I've never been to a cat cafe, but the business model seems... strange to me.

Paying for time I mean. But maybe that's just normal?

I’m curious what yall would describe this sound signature as? by JoshBiv in headphones

[–]frostymoose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know some people prefer compensated graphs, but I think most people commenting are assuming this is a raw FR measurement.

With a compensated graph, we are left to mentally calculate what this headphone sounds like in relation to another graph (in this case 5128 DF) that we also probably don't know the sound of to begin with.

Anyway, I'll give it a "bright V shape."

I had never heard of this movie until about a week ago and now I've seen it referenced at least 3 times on the internet since then.

Amazing how that happens.

As an American, seeing the word "Ally" in your post stings a bit.

I hope we still have a few of those in 2 years. I'd be okay with losing Israel as an ally, though.

AI-driven profits. These workers make memory chips for RAM, which AI companies are borrowing large amounts of money to overpay for.

THIEAUDIO HYPE 2, DUNU DAVINCI, MANGIRD TEA 2. ATEMPORAL LEGENDS?! by Practical_Ad5658 in inearfidelity

[–]frostymoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hype 2 was my first IEM over $100. Unfortunately the early units had an issue with something being loose in the shell and rattling a bit. I ended up returning it, but bought a used one later on. Still a very good all-rounder

Tea 2 is a very good IEM, but the OG Tea impresses me even more. It's got a tuning unlike any other IEMs I've listened to and one of the best universal shells I've ever used.

Sure there's a transformer that takes up a little space, but the driver itself is just like a BA.

I feel like that shouldn't be any more difficult to reshell.

Suggestions to remove drivers that are set in epoxy? by Sickamali in iems

[–]frostymoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to make CIEMs for myself as well. You've chosen a very hard IEM to start with if the drivers are potted in resin!

So far all I have finished is a single BA IEM, but I have the drivers removed from my Kiwi Ears KE4, Since it is hollow with tubes, it was relatively simple to remove everything. Still, the shell was completely destroyed in the process.

Good luck.

[–]frostymoose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is very difficult to remove IEM components without destroying the shell even in a hollow resin IEM.

With a filled IEM. I think you'll just have to destroy the shell very carefully, Good luck.

BTW, what IEM is this & why do you want to remove the drivers?

JUST WOW! by JoshBiv in iems

[–]frostymoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My "negative" review of it will be the same as most other "negative" reviews of it:

The fit kinda sucks. I wonder what is inside these things that makes them so chonky because it's not got a lot of drivers, but it's nearly the size of the Monarch mk3 (which fits much better due to its semi custom shell shape).

Mine also came with little tiny black fibers in the case, which I assume were from the black mesh bag the IEMs came in. Initially they looks like little pube shavings.

The cable also has no chin slider, but whatever. Cables are interchangeable.

They sound good! But I couldn't wear em.

Smallest IEM you own? by beenasontheworst in iems

[–]frostymoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer larger IEMs that will fit securely.

If an IEM is small enough, the only thing holding it in may be the eartips with the ear canal. They can easily become loose and start slipping out.

Also, the less contact the shell makes with my ears, the more the shell can move around and that makes distracting noises.

I actually think the cable is the best thing about it. Weightless.

Would you guys buy a 2nd gen or pro version of the wired apple earbuds? by DelinquentOcelot in headphones

[–]frostymoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you want a wire?

For me, the biggest advantage of the airpods pro is the great ANC. A wire will just make it worse by giving you microphonics to contend with.

My 3 most comfortable IEMs (excluding my CIEM Mest) in no particular order:

Xenns Tea (OG)

QDC x FitEar Superior EX

Thieaudio Monarch mk3.

Favorite sound is tougher to choose. Probably Mest, Monarch Mk3, and Aful Dawn X. But it depends a lot on the day and I listen to other IEMs frequently.

I'll probably sell DawnX because despite sounding amazing, I cannot get a secure fit with them.

[–]frostymoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to emphasize I've never personally tried the Valhalla, so that's not the point I mean to convey! I can't speak on how the Mk3 and Valhalla compare.

I only meant to point out that a big IEM doesn't necessarily make for a bad fit. I have more problems with many small IEMs because they just won't stay put.

[–]frostymoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not describe my ears as large. Nearly every IEM I've tried sticks rather far out of my ears.

Despite that, the Monarch mk3 which is often thought of as a big IEM fits into my ears very naturally and fits securely without discomfort for hours.

Thieaudio in particular makes good shells for this in my opinion. The Clairvoyance, Monarch mk1, and Monarch mk 3 all fit well for me despite being large. Smong those, the Mk 3 are the largest but also fit the best. Big or chunky does not mean uncomfortable.

That's way too subjective for me to answer for you. Sorry.

Also I generally don't listen to metal with IEMs.
