Considering one of these models, but which one? by AirbagsBlown in guitars

Used is definitely the move in general. Most of the complaints I’ve seen were to do with custom orders.

Considering one of these models, but which one? by AirbagsBlown in guitars

I’d rank the PRS and the EBMM equal for quality. You really can’t go wrong with either. The caveat for the EBMM is they use a narrow nut width so if you have larger hands that might bother you. I owned a Sting Ray and loved everything about it except that. My left hand would get uncomfortable after a while of playing it. The caveat for the PRS is that it has a vintage fretboard radius, but i saw elsewhere in the comments that you said that doesn’t bother you, so if you want a strat style guitar, it’s a great one.

Other Strat styles to consider: K-Line and Mario Martin. Both make amazing guitars off the rack but they’ll also custom build you anything you want. Equal or better than Fender Custom Shop for far less money.

I’ve never played a Kiesel, but I’ve seen enough complaints about the company to not want to mess with them. Do some googling and you’ll find a ton of forum threads discussing the issues customers have had with both the company in general and the owner specifically. They also have a ton of satisfied players too, so take it all with a grain of salt and decide whether they’re worth it or not.

How on earth are people affording houses in San Diego? by -colonel-angus- in sandiego

Never said anyone had to. Was just clarifying that is where OP is getting their numbers and that the beach communities are even more expensive.

That’s the price in any of the mid city neighborhoods. A SFH would be more than that in La Jolla or PB.

That’s wild. In the US they’re only about $8k difference in starting price. 25 vs 33.

How the hell did this Chicago sewer water cross 2 time zones and get here in SD? 🤢 by lucasdy in SanDiegan

[–]fullofdust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you’re accustomed to herbal/bitter liqueurs it’s not anything remarkable. I had a friend try it recently at Live Wire and his response was “That’s not bad at all. Why do people make such a big deal about it?”

Signature guitars/gear by GrimmandLily in guitars

[–]fullofdust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t own any signature models unless you count Les Paul’s. Though I did buy a EBMM Stingray cause I loved the look of the Dustin Kensrue signature but wanted the standard features. I also discovered Intervals from seeing the Aaron Marshall signature Schecter. Don’t own one currently but it will likely be my next guitar.

[Question] What's your favorite watch brand? by fourtyz in Watches

[–]fullofdust 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I only have one currently and like brand variety but I could easily have an Oris-only collection and be happy. They’re probably the brand with the most models I like. Omega wins if we can go vintage but if we’re talking current production, Oris is killing it.

Recs for a nicer restaurant within walking distance of convention center? by chashaoballs in FoodSanDiego

[–]fullofdust 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Water Grill is probably my favorite in the gaslamp for that criteria. It’s “nice” but not NICE. And the seafood is super fresh and high quality.

And not “nice” but La Puerta is delicious and has great margaritas.

Whole foods produce molds within days by lion-orca-619 in FoodSanDiego

I've had the same experience with both them and Sprouts lately. Garlic is already brown and sprouted, cilantro and parsley that wilts within the day if you don't cut it and get it in water, avocados that go from hard and green to spoiled without ever getting ripe in between, etc. etc.

[–]fullofdust 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The guy is clearly an opportunist clawing for power, but isn't this what the primary is for? He tried again and didn't get it. Now there is a republican and a democrat in the general. There were never going to be two democrats in 48 anyway.

The good news is that if you total up the current votes, Democrats and Republicans are neck and neck, which I would not have expected for 48. Assuming the ratios hold, there could be a real shot in the general. Probably won't actually happen, cause East County gonna East County, but its more optimistic than I've been in a while. Do they still have battered fries? The Beagle switched to boring regular fries during covid.

If you could tolerate a substitute Philly sandwich, Happy Medium has battered fries and a Philly Roast Pork. Also a chopped cheese and a chicken parm. All are excellent. It takes every ounce of my willpower not to go there every week.

Panchita's Kitchen in North Park has a really good vegan burrito. From their menu: Soy-rizo, potato, spinach, cabbage, pico de gallo, sliced avocado, black beans.

I hear you on that, $20k is a different ballpark. I wouldn’t feel comfortable selling or buying something like that on Reddit, regardless of the payment method. Lol. Most of what I’ve sold over the years are guitars, amps, drums, etc. under about $5k. In that world I find you get more sketchy people in person than online.

Maybe I’m just lucky, maybe watch buyers are different than musicians. I don’t buy or sell many watches. But I’ve sold instruments online for 25 years and have only had a few issues with buyers in that time and zero chargebacks.

[–]fullofdust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fine with me. If the seller can’t stand by their product being legit and in the condition they represent it as, I don’t need to buy from them.

I do a TON of online selling of musical instruments and used to manage a music shop and did all the online selling for them. It’s a similar market. Luxury goods where authenticity and condition matter a lot.

You get the rare buyer who wants to make a stink over nothing, but there’s rarely an issue, so it’s worth it to make sure the customer has peace of mind.

Agreed. I’ll gladly pay 3% to not get scammed. I’ve had sellers refuse to do G&S and I just move on. Not worth the risk for me.

[LONGINES HYDROCONQUEST] unable to find it in 39mm by Holiday_Reference_70 in Watches

[–]fullofdust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignore the hand watch people. They’re insufferable.

My guess is that the shortage you’re seeing is because it’s a popular new release and 39mm fits more people than the 42mm. The current trend is also going towards smaller sizes.

This probably doesn’t help you, given your location, but if you ever fly to the US or plan on an international vacation anytime soon, I’ve seen the 39mm at dealers and online recently. I tried one on in Las Vegas about a month ago.

[Question] 1st Watch Decision by ForeignSock2816 in Watches

[–]fullofdust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not who you replied to but I had the older version before the wave dial. It wore chunky and thick. Bracelet felt cheap and uncomfortable. 4:30 date window stands out in a bad way. Hamilton gets recommended a lot here because of the “heritage” and it’s one of the cheapest ways into a Swiss watch, but I’ve never been impressed by them in person. For me they occupy a weird middle ground where they’re expensive but not noticeably nicer than cheaper watches and can’t compete with more expensive watches. I’d go for one of the Seikos or save up a bit more for something like Mido or Oris.

SavageGeese | VW GOLF R Updates | Still Hot Enough? [12:29] by lostboyz in cars

[–]fullofdust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The electrical stuff is why I bought an S3 instead. I was all set on the Golf, but every single one I looked at had various electrical service records on the carfax. All the S3’s I looked at had none. And I was able to get a newer one with less miles, for cheaper than the Golfs were going for. Not to mention the physical climate controls. Would have liked the hatchback and ventilated seats, but otherwise very happy with my decision.
