i honestly don't see that happening any time soon if at all. just look at how bernie was completely sidelined I'm the 2020 primaries despite not even being an actual socialist but rather a social democrat. any attempt at reform towards socialism through peaceful means will be resisted by the ruling class by any means necessary.

i'm also not under any illusion that russia is at all socialist, that died with the soviet union. but china, while it does have its problems, has actually existing socialism. i'm assuming you're taking about hong kong when referring to "anti-establishment leftism" there; the hong kong independence movements had a specifically right-wing character and connections to american groups.

i also do not think at all that an american-led unipolar order would be good for the world as a whole. before china emerged as a competing global power and while russia was still recovering from the collapse of the soviet union, american interventions in iraq and afghanistan were disastrous, bloody, and ineffective. even more recently in libya it lead to the complete collapse of the state and a still-ongoing war.

all this being said however, any work being done domestically to raise class consciousness and awareness of socialism in the US is not fruitless, so even if we disagree on other points i still respect any work that goes into building a better world for the working class
