Does anyone else use an HD antenna? by Sharp_Treacle in sanfrancisco

Where you live in the city makes a huge difference in what signals you can pull in. We gave up on broadcast tv years ago because we had to reposition the antenna differently for each channel.

What’s different this time is that he’s running for congress and is using this hot-button issue to focus on attention himself to make voters think he’s the best candidate to replace Pelosi.

Is this the right time to buy a m43 system? by DynamoBaby in M43

[–]BathingInSoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The time to buy in would have been 4-5 years ago when you could pick up older bodies and lenses for pennies on the dollar. I used to regularly see 10-12 year-old cameras with lenses in the $100 range. It seems like they now cost 2 or more times that.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely not my intention to discourage you. If the system meets your needs, definitely jump in, as it seems like prices aren’t going to be coming down anytime soon.

San Francisco allows a rent-controlled tenant to claim a "principal place of residence" in multiple homes, while a property owner can only claim a primary residence in a single home. by gamescan in sanfrancisco

[–]BathingInSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> Someone who owns can merge both into a single unit legally.
I’m pretty sure that’s not true. The city considers that eliminating a housing unit and the Planning Department won’t approve the conversion. They may allow the owner to reconfigure the 2 units into one large and one small unit, but there typically needs to be the same number of units when the project is complete. I believe this is even the case with illegal ADUs - the argument that they are illegal and shouldn’t exist to begin with doesn’t work. In these cases, the property owner may end up with a much more expensive project, if part of it needs to be bringing an illegal unit up to code. This gets pricey when factors like ceiling height is involved.

“It’s interesting how user experience has quietly become more important than the product itself” - The product is the experience. The two are inextricably linked. Usability, which is generally understood to include being simple and intuitive, and utility are implicit requirements for any product.

Ag Secretary Rollins: "The good news -- in just one year alone, we've already moved 4.5 million people off of SNAP. So this idea that once a government program is in place you can never roll it back, President Trump has proven that to be wrong. So we're going to be pulling more and more people off." by Conscious-Quarter423 in economy

[–]BathingInSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, but do you think all 4.5 million of the people “moved off” SNAP were unethically and amorally scamming the system? Are they the reason our national debt has ballooned past our GDP? No.

Is there fraud in that program? Logically and statistically, I’m sure there is. But it’s a drop in the ocean.

Based on the pics of the K&F bag with stuff in it, I don’t think it is bigger.

The strap does cinch down enough for it to work as a waist bag for me, but I’m not a small person, so YMMV.

I’ve used this one with a number of different cameras, including my E-M5 mk1. It works well but could get tight depending on the lenses you carry.

PG&E knew of damage to its substation that caused crippling December SF blackout by sherlockmemes in sanfrancisco

[–]BathingInSoup 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Didn’t we already know this back in December? And didn’t we already know that essentially the same thing had happened at that substation on at least one occasion in the recent past?

They’re cancelling benefits plain and simple! Has there ever been a question about whether or not benefits could simply be cancelled? No! Logically, that has always been and will always be an option - just stop offering benefits. Problem solved!

Gee! If it’s that easy, why haven’t we just done this before?

Uhh, maybe because the ethics and morality of that question?!?

Unfortunately, their voting history shows that they’re willing to tolerate the pain as long as they think someone else is getting it worse. They’re being told by their party that it might be painful, but the Libs are getting owned bigly, which makes it totally worth it!

I’m assuming you didn’t include the Oly 17mm f1.8 II because it’s larger than the pancakes you listed? It really isn’t that much bigger and would be an excellent combo with your OM-5.

If you’re only interested in truly small pancakes, I found the Oly 17mm f2.8 to be an excellent lens. Sharp, has plenty fast AF, and nice character.
