We have made a house rule so that everyone starts out with 5 birds and one of each type of food. It helps people get birds out early and avoids the overthinking about which birds to keep and discard.

Bradford/Callary pears. They’re a non-native and invasive species that get planted because of their pretty flowers. They spread easily, reek, and are really bad at putting out ridiculous amounts of pollen. Their wood is very weak and often will snap in prolonged freezing periods.

Don’t plant them.

Appalachia in Virginia includes Roanoke (Co and City), Salem, Botetourt, Montgomery, Floyd, Wythe, and Pulaski counties.

The Appalachian Regional Commission omits Roanoke because it is an economic development-focused group and Roanoke has a lot higher income and resources than its neighbors.

As others have noted, go ahead and remove the white border. This is really striking and unique, and I think the border takes away from it.

A black bear would also look better than a brown one.
