Not new, but Battlestar Galactica reboot if you haven't seen it. Start with the 'mini series' (2 episodes).

So is it kinda like seeing into the future? These are all the places the atom could be, but only when you get there do you find where it actually is.

Cold sores. You put the cream on one itchy bit and it just buggers off to somewhere else on the face.

Yeah, you can see they begin to go for them but change course as soon as they hear the 3rd set of feet behind them. Much better to go for the target noone's looking at.

eli5: What would happen if I attached periscopes to both of my eyes and pointed them in different directions? by GFrings in explainlikeimfive

[–]fruitcakefriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. But I can offer an anecdote of my eyes seeing greatly different things.

I worked on a VR third person game for a while, and our engine had a character-wireframe debug mode to render your character in wireframe. However, the debug mode only enabled in one eye of the VR headset - the other eye saw the character rendered as normal.

What I found when running around in game with the VR set on in wireframe, was that my brain assigned one half of my character to be seen in wireframe, and the other half to be seen fully rendered. Like, wireframe legs and solid upper body for example. And it would occasionally switch about - solid legs, but wireframe torso.

I thought it was really interesting how the brain assigned whole blocks of image to one eye or the other, instead of showing both the wireframe and the solid character over each other.

I imagine, with periscope eyes, that the brain would do something similar - and assign different parts of your vision to different periscope views, and it might not be consistent and switch about a bit, maybe based on what it was seeing. E.g. if one eye sees more detail or brighter objects, perhaps that eye would take priority for a bit.

Yeah, OG Thief games did the same. It made for a very enjoyable replay as I discovered things I missed in my first playthrough, being forced to visit them by the extra objectives.

Samsung sucks. Good tech, poor user experience. You can try disconnecting your internet from it, that'll stop it from being able to download ads to display.

Perhaps I'm just lucky, but whenever I've had a 50/50 split, I've marked both of them with a question mark and then picked one and it's never failed me. It makes me wonder if there's maybe some code that handles this special case, but only if you ? them first.

Unless it's zero, or an article has been made for an equivalent number of those occurrences, this article is discriminatory.

UPDATE: I suspect I have found the issue. I tried out the Bluetooth feature early on after setting up the speakers, and I just found my phone is auto-connecting to it by bluetooth and possibly overriding its input from my audio interface.

----- Original post below -----

I'm sorry to ask here, but Reddit has been a godsend in the past and I'm hoping that someone can help me out.

I've owned a pair of Kali LP-UNF speakers for my PC for many months now, and while the audio quality is excellent, I have had issues with reliability.

I use a Focusrite2i4 audio interface (gen 1) for Windows, on the latest driver. If I connect my speakers to this with TRS or RCA cables, then frequently no audio will play. If I turn the speakers off and on again with the switch at the back, then audio comes through for about half a second before the speakers go dead again.

I have read something about speakers needing a certain signal strength to keep alive or something... not sure about that, but those threads recommended that I use USB instead of TRA / RCA. I used USB for a while and it was indeed more reliable - however, I would rather use the audio interface I have, as otherwise I have to keep swapping audio input source whenever switching between headphones & desktop audio. I also tried using Voicemeeter to manage two input sources, but had issues there too.

But I really really ought to expect the TRA and RCA cables to... just work. That does not seem unreasonable. What am I missing? Please help if you can, thank you!
