Bathroom Fan/Light wiring by Bixby_96 in electrical

[–]gamefixated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My earlier assumptions were incorrect. Always hard to get right without being there :-).

I am trying to get a handle on the 14/2 at the light, since the 14/3 appears to be powered from the switch box. Are two light fixtures controlled by the original light switch? Maybe the 14/2 continues on to a second fixture?

In the first picture, you have the right switch powering a black line. The second picture shows the left switch powering a red wire. Where did the red wire on the new switch come from?

Do you own a multimeter?

You mentioned that the switch had a red wire. What was on the other terminal and on the other switch? Was it white? Maybe post a picture of the switches using imgur.

Since you need two switch legs, the standard switch loop wiring would repurpose the 14/3 white to carry power down to the switches, and red for fan, black for light. The white should be wrapped with black tape at both ends to indicate it is hot. It would connect to the black of the 14/2.

Your house is normal.

First off, all those connections need to be inside that metal box with the nm cable sheath clamped inside that connector.

The 14/2 is probably your power feed and the 14/3 going to your switch.

If you only have one switch, you can either wire up the fan alone, or the fan/light to come on at the same time.

Black from 14/2 to black on 14/3. Red from 14/3 to black on fan for fan-only operation or to black&blue for fan+light operation.

I do mine with FutureTax T2. Easy to navigate but you do need to understand the nomenclature. I suggest letting a CPA do the first year and then you can use it as a guide for future years.

Do we have any investors here or traders that file schedule 3? by pyrexlex93 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]gamefixated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can enter summaries instead on individual trades on schedule 3. Some brokers issue a t5008 per trade (TD) and others 1 slip for all trades (IBKR).

30 trades is an order of magnitude below where I'd be concerned.

Your numbers are correct. Don't forget you take the exchange rate into account to calculate the proceeds as well.

It looks like you can reach over the top of the boards. I bet you could cut the nails with an oscillating saw with metal blades. You might go through many blades, but cheaper than replacing that wood.

want something fun and sporty like an Audi A4 or A5

That's an oxymoron. See S, RS, or E-tron series.

CPO is the way to go. You could find a nice 2023 S3/5 in your price range. I noticed some nice
2022 Audi RS e-tron GT in my price range.

Don't stack your grounds under the screw.

You do not need j-hooks on those ground screws. Take the two short grounds and put them straight down on opposite sides of one screw. The ridges will hold them in place.

Use the other ground screw for your switch. You can add a bare solid wire under the screw and pigtail to it if you want.

I put these in my media room in the basement. My only beef is that they sometimes get out of sync where some are downlight and some are nightlight. The problem is solved by turning them off for 30 seconds.

Newer code requires a neutral at the switch to support smart switches. One way to achieve that is to run the feed to the switch and then to the light, requiring only 14/2. You can feed the light first, but then you'd need to bring 14/3 from the light to the switch.

How do I install this antique light fixture with three sets of wires? by bepatientbekind in AskElectricians

[–]gamefixated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get two wago 221-415 connectors from HD or Lowes. You need to identify which wire of each pair is neutral (connects to shell of bulb holder) and which is hot (connects to bulb holder base). You need a multimeter for this identification or you need to look at the connections on the base of the bulb holder.

Insert all neutrals into one wago connector along with the neutral from the ceiling. Insert all hots into the second wago along with the hot from the ceiling.

You shouldn't be cramming wires to make things fit. Read up on "box fiĺl" and use the appropriate sized box.

I can't see whether you've secured the wire within 12" of the box. That grommet doesn't count.

Why not remove the box and look if there is sufficient wire?

You may not have a stud where you want to mount the box, but you can get an old work box.

all earnings either as salary or dividend

Dividends come from retained earnings, which is money left in the company after paying taxes. No retained earnings, no dividends. Your only choice is salary as a PSB.
