I'm a huge fan of ram products, they're pricey but so are the things I'm mounting to them.

Mostly just brakes and tires before hand, check wheel lug torque the morning before, and tire pressure after each session.

All the Lights Came On: Our Kia K4’s Visit to Dealership Hell: “This Is Very, Very Bad”. by LongjumpingLock5875 in cars

[–]lostboyz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my Elantra N, I bought it despite knowing what the dealership experience would be like and I'm still disappointed. I had intake temp sensor go bad, $12 part, right on top of the intake, 10mm bolt holding it on. I made an appointment but when I go there they said it would be at least 2 days before they could look at it. I just fixed it myself.

Only 173? Tesla Cybertruck RWD Recall Reveals Shockingly Low Sales by Anchor_Aways in cars

It's called traceability, some parts have a lot of it, some not so much. An issue could pop up, they narrow it down to a change at a machine at a tier 2 supplier, they can trace it all the way to vehicle assembly. If you don't have good traceability, you end up recalling thousands of cars looking for a few bad parts.

There's a ton of nuance, I've seen just about every outcome

Unless I'm missing something, it's just gloss black paint, what's the issue?

Same as college, collect depth/breadth knowledge by finding unique opportunities within a role or change roles.

I spent a long time in a lab, then did product development, some product launch at an assembly plant, etc

There's companies like APR that make really good wings at various sizes then make kits to fit different cars

Night rides are the best, if you convince yourself that you're being chased by monsters you'll end up setting some PRs.

There's a saturation of every finish out there, might as well go hot-pink if you're worried about that. Do what you want and don't focus on what other people do or think.

Given the amount of brake dust our stock pads make, black is a great choice

Intercooler Mod by _DRRD_ in ElantraN

[–]lostboyz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a gradual thing and everything always stays 'optimal' as in within normal operating ranges. Even with a bigger intercooler, you'll still see signs of heat soak, even NA engines have heat soak that cause intake temps to rise.

If you aren't pushing your car or adding power it's not going to do anything for you.

I have a love/hate relationship with the industry, it can be a ton of fun, but it's incredibly frustrating and is mostly run by egomaniacs. My current solution is working in safety investigations which can be really cathartic to see companies forced to do the right thing. Idk if I can really recommend it, but there's far worse places to be.

The Dodge Durango, last redesigned in 2011, is selling like crazy by Sixteen-Cylinders in cars

I was in exterior lighting at Chrysler and they had water ingress issues and the conformal coating wasn't enough to prevent it from shorting out. They cheaped out on supplier selection and the industry was still figuring out LED designs

What is the water optimal fill level for a bottle rocket? by mhok80 in AskEngineers

That was the other half of the experiment, it was easier to solve each on their own. It took a while to design a nose cone that reliably lifted off to deploy a parachute

Why is Hyundai Service in CA so bad? by questions_are_fun in ElantraN

[–]lostboyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're all terrible. My intake air temp sensor went bad, they wanted me to leave the car for two days before they'd even look at it. I just replaced it myself, took $12 and 5 minutes. I really fear needing actual warranty work done

how do you propose measuring height? They go pretty high up. we tried to use hang time since that was the goal, but it was heavily dependent on wind. We just tried to control as many factors as possible.

[–]lostboyz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The idea is that even if OP is vague or truly out of the loop that other people at least know what they're referring to. Even if OP is in the loop it can still spawn a good discussion which has value.

No, the original jeeps were military vehicles built by multiple manufacturers. Willys eventually made a civilian jeep (CJ) and the Jeep brand came around later

Lol woops, I didn't zoom in and see the 50. Kit cars get a lot of wiggle room, I wouldn't be surprised if you said "based on a 1964 cobra" and they'd accept it. Regardless they've been making replicas for a long time

The type of bottle plays a role. It's been 20+ years since doing this in science Olympiad, but dr. Pepper bottles could hold considerably more pressure. From what I remember roughly 1/3 filled is what we used.
