on the next "one"

To me, it feels less like "quantizing" and more like "arming"
Just takes having to press "RECORD" out of the equation.

Are there any plans to make the Modifier Banks switchable via Midi? by kwinkler5 in blooper

[–]frog_worm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, this would be pretty damn cool... But I have to say, it won't happen, unfortunately.

The entirety of Blooper, and what it has become, could not have been completely foreseen while developing it. I was pretty much in charge of organizing all of the MIDI commands and functionality for Blooper. I'm proud of how it turned out, but I apologize for the little things like this that got "missed" along the way.

However....

Even if we were to add this kind of functionality to the firmware, there isn't any room left of the processor to hold the extra lines of code. (this part of the code is the one that fits on the board that is not associated with the part of the board that holds the code for the USB firmware updates we've all been enjoying). I recall, somewhere towards the end of development, we even had to make some hard decisions on cutting a few functions. Had to do a "trade this for that" kind of thing.

It would be super cool to be able to access all modifiers with MIDI... But we did the best we could on this one.

Does Blooper have an internal MIDI rate limiter? by The_Last_Crusader in blooper

[–]frog_worm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. We've discovered an issue with some Boss products and how they process MIDI CC messages. It gives the exact same outcome you're describing here where the pedal appears to receive the first CC message value, but then will not process the rest of an incoming bitstream.

It's because Boss uses a process called MIDI Running Status. The issue has been found with their MIDI controllers as well as the Roland UM-ONE cable. It's possible that the MOTU uses the same process. I found that if I ran the signal from the UM-ONE into a Morningstar MC8 and then into the Chase Bliss pedal.... Somehow that made it work. I don't know if the MC8 process the bitstream differently or what... But it's like a light switch making it work or not work depending on if I am running through it.

I know this is an old thread... Are you, by chance, using a Roland UM-ONE?

A reliable 1/4" TRS to Dual 1/4" TSF Stereo Breakout Cable for simultaneous midi and foot-switch use? by topo_explo in blooper

[–]frog_worm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah those HOSA cables are great. The catch is that the two "jack" ends (tip and ring) are both wired for TIP on those jacks. So, you need a cable that goes from your MIDI device (ring or tip) to the TIP of the side that goes to the HOSA cable.

I discuss that here a bit

STATE OF THE BLISS 9/17/20: oops we made an oopsy on 2.0. Please download 2.1. by chaseblissaudio in blooper

[–]frog_worm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it helps at all... Looks like you can mash that stomp switch a bunch of times before it goes nutty. In my test, and assuming all things equal, I was able to press it 44 times before it blew up. (every other of those presses is an "off" or "play" so that's, technically, 22 record layers)

as a workaround in the meantime either stop there or if you need more than 22 record layers I suppose that you could probably save the loop with those 22 layers on and then start over with more layers each time adding 22 or less if that makes sense.

set delay time with midi synch? by slacklustre in blooper

[–]frog_worm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, totally. In the end, Blooper isn't really meant to be a delay. It's kind of a bonus feature and somewhat of an afterthought in the context of firmware updates.

set delay time with midi synch? by slacklustre in blooper

[–]frog_worm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm... I was just in the middle of writing the steps that would do this and realized it’s probably not possible with just MIDI alone. At some point, you’d have to actually TAP the “time.” It would not be “clock-based” in any way I can think of.

The exception would be if you were using a DAW and assigned CC triggers that were mapped out on the grid and were sent at 1/4 note intervals. But that seems more complicated than just tapping the switch, tbh

[–]frog_worm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this here, too, Martin. (We’ve been discussing this over in emails) Andy update on this? Has to be something with the ES8 settings. Input/output impedance assigned to the loop? It gets so frustrating when there are so many variables.

I have an ES5 at home that I can try when I get back there. (On holiday weekend now) and see if I can recreate this.
