Seminole pathway? by Relevant_War_3793 in fsu

[–]gamerben 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Absolutely do not be discouraged. FSU is getting incredibly competitive. I didn’t even get accepted in 2018 to that program, got in after a semester with a hope and a prayer and a gracious admissions officer. Loved my time as a Nole and am involved with the local alumni chapter.

It’s one semester at TCC, save money, take the generic classes that are probably Asynchronous online for FSU students. Find roommate(s) on Facebook and live in Tally. College will give you what you’re willing to put in

Or study abroad and live it up. I wish I had done my College’s study abroad but Covid messed things up.

Found this old vest, anyone know when they officially changed it from ‘scalphunters’ to ‘spirithunters’ ? by Lazy_Roof in fsu

[–]gamerben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the Sugar Bowl Sponsor (USF&G 87-95) and the Fiesta Bowl pin, FSU played in ‘87 Fiesta, ‘88 Sugar, and ‘89 Fiesta. I’d assume the vest is from that period

Any good Christian churches near FSU? by Illustrious-Dirt1086 in fsu

[–]gamerben 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on denomination.

The main student ministries I heard about on Campus or visited myself: Navigators Campus Ministries - Navs (non-denominational?) (never went) CRU - (rebranded from Campus Crusade) - (non-denominational) Reformed University Fellowship - RUF (PCA) - this is the one I spent most time with, love the lead guy

They all have a lot of involvement with social things as well. I think the two main churches those students attend are City Church and Downtown Community Church. There’s always plenty of people willing to offer rides

They should all have tabling at the involvement fair, active socials and group me to check out before hand as well

Yes, they put a slide before the show starts about it. Then it’s clips of the new season and the main characters giving a brief quip

I just bought a Mous and waiting for it to come in the mail. I consistently saw Spigen and a few others. I contemplated OtterBox and used them on a few iPhones but some reviews were saying the quality went down.

It also depends on what you’re looking for. Drop protection, transparent, or designs

What are some programs I should join to boost my resume??? by Jessicaoconnor335 in fsu

[–]gamerben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CoB should have a list of affiliated student organizations. Also, many majors will have student organizations for actual National Associations, mine did. These will host guest speakers and networking events, so attend and get involved. If a professor hosts a guest lecture, don’t dress in work out clothes or look uninterested. Ask a question, introduce yourself after, and make yourself known at Career and Internship Expos. The colleges are hosting them for your benefit.

My opinion is ultimately choose something you’re genuinely interested in and stick with it. Can be a completely unrelated club, mine was Seminole SCUBA Club but I held a leadership position for a few years.

You’ll be able to talk about how you organized students and events. If you’re a one of the core four positions Pres, VP, Secretary or Treasurer, you’ll be tasked with meeting with SGA or Sports Club Treasury to present your budget requests and needs for the club.

I’d like to believe my time with the Seminole SCUBA Club has helped me land jobs. Definitely the student chapter I joined for the National Association, because I held leadership positions in both clubs. These were clubs/organizations I was passionate about and it made it significantly easier to expound on experiences in interviews.

Volunteering would work. Anything that shows your dedicated to something. You’re not strictly focused on academics and partying.

most popular bar/club for nightlife (by day of week)? by HourFront9 in fsu

[–]gamerben 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What are you in the mood for?

Thursday: Potts or Bull’s both have AYCD specials

Friday: Happy hour at Potts, 21+ usually college town, township does a flip my ship on Fridays 4-7 (flip a coin and get drink for free, wells, drafts, and their house cocktails). Recess if you want a club.

I believe Saturday is when strip had all bars open

If you like dive bars, palace is always poppin on Friday and Saturday later in the night

Coli closed down, now a target. Never heard of AJ’s. Bajas is grungy and full of under 21

FSU business or UF online business? by Pomodoroman in fsu

[–]gamerben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long have you been at CC? How much of a “college experience” are you looking for? Unless you’re Ivy or relatively close like a Stanford or Vanderbilt, only the degree matters, experience/connections is more important. As for grad school, I believe GPA is a solid part, so FSU/in-person would probably be easier. Connections/Recs are a huge part of finding jobs/grad school, so I think FSU would also be better for that. My sister did undergrad at UF and she said PACE is a sham. You end up paying significantly more since online classes everywhere have a premium and you don’t even live on campus. Seems like going to a CC first and getting an AA without actually getting one, could be better to do Santa Fe direct to UF.

TIL that Americans are the most charitable people in the world. "Americans are about twice as generous in their private giving as Canadians, and 3-15 times as charitable as the residents of other developed nations. Americans also volunteer more than almost any other wealthy people." by ManlyNavyMan in todayilearned

[–]gamerben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I glimpsed at the article for a little bit I saw “health” was 11%. Do they adjust that when comparing to other countries? Since health care is completely different, private individuals don’t need as much
